Next week’s episode of the Fox TV series Mental will conclude with a quiet salute
to actor David Carradine, who was found dead in a Thailand hotel room
earlier this week. Carradine–most famous for the 1970s TV series Kung Fu and for playing the titular object of Uma Thuman’s wrath in Quentin Tarantino’s Kill Bill
movies–filmed a guest appearance in the Fox drama, shot last summer. In “Book of Judges,” Carradine plays a character named Gideon
Graham, described as “a famous professor, author and philosopher” who falls
into a coma after getting struck by lightning. According to a Fox spokesperson,
Carradine’s episode, which had always been slated to air on June 9, will end
with an “In Memoriam” graphic.
Meanwhile,
the producer of an independent movie called Beyond Legend, Johnny
Kakota, which was set to begin production later this summer with Carradine in a
supporting role, tells EW the film is now looking to recast. Nick
Catello says Carradine’s part had been written specifically for him and that he is “devastated”
by the actor’s death. Carradine
would have played a villainous land baron. Catello says the production is hoping to replace him
with Oscar winner Jon Voight, whom he says had previously expressed interest in
the role. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Carradine’s death has also forced the recasting of what was to be his next project, an independent drama called Portland.
Carradine
had been attached to a number of other projects before his death, including
the work that took him to Thailand, a movie reportedly titled Stretch. EW
will update the status of those projects as information becomes available. (Reported by Missy Schwartz)

It will be a weird feeling watching Mental next week, knowing the actor recently died.

Hes going to be missed
Hes going to be missed.
Hes going to be missed. He was a great actor.
Rest in Peace, “Bill”. You’ll be missed.
Somehow I doubt this episode *really* was just supposed to ‘happen to air’ so soon. Knowing Fox’s rep, they definitely bumped up the release date so they could get some free publicity for a “Mental” episode.
What was the very last song of the show tonight? Who sang it?
i thought he was great in kung fu…very humble warrior priest…awesome..now that i read that his ex wife reported some years ago he was engaged with deviant sexual behavior…which may have something to do with the rope around his neck AND GENITALS! i am wondering if the role of qwai chang should have been given to bruce lee like it was intended to be! bruce lee was promised the part and then they took the role and gave it to carradine…carradine was the better priest i think but as for his fighting ability carradine is a speck compared to bruce lees fighting ability as seen in bruces movies like enter the dragon and return of the dragon ! either way david was a great actor but i feel he was best being the humble priest instead of the bad guy hollywood producers turned him around to be..unfortunate…maybe this finally got to him and secretly he was doing deviant things in his secret life…too bad…i think him and bruce would have been a great pair of renegade priests escape china
I have been enjoying Mental these past two weeks and was excited to see David in the clips for this week’s episode. Sadly I think a lot of people will be like Ace and think this is a cheap publicity stunt instead of a tragic coincidence. In light of that I think Fox should respectful pull the episode to allow the family some healing time.
Ace, they were showing the commercials for the episode before he died.

One night in Bangkok makes a hard man humble
Not much between despair and ecstasy
One night in Bangkok and the tough guys tumble
Can’t be too careful with your company
I can feel the devil walking next to me

Uma didn’t do it. that’s her story and she’s sticking to it.
There’s only one legitimate place I’ve found to see the real photo and a video of it, the rest seem like scams :-/ You can see it over here though: http://vostuu.com/carradine.jpg
