According to final numbers from Hollywood.com Box Office, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen grossed $42.4 million for the three-day July 4 weekend, taking the top spot for the three-day weekend over Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs, which grossed $41.6 million. Earlier box office estimates had the films tied for number one.

Hurray. Michael Bay can continue to stick his middle finger up in the air at decent cinema.
LOL, once again Optimus, Megatron and Devastor reign supreme with a dead Mammoth, sabertooth tiger and a T-Rex at their feet. Bring on the boy wizard. lol.
Box Office Mojo had Ice Age winning by about $300K ($42.5 to $42.3 or something similar).
Still, a 60% drop for T2? Ouch.
Can’t say I’m surprised. This has been one of the most awaited sequals since the Dark Knight. Michael Bay and Steven Speilberg have given the Transformers a re-birth for the new generation. I used to love the cartoon, and now these movies made me feel like a kid again. I’m glad my 3 chirdren can experience it this way. Can’t wait to see what Bay can do for a third sequal, but I’m sure he will top himself as he did for Revenge of the Fallen.
Animation is nice, but nothing compares with Megan Fox. Sorry Ice Age.

You knew that Transformers was going to have a big drop this weekend given the huge opening weekend it had and this being a holiday weekend.The first Transformers only made 37 million in its second weekend so this one is still way ahead of that and on pace to make about 400 million,which will easily be the highest grossing movie of the year.

Would all the cinematic genius’s out there who are trashing T2 please inform this lowly, intellectually challenged moron as to why it is such a bad movie? I concede it will not win any screenplay awards, and every female Princeton freshman is not a Maxim pin-up model, but I don’t understand what was so horrible to warrant such passionate hatred from people.
I’ve seen it twice, and it actually does have a decent plot. Yeah, it’s sexist (almost every scene involving Megan Fox)and sacrifices some character development for more action sequences, but that is what most people are looking for!!! Nolan’s take on “Dark Knight” is amazing and perfect for that franchise, but we shouldn’t expect the same “artsy” action/thriller formula for Transformers. It demands an intriguing story, with a few capable actors to relate to while we experience the craziest action and effects ever to grace the screen. Bay pretty much pulled that off.
Another milestone reached today in a very short timespan in theaters (300 million and counting). How soon before it gets to 400 million at its current pace??? It should see north of 350- 360 million by week’s end. I’m guessing it crosses 400 million during Harry Potter’s first weekend.
