A source has confirmed to EW.com that the organizers of Macy’s annual Thanksgiving Day parade were instructed by NBC, which broadcasts the event, to rescind an offer for the cast of rival network Fox’s hit series Glee to perform in the parade. (TMZ first reported the story.) Fox and NBC had no comment.
UPDATE: Macy’s spokesperson Orlando Veras sent EW.com this statement: “As with any live event, the talent booking process is a fluid one subject to frequent updates or changes. Due to this fact, we don’t confirm talent appearances for the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade until early November when the final line-up is determined.”
UPDATE 2: Another source close to the event confirmed to EW.com that while the parade has featured talent from other networks — American Idol singers, High School Musical actors — there was concern that featuring the entire cast of a rival’s show amounted to outright promotion.

uncool nbc.
Wow – threatened much NBC?
wow. Can you imagine how much it would suk to work at nbc if it’s this unpleasant to be in their customer base?
Soooo, NBC only wants stars from their own hit shows? That’ll be one short parade!
LOL – good! Could never stand the parade that uses canned instead of live music.
And that ‘dit-ti-dit-ti-tee’ crap between floats just kills me. . .
burrrnnnn
There would only be 1 float… The Today Show.
I can just see it now: The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, with Jay Leno on every other float; they’ll make him jump from one to the other. And when people point out how boring it is and how badly the floats are made, NBC will just say they’re “saving on costs.”
You just made my morning with your comment!! I needed a good laugh!
I want to see how they work in the huge explosions from the Trauma trailers!
Ha ha ha ha ha!
Oh Snap!!
+1 Moxie
LOL!! Very short! People will have time to go home and eat enjoy their Thanksgiving dinner
Please let this be true! FOX hasn’t disappointed me with the SYTYCD tour, they shouldn’t start now.
Wrong post, pal.
Surely, there is more to this than network politics. Why wouldn’t you want to include musical acts that the viewing public might want to see? NBC sure can’t draw in viewers with the crap they try to pass of as quality television.
That’s too bad–would have watched NBC for once, but not now…
So are they just gonna throw Leno in the dang thing? Cuz that seems to be working well.
Yes, they’ll use Leno and televise it an hour and a half earlier. . .
bahahaha exactly.
First they’ll say “The Macey’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is retiring!” Then they will surprise us all by just sticking it an hour and a half earlier with a different format. (The parade will get up close and personal with guests, and feature a go-kart track!)
Dear NBC,
I would’ve tuned into your parade to watch the cast of Glee. Now that I’ve heard about you dumping them, I will make a point not to watch the parade at all.
That was real petty.
Boo to NBC!
I heard that they’re looking to replace all of the floats with televisions on wheels playing Jay Leno…. Pretty pathetic, nbc!
oh oh…..now NBC feeling threatened? NBC is doomed!!!
Didn’t nbc refuse to allow the guy that plays Hiro on Heroes to film an episode of Scrubs which moved to ABC? There was another NBC actress who wasn’t allowed to do the same thing for what was supposed to be Scrub’s final season. Sour grapes!
Yep–Masi Oka and Sarah Lancaster weren’t allowed to be a part of the Scrubs finale.
That made me so sad. I loved Franklin, and really wanted to see him again!
Suppose they held a parade and nobody watched. NBC=Nobody Cares
SO SAD
NBC is a screwed up channel that has no good shows.
Maybe the cast of Southland can take their place. Oh, wait, NBC canceled that one.
