NBC boosted its Sunday night ratings by booting big-budget drama Kings off the schedule. In its place, a two-hour Dateline snagged 6.4 million viewers (as opposed to the mere 3.6 million Kings sired last week), helping lead-out Celebrity Apprentice (7.9 million) score an extra 900,000 watchers. CBS won the night with the Masters Golf Tournament leading into its usually strong primetime lineup (though the numbers in the chart below are slightly skewed because the tournament ran over).
As for the rest of the weekend, ABC ruled Saturday with the annual Easter weekend airing of The Ten Commandments (6.8 million), and CBS’ almost-as-powerful Ghost Whisperer/Flashpoint/Numb3rs lineup won Friday night, as usual.
| Time | Show | Viewers (in millions) |
|---|---|---|
| 7 p.m. | Masters Golf Tournament (CBS) Dateline (NBC) America’s Funniest Home Videos (ABC) American Dad (Fox) Jericho (The CW) |

are they going to air the remaing eps of kings?
I did not like it anyway. Well maybe some people like it.

It was not a new episode of kings anyways, maybe that had something to do with it…
It is sad. Kings is such a good show. Probably the best show on network television. Certainly the most intelligent. I hope a cable network picks it up.
That’s a shame. I caught the pilot of Kings on SciFi over the weekend and then watched the rest of the episodes yesterday. Great show! I’m totally hooked. Sunday night is not that greatest time slot though, so even if it stayed in that slot I’d have to catch it online later.
Wasn’t The Unit the ten o’clock show on CBS last night?? That’s when my DVR recorded it, anyway…
get rid of kings. keep chuck.
KINGS now is programmed on Saturdays, 8 pm.
I think they ought to sell Kings to some cable channel where it might stand out better. NBC just keeps stuffing it where no one sees it.
I enjoy reading the recaps of and comments on my favorite TV shows like Desperate Housewives and 24. I notice that while the CBS shows are regularly rated in the top 15, week after week, often garnering two-thirds of the slots, only Survivor and Amazing Race are recapped. Why is that? I would LOVE to see the recap of one of my most favorite CBS shows, THE UNIT, as part of EW’s TV Watch. Surely, its fans are just as avid as are the fans of 24. Any hope for its inclusion as a regular feature of TV Watch? Please say there is! (I don’t watch NBC on Sunday nights. Nothing there interests me.)
I thought Kings was a pretty good show from watching one episode… Dunno why people still watch the Apprentice, all those “celebrities” are complete toolsheds and the brands they do challenges for are so obscure it’s kind of funny.

I blame poor advertising for the downfall of Kings. I saw nothing from NBC that made me want to watch it. It was my boyfriend who urged me to check it out & after one episode I was hooked. It is easily the best show on network tv.
KINGS is a great show…I am totally hooked. Hopefully the “powers that be” will give it a chance…”smart” shows always take a while to find their audience. Anyway, I hope I am reading POP comment’s correctly and that it is still on..just moved to Saturdays!
i thought kings was great caught the second episode and then had to watch the first 1 online. GREAT show NBC blames shows for lack of ratings but u cannot make a show work by giving it a SATURDAY schedule especially for a new show! i think a weekday slot would do much better for the shows. I just think that most people do not know it is a good show like me i was bored and watch ONE EPISODE now i am hooked i hope it stays around
Stupid move on NBC’s part. Kings deserves a better slot than Saturday night… The show has actually gotten me to watch network TV again. Love it.
I hope NBC realizes that Kings is actually an excellent show, really unlike any other series that’s on television now. I was shocked to see that my DVR didn’t record it this weekend, and then I find out it’s been “booted”?! I really enjoyed watching this show and thought it could have been something of epic proportions, but they decide to nix it after 4/5 episodes? How disappointing. I hope they bring it back (soon)!
Bring Kings back!I am so disappointed it was taken off the schedule. I couldn’t wait to find out what was going to happen with each episode. I hate when a show I started watching gets canceled. It always feels like I left in the middle of a movie and never get the satisfaction of finding out what happens to my favorite characters.
Ratings are a dead concept, who sits and watches television anymore? Most people are watching episodes of their favorite shows on the internet at their own conveniance. Television ratings alone shouldn’t be the only way to judge the popularity of a program.
I love Kings but I always watch them online streaming on NBC website! I am so disappointed that there is no new episodes? This is a great show and I don’t understand why they pull it off??
Kings is one of the best series that I seen, I download all episodies from iTunes, in one of the previous comments thay was right maybe some of us prefer to buy the episodies and not watch on the TV. the raitings needs to be more acurrate with all people watching on line or downloading from other sites.
I really hope that NBC continue with this project.
Extremely dull and unimaginative. A boardroom drama filled with expository dialogue. EEK. Maybe the Book of Lamentations would of been more exciting.
Watched about the 1st 3 episodes of this show and it started to give me the creeps. The whole concept of an American absolute ruler cuts a little to close to the bone of what’s going on in DC.
this is redicuolous. this show is comparable to the first season of heroes in terms of the acting and the good writing.its a shame on NBC to move the show.
Kings is a great show. NBC better not mess it up.
NBC failed itself here. Crummy promotions that didn’t give you any clue what the show might be, a typical ivory tower perception of the “cultural elite”’s worth to the average American, and now another schedule change (first one came before the show even premiered). This is a damn good show, we know its a damn good show, but the marketing dept can’t admit it dropped the ball. How obvious is this – TELL PEOPLE IT’S ABOUT THE BIBLE, AND YOU’LL HAVE AN AUDIENCE BUILT IN.
Kings is an awesome show. NBC’s crap promotion and dooming it with changing time slots has probably killed the show.
Do yourself a favor and do not watch the shows on NBC or Hulu because you will be hooked only to get it taken away from you.
Way to not promote a great show and put on another crap o’ la Southland or whatever.
NBC you suck for ruining one of the most original and creative shows I have seen in a long time.
I only watch shows on HBO. Kings is the first network show I have watched in years. If NBC cancels this show, which it looks like they will, I hope the creators sell it to someone that can handle a show of this quality and depth like HBO or FX or continue to release it on DVD.
