Dancing With the Stars‘ judge (and EW celebrity blogger) Carrie Ann Inaba thinks she may know what — or who — is behind all the crazy injuries on the show this season. From Nancy O’Dell’s torn meniscus to Steve Wozniak’s pulled hamstring, Inaba believes the ouchies may be due to the dancing partners who “have gotten more competitive as the seasons have gone on.” So are Derek Hough, Cheryl Burke, and the impossibly gorgeous Edyta Sliwinska attempting the impossible with their klutzy C-listers? “The professional dancers are getting more and more competitive amongst themselves, and they are pushing their celebrities very hard,” Inaba admitted to EW while walking the red carpet for Nickelodeon’s Kids Choice Awards on March 28. “The professionals’ reputations are at stake, and they want to win the title just as bad if not worse than the celebs because that is what they do for a living. I also think that the celebrities are pushing themselves harder.
“The first season, no one really knew what to expect or what it would take or how hard we would judge them,” Inaba added. “They know that if they do well on the show their careers can take off. It can really help on a business level. Look at Mario Lopez — and he didn’t even win. It is a great stage for America to get to know them for who they are now, and it can be rejuvenating. Plus, they get bragging rights if they win. And a lot of them use it to get in shape. Anyway, I think they start to put in more energy, practice longer, and take bigger risks in the routines, so someone is bound to get hurt. Or a few people as the case has been. But I think they see it as worth it. Big rewards.” (Reporting by Carrie Bell)

My friend chat with celebs on the hottest dating place..wealthyfish.com..First i can’t trust it,then i signed there. It’s true.Exciting.
I’ve always enjoyed Samantha more than most I think. However, last night my wife pointed out someone who I would prefer:
Melissa!
She is upbeat and has experience in the competition. I’m not sure what she has planned after the competition, but I look forward to seeing more of her.
That is a good idea, Pete.
Can I just question why so many celebs are hurting themselves this season? The joke is that more than ever, it’s been VERY obvious from week 1 who the main three/four contenders are: Gilles, Melissa, Shawn, and Kim. No one else has a shot IMO. I mean, beyond not embarrassing oneself out there (ahem, Woz, this week!), I really don’t get the fuss. The competition appears to be more stacked at the top than usual, though we don’t know what Jewel and Nancy were capable of.
Maybe this article is out of context because Carrie and starts out by saying it’s the dancers pushing the stars but ends up saying the stars need it for their carees (so true, duh Carrie Ann, what took you so long).
More stacked at the top??? You mean more even??
I think Mario isn’t the best example, his career was going well when he was on this show.
I would love to see them get a different female judge who is a true professional ballroom dancer. Carrie Ann is OBSESSED with lifts. Maybe that is the only real ballroom dance move she knows.
I have to disagree. It’s not entirely the pros fault that the celebs get injured. But however, they may contribute just a little. Like Melissa’s bruised ribs may have been from Tony lifting her. Holly’s bruises could have been from Dmitri dropping her. I honestly do not think that Derek (my true love# could’ve caused Lil Kim’s #my personal fave’s) torn muscle. Accidents happen. Carrie Ann has never been my fave judge since I started watching it on season four, and I agree that she is addicted to lifts. She always like, “Did your feet come off the floor?” BLAH BLAH. At this point in the competition, I would like to see a Shawn/Mark, Chuck/Julianne, and Derek/Lil Kim finale, with Derek/Lil Kim winning, Shawn/Mark runner up, and Chuck/Julianne coming in third.
