30 Rock’s season premiere didn’t draw a huge audience but stayed in line with its numbers from the end of last season, while ratings were down slightly for NBC’s comedies over last week. Fringe’s ratings continued to suffer in the competitive 9 p.m. bloc, while the 8 p.m. slot saw the race between Bones and FlashForward fall into a dead heat.

You forgot to mention how well the Vampire Diaries is doing… It was soooo good last night.
That’s because it was dead last in its time slot.
almost 4 million is pretty good for a wb show. its probably one of the highest on the network if not number one.
I think you mean cw. There’s no such thing as the wb anymore.
Almost 4 million viewers is a huge number for the CW.
The numbers for Vampire Diaries are good for a CW show. But yet again, NBC better worry about its 8 p.m. show. Those numbers are terrible for Community and Parks and Recreation.
It was really good last night. I’m finding the show to be much better than I expected. 4 Million is a lot for the CW.
There is NOTHING good on, on Monday. Fringe would fill a void left by Heroes, since it’s continuing to spiral into a huge mess of a show.
Yes, please move!!! They could move it to Tuesday too, as there’s nothing on Tuesday night either!
The big danger for Fringe could be the same one that hurt TSCC, the competition with Monday Night Football and Dancing with the Stars, not to mention that the CBS comedies are still doing very well in their slots as they did last year. Tuesdays might be better as long as the don’t expect ot overthrow the NCIS beast block…. Tough decision, but it would be better than to leave it on the most competitve time slot of the week….
move to Wednesday or Friday!
Wednesday would be a terrible idea once January comes around and Lost is back.
WHY DID FOX PUT FRINGE ON THURSDAYS TO GET KILLED??? WHY?????? DUMB MOVE, FOX.
The same reason Fox continues to air Dollhouse on Fridays…
I know – why are some nights so dead and others so stacked? Its ridiculous. I hope they have faith in Fringe. I always watch it with timeshifting because there is so much competition!
Credit to both ‘The Vampire Diaries’ and ‘The Mentalist’ who both seem to be doing well in their time-slots. I was hoping ‘FlashForward’ would have put up a better fight against ‘Survivor: Samoa’… for the survival of the PT drama.
Frustrating about “Fringe”. Awesome show. You’re right, it should move to Mondays. Or Wednesdays.
Glad Mentalist is doing so well.
“The Mentalist” is horrible. That guy is so arrogant I want to punch him in the face!
I don’t know about him being arrogant but I agree the Mentalist is now horrible. I was a huge fan but now I took it off my DVR. I LOVE Vampire Dairies!!
He is better than that idiot House!
Please, please, please remove Fringe from Thursday nights! This show deserves a better night and a bigger audience – don’t leave it to die in an impossible timeslot!!
Fox, please move Fringe to a night other than Thursday!!!
It’s a great show, and you’re killing it!
It worked fine as a Tuesday night show…
I love fringe, however love NCIS more. It would die a horrible death against those shows!
Don’t you dare cancel it Fox! Move it to Tuesdays now that Hell’s Kitchen is over.
Agree, don’t cancel it! Move to Friday
It really is dumb to move Fringe to Thursdays ratings-wise, although it’s fine for me since I can watch it right after FlashForward. If Fringe’s ratings continue to suffer, then Fox should put Fringe back in its Season 1 time slot. There’s virtually nothing on Tuesdays, aside from The Good Wife (and V, starting on November 3rd).
I just thank goodness that I have a pvr to be able to record my beloved Bones so that I can watch Survivor. I also love Fringe….they should have left it alone but whatever the suits do, it better not get cancelled.
Blah blah Fringe.
Blah blah Daniel.
If Fringe gets canceled, I will go insane. I knew this would happen. There was no reason to change its timeslot when it did fine its first year. Why fix what isn’t broken. Fringe performed solidly during its first season, consistently averaging about 10 million viewers. Now it can barely get 6 million. I don’t understand why Fox is intent on killing this show that has only gotten better over the past year.
11.9 million people still do apparently. that’s 11 million people more than this crummy season deserves!!!!!
this is supposed to go under the survivor quote
Agreed, get rid of survivor.
Word up, dave. Fringe is a great show, but it just isn’t ready to compete in a heavily-competitive timeslot like this because its just too new. How can Fox not see this?
Who the hell still watches Survivor?? Its so old.
I do. and so do 11.9 million other people. And just because a show is old, does not mean it’s bad or gets no viewers or something. Survivor still gets top ratings and good reviews. so i’d check your facts before making a comment like that.
I still do too. But, given some of the spoilers about the next season (the one from Jan.-May) and the fact that Jeff Probst hasn’t signed up beyond next season, I’m thinking it could be its last year.
TVbythenumbers said that 30 Rock is down 27% from last year’s premiere. That’s a pretty steep drop for a comedy that was already struggling in the ratings.
I will watch on Hulu since I am a Fringe fan as well.
why why WHY do these networks think it is smart to put all of the favorite shows on at the same hour? Give them a chance to flourish on another night! NBC is really killing the evening lineups, forcing all of the good dramas to be on at 9. Hot mess
It’s funny. I watch nothing on Fri. and Sat., I watch 2 to 3 shows on Sun. through Wed., and then I watch practically everything (12 shows) on Thurs.
I have been very pleasantly surprised by how good Vampire Diaries is. It really strikes a great balance with all its elements, and it just keeps getting better every week. Last night’s episode was fabulous. And while I don’t think Supernatural has been nearly as good as it was last season, I’m also surprised at the drop-off in viewers from Vampire Diaries. But Thursdays really are too full. Even with watching live and taping, I still have to rely on Hulu for at least one show (30 Rock), whereas on Tuesday, there is nothing that I watch at all. Really, people, Thursday is not inherently better. How about some balance? I’d also really like to see Flash Forward in another time-slot. I think it’s more of a 9:00 (8:00 CT) show; it feels out of place where it is now.
It is insane that Private Practice has more viewers than The Office and 30 Rock.
Amen!!!!
I think NBC Thursday nights have all the same type of comedy. I think each show is great individually. But sometimes it feels like I’m watching the same show for 2 hours. Just my 2 cents…
Agreed with many above, Thursdays are just TOO packed. It’s good for networks to be compeitive, but placing your hopeful, not solid shows on a Thursday is now the equivalent of putting it on a Friday. Tuesday is just such a dead night until Idol starts. Why dont the networks think about that?
Tuesday and even Wednesday need more shows. Maybe even sunday. Mondays and Thursdays are just too loaded.
NBC premiers 30 Rock in the same time slot with a two of the most popular dramas on TV and a cult hit show like Fringe, a month after all those shows have a chance to establish their audiences? They should be happy if the ratings only stayed neutral. Were they expecting everyone to abandon CSI and Grey’s half way through the episode to catch 30 Rock?
But this doesn’t include DVR numbers right? I’m willing to bet that 30 Rock will be a show that benefits from when those are included.
They need to come out w/ most shows that are on DVR/TiVo for a night & compute those #s. I hardly if ever get a chance to watch all my shows when they’re on LiveTV. & I’m sure I’m not alone.
Wow, Fringe got beat by one of NBC’s struggling Thursday night sitcoms, 30 Rock. Sad : (
Tina Fey makes my trousers get a little tighter.
I flip, I watched Vampires then The Office, 30 Rock and then watched The Menatlist. I do like Fringe (acting, abhorish), and CSI but I watch that on Fancast.
Survior! I have not watched that since the first season! It is still on? Wow, and people watch it??
30 Rock could win like 8,000 Emmys and still not be a good show. Thursday’s show was so not funny.
Agreed. Maybe NBC will cancel their whole Thursday schedule now because all five shows are terrible.
I like this new thing of showing the ratings of all the programs instead of just summarizing in the blurb. Keep it up, EW!
Why don’t they leave 30 Rock at the 8:00 time slot? It is way better than the Office.
Totally! Here’s what i think: 1. They shoulda let 30 rock and parks and rec in on the 8pm spots cause i <3 30 rock more then Flashforward because that show is getting a bit bizzare. 2. they should of put Community and the office in the 9pm slot because the reason why community failed last week was cuz the dumb ass who put it on 8pm didn't think twice about flashforward and their numbers. 3. they should get rid of jay leno all together.
I’m loving that 30R is bombing!!!!
GOOOOOOOOOOD!
Bones is ten times the show Flash Forward is. Flash Forward is “Lost – for Dummies”.
