In what could be a brilliant casting move, sources tell EW.com that Cher is in talks to star alongside Christina Aguilera in the Screen Gems’ musical Burlesque. The veteran singer/actress (remember she did win an Oscar for Moonstruck) would play the owner of the burlesque club where Christina works. The film, to be directed by Steve Antin — the brother of Pussycat Dolls founder Robin Antin — centers on a small-town girl who discovers her dreams at a Cabaret-like venue. Cher’s character, sources say, will serve as Aguilera’s mentor. Do you think she’ll be giving out fashion tips?

Oh my gosh oh my gosh I cannot WAIT FOR THIS… I love them both!!! I will be first in line to see this movie… and yes Cher is an AWESOME actress, I loved her in Mermaids as the mom of 2 girls (a young Christina Ricci and Winona Ryder).. everyone should see that movie as well.

I think Christina will do great. She did good on SNL, adding Cher I think has the potential to be really really good! The thing I’m worried about the most is the direction…what else has this guy made? Even if the movie does turn out to be a dud at least there’s going to be a kick-ass soundrack!
