Sources tell EW that Summit Entertainment, the studio behind Twilight, is talking to its favorite vampire, Robert Pattinson, about starring in the project Memoirs. Neither the studio nor Pattinson’s agents would confirm the star’s involvement. The spec script, from young writer Will Fetters, which wound up on 2008’s Black List, centers on two college students who have both experienced personal loss, who fall in love and heal their fractured families. Hollywoodland director Allen Coulter is negotiating to direct the script and screenwriter Jenny Lumet (Rachel Getting Married) is working on the rewrite. Pattinson is currently in preproduction on the Twilight sequel New Moon and is already signed on to the third film in the series, Eclipse.

that would be cool for rob to do something other than twilight maybe he can start getting recognized for his acting abilitys and not just cause he played a certain vampire that every body loves.
This sounds like a great role for Rob
recognized for his acting abilities, bs, you mean have a chance to prove if he has any acting abilities.
Rob is an AMAZING actor. He was incredible in How to Be, the Bad Mother’s Handbook, the Haunted Airman, and has gotten STELLAR early reviews for Little Ashes. Some people clearly are only aware of mainstream f ilms, and have not seen the majority of Rob’s work. People should make sure that they have their facts straight before they post.

I think Rob is really talented. I do hope he would star in other Hollywood films to showcase his acting abilities and not freeze solely in vampire genre. Just like what happened with Orlando Bloom, whom the LOTR served as an opening door for greater opportunities. Hope that will happen with RPAtz too.

I want Rob to do a mixture of blockbuster and small films. He;s such a talented guy. I want him to do musicals a well as comedies and dramas. There’s nothing he cant do. He can do wacky comedies, historical pieces, intense dramas. The guy is very versatile
I remember being in high school when Brad Pitt starred in Interview with a Vampire. Everybody thought that he was just hot and had not potential as a great actor. I now look at him. I see a similar situation with Rob. I thought Rob did a great job in Twilight. I have not seen any of his other movies, but I feel that people simply don’t like him just because he is good looking. Give him a chance people.

Ok some of us HAVE seen his movies and taken the time to base our opinion of his acting not just on Twilight. While I don’t think he is the next Johnny Depp, he is an entertaining actor and has potential. And EW,I love you but enough is enough. Do you really have to follow Pattinson’s every single career move? Are there not other up and coming actors to follow? Give the poor guy a break.
Another star crossed lover movie? Come on… He needs to do something different to see his range. His management needs to focus on his range and not get him type casted after Twilight. Wouldn’t you love to see him as a bad bad boy… a villian? Please don’t do another romance!

Ok….maybe I’m being nit picky or I read it wrong, but Memoirs isn’t on the 2008 Black List. Not that this couldn’t be a great role for Rob, I just thought I’d point out that it’s not on the list.
As for Rob’s acting abilities, he’s 22, untrained, and hasn’t had a load of roles. He has room to grow….I say we let him grow.

Its meant to be a serious drama. A real tester for Rob so I’m pleased. Summit need to nurture him and help him grow to be the next Depp. Good to see the script is so well thought of.
He’s the only young actor coming through in the industry that I think has the potential to be as big as Depp. He needs some good directors but then dont all actors. He has the talent and charm to go far. I can imagine him in evil roles as well as heroic ones. Comedic roles and musical roles. Most actors leave me flat but I;m very drawn to Pattinson. Ok he has good looks but its more than that. Its star potential. Few have it. You want to watch him on screen at the expense of any one else.

Pattinson is a very talented and charming actor. His excellent musical ability and quirky humour is also a draw. The industry needs to stop looking at actors in such a narrow minded way. See Pattinson’s full potential and cast him in musical roles like the Jeff Buckley bio pic or Spring Awakening. He’d make a fine Moritz.

Is it just me or would a romance drama be more of a stretch for him right now? He is in a position where the most likely choice would be a action movie or a heartthrob shoot em up role, but I think that the drama would be better. I would love to see him in a comedy. Judd Apatow book this guy already.
