I thought it smacked a little of gay porn, myself. But apparently, the phrase “special relationship” (in this context) dates back to at least 1946 — when Winston Churchill used it in a speech — and refers to the the especially close political, diplomatic, cultural and historical relationship between the US and the UK.

Sounds like this movie will not be on the same level as The Queen. Quaid and David aren’t first choices for their roles.

I can’t believe that Hope Davis wasn’t the original choice. I love Julianne Moore, but Hope looks more like Hilary. I also think Hope is a gem of an actress who hasn’t really had that right part to break her. I am not crazy about the title though, “The Special Relationship’? Sounds more like Lifetime then HBO to me
