Rankings were steady last night with ratings drops pretty evenly across the board; The Office continued to top Fox’s drama Fringe, which lost around 40 percent of its lead-in from the going-strong Bones. The Vampire Diaries posted its lowest ratings ever, dropping to below 4 million for the first time.

Get it off of Thursdays!!!
Agree – it should be on Tuesday nights, its a great show that should be promoted more.
Exactly. As soon as they moved it, I knew Fringe was in trouble. Why is Fringe in trouble though, when it had the same number of viewers as 30 Rock?
Jacquie, I would assume that Fringe is in trouble (rather than 30 Rock) because Fringe is more expensive to produce. Plus, Fringe had ratings of about 10 million last season, and when a show drops in the ratings like that, it’s not good. 30 Rock, however, has usually been pretty consistent around 6 mil.
and it hasn’t been news that 30 rock doesn’t get a lot of viewers. what helps 30 rock is that it gets all of those awards and critical raves
Hmmm….a show about people dancing…or Fringe. If you were Fox, what would you rather have as a success??? COME ON FOX!!!!!!!
if you’re talking about SYTYCD, here’s your answer. i’m not an insider, but i’m gonna say fox cleans up when it comes to advertising dollars for “dance”, over “fringe”
Geech, Helen Keller can see that Fringe does not belong on Thursdays. Hopefully FOX will get their acts together in January and move it to another night.
does “fringe” follow “idol” on tuesdays or was it always on thursday? i can’t recall. they always put the show they want to succeed the most after it.
It used to last season, but I believe Glee gets that spot when Idol goes to the one hour shows.
I totally LOVE Fringe. It’s smart, stylish and very entertaining. I hope this good, quality material gets support from the Network. I think people didn’t give it a chance yet. I believe that what is good prevails after all. I hope time proves me right in this case.
Fox is screwing up once again. First they kill Arrested Development and now they will do it to Fringe. What a bunch of morons that work at FOX.
Sorry. It should have been killed. My Bad. Which ironically is what FOX will say when Fringe gets the plug. MORONS!!!!!!!!
I agree 110%. Get it together already FOX!!!!!!!
Jack – you mean when Fox pulls the plug? When Fringe gets the plug really doesn’t make sense… just saying…

Fringe is amazing and deserves to stay on the air! When will Fox grow a brain and move it back to Tuesdays?!!!
Careful what you wish for. With the cancellation of Dollhouse, Fox has a hole in its schedule on Fridays. And with Fox’s track record, moving Fringe there is definitely a possibility. Result: certain death.
Fringe is infinitely better than Dollhouse, there’s no comparison. Even with the dropoff, almost six million people watch Fringe every week. There’s a place on TV somewhere for Fringe, it just probably isn’t up against CSI and The Office.
MOVE FRINGE TO A NIGHT OTHER THAN THURSDAYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Move Fringe put it behind House.
THIS
The episodes have been fantastic, but I’ve been falling asleep towards the end…not out of boredom…I’m just tired. I agree,go back to Tuesdays!
Well hello the Vapire Diaries dropped because all the young girls that follow this were getting ready to see New Moon . . it will back next watch.
lol that’s so true!
Fringe is a quality show that requires a very serious and intelligent audience. It’s following is a loyal one, so Fox would be stupid to axe it. Moving it to another night would be smart, but it’s not going to measure up in the ratings to these awful entertainment and reality shows because, let’s face it, a lot of people don’t like to think while watching TV. Fringe falls in that “Lost” and “Flashforward” category where ratings aren’t the full story.
Lost has always had double the audience that Fringe has (triple on season 1). So that pretty much defeats your argument.
Pauch, actually you’re wrong. Last season of Lost averaged about 11 million, while Fringe averaged 10 million. Lost used to have a huge audience, but then it got too confusing for a lot of people. There were some weeks during season 5 that got less than 9 million viewers, which is a very significant drop from the 18 or 19 million it averaged during its first 2 seasons.
Whoa! ‘The Mentalist’ beat both ‘CSI’ and ‘Greys Anatomy’; maybe I’m wrong but that isn’t par for the course, is it?
