He isn’t alive because of choices that he made. Why does everyone insist on passing the buck? He put himself in that situation to begin with. I’m not defending the doctor but let’s not get all weepy and sanctimonious in our unwarranted deification of MJ.
Michael, while Samantha’s comments appear to be written like she was drunk, or maybe 12, I have to agree that Dr. Murray holds some responsibility. I don’t think it’s a matter of “passing the buck”. The doctors and staff of some celebs (like Anna Nicole and MJ) are enablers and seem to take advantage of their clients addictions for selfish reasons. Get ‘em hooked on Rx, they keep coming back and paying me more. I hope these people are used as examples and criminal charges are brought. No physician should ever feed a person’s habit. Perhaps both Anna Nicole and MJ would be alive today if they had more responsible and selfless physicians.
This was expected. 8 million for a one day is pretty good for a documentry. PA is still going strong as well. Today will be the true test though. Will people flock to see PA for a halloween scare or will the MJ fans come out in large #s. Saw can call it a day. That franchise commited the same crime as so many horror franchises before it by becoming overexposed.
I’m going to see This Is It for the 2nd time on Sunday, saw it on Thursday already. I bet Sat/Sun numbers will drive it up some. And the 19 mil is for a Wed-Thurs-Fri run, so it is a great start! GO MJ!
It’s funny that nobody cared about Michael Jackson anymore until he died, but now everyone is his biggest fan.
It’s not that they didn’t care it’s that they didn’t know how much they cared until he was gone. It happens like that sometimes.
People still cared about him. But he hadn’t released new material in 8 years. It’s not like his music was aiming for a spot in the Top 40 and everyone just pushed it aside.
People loved the man even before he died. MJ wasn’t doing anything music wise, so the public could only talk about his private life and his downfall. Hell, at least he was still in the news. lol Every Pop Star known to man called this man their idol, way before he died. Everywhere he went big crowds gathered. EVERYWHERE. He’s the only celeb who could make that claim : ) His personal life is a freakin’ puzzle, but his music is a gift.
new moon!!!!!
If it makes you feel any better Bobby, I still don’t give a sh*t about him.
If that were true you wouldn’t post about him.
Ok wiseguy, I guess you have a point. Let me rephrase, I still don’t give a sh*t about his music/entertainment career. Of course, as a rational adult, I’m still horrified by his pedophila. Better?
To Martillo
I am 54 years old and have followed the Kennedy,King ,and
Jackson families and news events all of my life. I really have problem with people who even when the media tried to crucify Michael for his “alleged” inappropriate behavior with young boys on two occasions, in courts, with predominantly non-African American jurors, on both occasions, the verdict came back NotGuilty!! Jordan Chandler has, since Mike’s death come forward and admitted that he was lying. And yet you still want to condemn a dead man for offenses that two juries in two different decades determined was NOT GUILTY!!!
You’re a piece of work!!!!!! Oh, by the way how much have you donated to ANY charity lately? Have you visited any sick or starving children? JUST SIT DOWN AND KEEP QUIET!
either you have a lot of time on your hands with nothing to do (i feel sorry for you, and not in a good way) or you’re bored, because no one else would waste time on an entertainment site clicking on, reading, or posting hate filled messages about the dead.
Why do people always say that. Get some original material.
Marie, it’s pointless to try and argue with blatant ignorance and stupidity. It’s ridiculous to try to explain to Martillo that Michael was found not guilty in a court of law by an unanimous decision of his peers. I wonder if he would even have an ounce of the strength it took Michael to get over the false accusations. But Karma is known to be a bitch and Martillo will get what’s coming to him. R.I.P, Michael.
Ahhh, how sweet Marie, you feel sorry for me because I posted on an entertainment message board. I bet the irony of what you posted still hasn’t entered you’re pretty little head.
Well concerned soul, OJ Simpson was found not guilty as well. The term ‘not guilty’ doesn’t mean innocence, you clearly know nothing about our justice system. Stick with collecting Michael Jackson memorabilia, commenting on legal matters just serves to hilight your ignorance. Oh, and I do hope that you can find some concern for Michael Jackson’s victims, I know he could moon walk and all, but I think his pedophilia is more important.
It is so socially and psychologically interesting that people who take pains to profess a non-interest, hatred of, and belief in Mr. Jackson being a pedophile are spending so much time even 4 months after his death to Google his name, read articles about him and instead of moving on in disgust take the time to post comments about him. He’s dead. Get over it already. Get a life. Seek professional help for your obsessions. At the beginning of the film, its says it’s for his fans, many of whom are seeing it 2 and 3 times and will buy the DVD (now don’t you go sneaking and buying it when it comes out or renting it off Netlix). Stay home and or go to see whatever else is playing because you are…so…not…interested. Yeah…right. We believe you.
Gina, Michael Jackson has only gone to trial once, he bought the other kid’s silence for 25 million dollars. You don’t know enough to have a legitimate opinion about the matter. I don’t believe in telling people to be quiet just because I disagree with them, but it is good advice for you just so you won’t continue to embarrass yourself.
A respectful message to those who still doubt Michael jackson’s innocence: There is a reason why a depth charge of anger and grief has ignited in the hearts of millions of people. I do not mean to offend who believes the opposite in any way, but I just have to speak up. Does anyone really believe that the millions talking about the miscarriage of justice Michael Jackson suffered would be prepared to overlook peodophilia just because he was talented? Because I certainly wouldn’t. The American people need to know they were effectively brainwashed by the relentless onslaught of media coverage and endless rotation of hearsay and outright lies that so-called journalists like Diane Dimond, Nancy Grace, Maureen Orth and the Smoking Gun online tabloid – amongst others – inflated into a storm of such unprecedented hostility it would convince Mr Jackson’s legal team that it would be better to settle than fight in court in 1993. In hindsight, that decision was a huge mistake. In the 2005 trial, the prosecution introduced the 1993 allegations into the trial evidence to bolster their case, this enabled Meseareau to revisit the circumstances of those allegations. Mesereau was able to satisfy a conservative jury that there was no validity to them whatsoever. Of course, little or no coverage was given to this fact, just as no attention was paid to the facts or motives of Evan Chandler or Janet Arviso. While it is understandable due to the sheer level of misinformation and non-investigation of Michael’s accusers: (Can anyone think of a single article apart from Mary Fischer’s ‘Was Michael Jackson Framed?’ that asked any serious questions about the credibilty of Michael’s accusers?); – that the myth of sexual deviancy still persists about Michael Jackson – it’s just not acceptable for this lie to stand any longer. It has caused so much pain to so many people, including Michael, and it undoubtedly precipitated his dependency on tranquillizers and ended his life earlier than the norm. There is information out there, information, I might add, that has more weight and substance than the nonsense that has been peddled for years by the majority, if not all the American media. I am asking people to please go their local bookstore, order Aphrodite Jones’s book ‘The Michael Jackson Conspiracy,’ read Mary A Fischer’s article, go to the silencedtruth website and in particular read Cory Rooney’s comment in the ‘remember’ section, read Brian Oxman’s statements about Michael Jackson in The Huffington Post, and read the substantial legal criticism of Tom Sneddon’s years-long vendetta to prosecute Michael Jackson that is detailed in the archive section of the New York Times and many other publications. Millions of dollars of American taxpayers money were spent by Sneddon in an attempt to find corroborating witnesses to the so-called alleged crimes of Michael Jackson;– an extraordinary amount, considering Sneddon found none. Out of the thousands of children Michael Jackson helped, two alleged molestation and one man linked both investigations. For most normal people, a huge alarm bell should surely be ringing. Janet Arviso and her son Gavin both admitted on the stand in 2005 that Janet Arviso had made her son lie to support her false claims that she had been sexually assaulted by staff in a J C Penny store, after she and her children had been caught shoplifting. Unlucky? Or just a family with a unnatural propensity for being in the wrong place at the wrong time? The Arviso v J.C Penny case I mentioned, by the way, can be found by googling it and in American law journals. I could go on, my point is this; people need to be asking questions right now – that is, if they want to know the truth. The movement for Michael’s vindication is about enabling truth to come to bear on something that has needed exposing for a very long time, not about excusing serious crimes because of how well somebody sang. What was done to Michael Jackson must never be forgotten – and all those who talk about him being a child molester know not of what they speak.
I think most MJ fans will have shown up Friday, PA is probably going to take the box office again. Saw VI was DOA
I just want to say I have always been an MJ fan and even thought I live in Kentucky I tried to buy tickets to one of his 50 london concerts not even knowing how i would (or if i could) go. I didn’t get tickets but knew if MJ was committed to taking on the challenge he would rise to the occasion. I just saw “This is it” and it exceeded my expectations in every way. It ABSOLUTELY cemented the fact that he is the worlds greatest dancer/entertainer. I hope people will continue to support the artist he was and all those who love his music will see it and enjoy all that i did over the past two hours!!!!
In my opinion I guess one reason of his tragic death was that he had insecurities and couldn’t handle it anymore. Ironically, he conquered the world but could not conquer himself. That’s awfully sad. Though I would understand that maybe his insecurities were the result of his lack of completeness in his childhood..because of early and too much work. This is not uncommon to most of child stars. Nevertheless, MJ’s talent and good deeds was unparalleled and these overshadows all his shortcomings. Well, no one is perfect anyway. So we could never judge the man. Only God has the right to. He was just one human being with gifts…which he shared unselfishly to us. Thank you, Michael. I will forever be inspired by you.
I can’t stand MJ – as a person.
He has contributed anything relevant to music since Thriller. When someone dies its shame. I feel for his family but I also feel for his victims.
Tis true the 80″s is making a comeback….best decade ever!!
MJ…and looking forward to The Expendables with Stallone, Austin, Jet LI and even cameos by Arnold S. and Bruce Willis….the #1 B.O. film of 2010….get ready everyone….the 80’s is coming around again!!!
I saw the movie on Friday and Saturday and both times I was crying, laughing and dancing in my chair. Words can’t describe how much I loved this movie. I normally never see a movie more than once in a theater ,but this was a completely different experience for me. The emotions and the excitement for me were there. Michael was so incredible and wonderful in it that it was hard to think that what the audience was watching were rehearsal’s and not the actual concert.I also have to say that I have never seen a movie where the audience was so into the moment. People were dancing in the aisles, singing along to Billie Jean and Human Nature, and applauding to the end of every single finish to a song,it was really wonderful how many people loved him and how much joy he continues to bring to people ,myself included. There is no one that comes to mind that can make me feel like there is hope that you should do your very best at anything that you do. For that I thank you Michael from the bottom of my heart. You will forever inspire me.
“I thank you Michael from the bottom of my heart.”
Hate to break this to ya Bobbie, but that’s not the kind of bottom Michael was into. He liked juicy little ten year old bottoms, and only if they belonged to little boys.
Martillo and Meso Soup…go get a life and spread your ignorance somewhere else. MJ haters will keep trumpeting the OJ verdict, but that does alter the fact that both his accusers had histories of dishonest activities and the cases were totally flimsy.
Dak, I totally agree with you abt MJ’s insecurities and a sorta persecution complex he had, but that said, he was THE GREATEST entertainer no doubt, and has unmatchable talent. He really wanted to do good in the world, but his own insecurities overshadowed whatever he did. Sad.
So Michael Jackson paid off the kid with 25 million dollars because it was a flimsy case? I’m sure it’s nothing but rainbows and marshmellow trees in your world. Unfortunately, in the real world, just being a fan of someone’s music doesn’t make them innocent of pedophilia. I don’t, and never did give a sh*t about Michael Jackson’s music, but I love Roman Polanski’s films. That doesn’t change the fact that he’s a pedophile rapist, and he should rot in jail. But by all means Anna, jump on that unicorn and ride free in your world, where anyone who’s music you like is a saintly, despite all evidence to the contrary.
Bobbie:
I couldn’t agree with you more !
I have seen this movie 4 TIMES already and each time it’s a brand new experience ! I was at the premiere and it was a full house. There were people dancing in their seats, in the aisles, singing along and clapping. There was even a little boy dressed up as MJ doing the moonwalk in the aisle. I have never seen people so involved with a movie; engaging MJ; as this one. What is especially sad about this is that if MJ had not passed we would not be seeing this. The concerts sold out in minutes and we probably would be seeing clips on the news or waiting a couple of years to get the DVD. What a show; MJ was bringing it on and set the bar high for others to come.
What is especially touching with the movie is the HUMAN-NESS of MJ that is so visible during the movie. What we used to see on stage was the professionalism of MJ and we did not have the chance to see his human part. MJ was a human; a man and the movie shows just a bit of this side of him and what a genuine person he was. There was genius work going on and we have lost a genius who can never be replaced or forgotten. He is forever etched in our hearts. The message that MJ was trying to bring across was to LOVE one another as a family; something that other entertainers have failed to do. His genius was in bringing that message across in his work and he has given us an example. It is true that MJ made mistakes and that only shows how human he was; humans do err. MJ had his battles and unfortunately he was unable to overcome; however he still LOVED no matter what.
To those who have posted negatively…some of you need to learn to get your facts straight, suck up you were wrong and admit it; and forgive MJ for any frailties or faults ( as if you didn’t have any) and stop making comments as if you were his judge. Karma is a B____ and just remember what goes around comes around ! It’s one thing not to like MJ which you are entitled to; but it’s another when you continue to falsely accuse someone who was found innocent by a trial of his peers with an all white jury simply because you refuse to accept the truth and realize how WRONG the media was about him. I guess it’s easier to falsely accuse rather than come out and admit you were wrong ?? I guess pride cometh before a FALL ! To continuously accuse him of wrong doing when the truth was already established only shows ignorance. ( I wouldn’t doubt some of you nay sayers and accusers will be slick and go see the movie).
MJ……..YOU ROCK MY WORLD !!
I agree with martillo… MJ and those poor kids are the ones who know what really happened, not you (MJ fans). Maybe he was declared “not guilty” but that doesn’t make things any better. I kind off liked his music, though I don’t understand what’s the big deal with him, maybe because in that time there was only him and 4 other musicians in the world… Get over it already, this movie shouldn’t exist on first place, obviously they want to make money with the morbo of watching Michael before his death, but I find it annoying ’cause no one give a **** about him while he was still alive, and don’t tell me crap like: “he didn’t release any record in 8 years”. I respect him as a musician but that’s it.
