Ratings: 'Bones,' 'FlashForward' still neck and neck

30 Rock’s season premiere didn’t draw a huge audience but stayed in line with its numbers from the end of last season, while ratings were down slightly for NBC’s comedies over last week. Fringe’s ratings continued to suffer in the competitive 9 p.m. bloc, while the 8 p.m. slot saw the race between Bones and FlashForward fall into a dead heat.

You forgot to mention how well the Vampire Diaries is doing… It was soooo good last night.

    • matt54

That’s because it was dead last in its time slot.

      • Steve

almost 4 million is pretty good for a wb show. its probably one of the highest on the network if not number one.

      • Joe

I think you mean cw. There’s no such thing as the wb anymore.

      • Craig

Almost 4 million viewers is a huge number for the CW.

      • Michael

The numbers for Vampire Diaries are good for a CW show. But yet again, NBC better worry about its 8 p.m. show. Those numbers are terrible for Community and Parks and Recreation.

    • Marylynn

It was really good last night. I’m finding the show to be much better than I expected. 4 Million is a lot for the CW.

  • Move Fringe to Monday!

There is NOTHING good on, on Monday. Fringe would fill a void left by Heroes, since it’s continuing to spiral into a huge mess of a show.

    • AA

Yes, please move!!! They could move it to Tuesday too, as there’s nothing on Tuesday night either!

    • Noob

The big danger for Fringe could be the same one that hurt TSCC, the competition with Monday Night Football and Dancing with the Stars, not to mention that the CBS comedies are still doing very well in their slots as they did last year. Tuesdays might be better as long as the don’t expect ot overthrow the NCIS beast block…. Tough decision, but it would be better than to leave it on the most competitve time slot of the week….

    • amj

      move to Wednesday or Friday!

      • J

Wednesday would be a terrible idea once January comes around and Lost is back.

  • MikerMan

WHY DID FOX PUT FRINGE ON THURSDAYS TO GET KILLED??? WHY?????? DUMB MOVE, FOX.

    • MSR

The same reason Fox continues to air Dollhouse on Fridays…

    • Leo

I know – why are some nights so dead and others so stacked? Its ridiculous. I hope they have faith in Fringe. I always watch it with timeshifting because there is so much competition!

  • Nick

Credit to both ‘The Vampire Diaries’ and ‘The Mentalist’ who both seem to be doing well in their time-slots. I was hoping ‘FlashForward’ would have put up a better fight against ‘Survivor: Samoa’… for the survival of the PT drama.

  • Ryan

Frustrating about “Fringe”. Awesome show. You’re right, it should move to Mondays. Or Wednesdays.

Glad Mentalist is doing so well.

    • Zach

“The Mentalist” is horrible. That guy is so arrogant I want to punch him in the face!

      • Sina

I don’t know about him being arrogant but I agree the Mentalist is now horrible. I was a huge fan but now I took it off my DVR. I LOVE Vampire Dairies!!

      • Chris

He is better than that idiot House!

  • Matt

Please, please, please remove Fringe from Thursday nights! This show deserves a better night and a bigger audience – don’t leave it to die in an impossible timeslot!!

  • Fringe!

Fox, please move Fringe to a night other than Thursday!!!
It’s a great show, and you’re killing it!
It worked fine as a Tuesday night show…

    • Chris

I love fringe, however love NCIS more. It would die a horrible death against those shows!

  • Fringe Rules!

Don’t you dare cancel it Fox! Move it to Tuesdays now that Hell’s Kitchen is over.

    • amj

Agree, don’t cancel it! Move to Friday

  • LadySolitaire

It really is dumb to move Fringe to Thursdays ratings-wise, although it’s fine for me since I can watch it right after FlashForward. If Fringe’s ratings continue to suffer, then Fox should put Fringe back in its Season 1 time slot. There’s virtually nothing on Tuesdays, aside from The Good Wife (and V, starting on November 3rd).

  • Selena

I just thank goodness that I have a pvr to be able to record my beloved Bones so that I can watch Survivor. I also love Fringe….they should have left it alone but whatever the suits do, it better not get cancelled.

  • Daniel

    Blah blah Fringe.

    • Someone With Great Taste

      Blah blah Daniel.

  • dave

If Fringe gets canceled, I will go insane. I knew this would happen. There was no reason to change its timeslot when it did fine its first year. Why fix what isn’t broken. Fringe performed solidly during its first season, consistently averaging about 10 million viewers. Now it can barely get 6 million. I don’t understand why Fox is intent on killing this show that has only gotten better over the past year.

    • Dustin

11.9 million people still do apparently. that’s 11 million people more than this crummy season deserves!!!!!

      • Dustin

this is supposed to go under the survivor quote

      • amj

        Agreed, get rid of survivor.

    • Justin

Word up, dave. Fringe is a great show, but it just isn’t ready to compete in a heavily-competitive timeslot like this because its just too new. How can Fox not see this?

  • JB

Who the hell still watches Survivor?? Its so old.

    • I do. and so do 11.9 million other people. And just because a show is old, does not mean it’s bad or gets no viewers or something. Survivor still gets top ratings and good reviews. so i’d check your facts before making a comment like that.

    • Michael

I still do too. But, given some of the spoilers about the next season (the one from Jan.-May) and the fact that Jeff Probst hasn’t signed up beyond next season, I’m thinking it could be its last year.

  • lindsey

TVbythenumbers said that 30 Rock is down 27% from last year’s premiere. That’s a pretty steep drop for a comedy that was already struggling in the ratings.

    • amj

I will watch on Hulu since I am a Fringe fan as well.

  • am

why why WHY do these networks think it is smart to put all of the favorite shows on at the same hour? Give them a chance to flourish on another night! NBC is really killing the evening lineups, forcing all of the good dramas to be on at 9. Hot mess

    • Michael

It’s funny. I watch nothing on Fri. and Sat., I watch 2 to 3 shows on Sun. through Wed., and then I watch practically everything (12 shows) on Thurs.
