EW has exclusively learned that Lea Michele’s Spring Awakening co-star, Jonathan Groff (seen most recently in Ang Lee’s Taking Woodstock) is coming on board Glee for five or six episodes playing the lead male singer of Vocal Adrenaline, the group already seen performing “Rehab” and “Mercy.” Says Glee co-creator Ryan Murphy, “He is a male diva…a miva.” Groff’s character will also serve as a potential love interest for Michele’s Rachel.

Get over it Rachel is one of the leads of the show the others are supporting cast, who will get their stories in do time, but are still supporting cast members.

For all those wanting a love interest for Kurt, I would like to see an accurate showing of the struggles a newly outed gay teen feels in high school, cutting through the rather caricature moments we’ve seen Kurt in lately as a homosexual. That is so awesome. In real life, Lea Michele and Jonathan Groff are extremely close…he even showed up to “The View” when she was doing an interview. I love Spring Awakening…and I love both of them…can’t wait…now all we need is John Gallagher Jr.

This is great! If he becomes the love interest for Rachel, it could create some great tension in her relationship with Finn, especially when he finds out that Quinn is lying to him about the baby (which I hope happens soon). He’ll need someone to go to, and if her attentions are focused on someone else – sparks!
(spoiler)…..I think that this can make for adding yet another side to the love triangle/square as it looks like Puck will make a play for Rachel in this week’s ep according to some sneak clips. (whether Puck is sincere or is trying to make Quinn jealous remains to be seen).

seeing as though i live in louisiana and couldnt make it to see spring awakening on broadway, i bought the cast soundtrack and still listen to it constantly, this will be the closest i get to seeing that show……i love glee and cant wait for the mini reunion

today is my 21st birthday and this just made my day!!!! i saw both lea and jonathan in spring awakening on broadway and they signed autographs after the show and they’re so sweet!!! and his voice is just golden, love love love it!!!

I agree with you. If they’re going to have a guest star, let his storyline bring one of the underused kids to the forefront. I love this show but I think the writers have forgotten there are other characters besides Rachel and Sue (LOVE HER!)
A quick note on Sue – The show is called Glee and should be about a glee club / show choir. However, by far the most memorable character in the show is the strangely motivated evil gym teacher… I think that that’s a bad sign for the future of this show. Focus on the choir. I love musicals and choir… this show just seems to try and be about everything other than the choir it claims to celebrate.
Actually, Glee is a high school parable set around the members of the Glee club. It’s not a documentary exclusively about the Glee club (thank goodness). All good stories need villains, but large and small.
There is more Finn and Will than Sue and Rachel
Um, they have 22 episodes now to get to more people. Geesh – y’know the first priority might have been ensuring a full season pickup (which guest stars help do by attracting fans of the guest). I’m sure we’ll learn all about the main characters, particularly if we get another season.

This is a story about GLEE, if you don’t like and don’t watch the show then why bother wasting your time reading the article and posting such a nasty message? OMG I am so excited for this and was waiting for this to happen. I think he would be a perfect love interst for Rachel just for the fact they have awesome chemistry. Also Vocal Adrenaline keeps people in the group even after they are supposed to graduate so it may be like that.

This is the best entertainment news that I’ve heard today. I was one of the fortunate ones who got to see Lea and Jon together on Spring Awakening and it was great. He has a very good voice.

Oh by the way, I hope Lea’s success on Glee would help get the Spring Awakening movie started. I really want to see that movie with the original cast before they all become too old to play the characters. Then we’d then be stuck with Disney clones who can’t sing. Yikes.
I would love to see a Spring Awakening movie! Although, I wouldn’t be really upset if it was without the original cast. I just saw the national tour yesterday, and it was still amazing!

OMG this news just made me soooo happy! I saw spring awakening with the two of them and their chemistry is AMAZING! plus i love jonathan groff–he’s incredibly talented. GLEE!! you keep making me happier and happier each day!!!
