Will Arnett — who voices the Missing Link in Monsters vs. Aliens, which opens today – has only just begun to forge a new career as a voice-over actor. Arnett will lend his vocal cords to the role of an English teacher named Ennis Hofftard in Fox’s animated TV comedy Sit Down, Shut Up (premiering April 19) from Mitch Hurwitz (Arrested Development). He has also accepted an uncredited role in Eva Adams, a drama pilot from Kevin Falls (Journeyman) that’s under consideration for fall, in which he plays a misogynist trapped in a woman’s body.
“I am having a great time doing voice work,” Arnett told EW while attending the Monsters premiere. “I have found a niche. Maybe I should only do animated stuff from now on. Myabe the Arrested Development movie should be animated. I bet more people would have watched our show if it was animated. They’d have gotten confused and thought it was for their kids. That’s a huge audience. Or maybe I shouldn’t be that excited about it. Maybe they just give me the work so my face won’t be on screen.” (Reporting by Carrie Bell)

His voice is so amazing and recognizable. He should do more voiceover, but then we can’t see that face!
It’s far too early to call him the “king” of voiceovers. When he’s done as many things as Maurice LaMarche and is just as good at it as LaMarche, then he can be put under consideration. Don’t forget that there are actors whose whole job consists on voiceovers, and not just the name actors who get the leads in the Dreamworks movies.
“Actors” that do voice over work keep actual voice actors out of work. You should never encourage this recent obnoxious trend because good people can’t find jobs because of this crutch used to build audiences for animated films.
No “Actor” is ever going to be as good at voice work as Maurice LeMarche but the current movie going public is too stupid and too willing to shell out money to hear Jack Black to make filmakers stop using actors that have little to no “voice” talent.
Gotta feed the stupid public what they want!
This is a very funny promo for Sit Down, Shut Up if you haven’t seen it:
