Dakota Fanning is set to star in the Twilight sequel New Moon, EW has confirmed. The actress will play Jane, a member of Italy’s evil Volturi, in the anticipated movie, which opens in November. She had been in talks to appear in the film ever since she was offered the role in January. “It would be
really cool to do it,” the 15-year-old Fanning told EW at the January premiere of her most recent release, Push, which was also produced by Twilight’s studio, Summit Entertainment. “I am a very big fan of the books. I read them all
and Jane is an interesting part.” Shooting on the movie starts this month in Vancouver. People.com first reported the news today.

She should be in the movie for a maximum of 15-20 minutes tops. And that’s if they don’t go adding ridiculous unnecessary scenes like they did in Twilight.

Dakota Fanning’s a really good choice, as she can actually act. The other actors in the Twilight franchise aren’t actually that talented. Anyway, Miley Cyrus is OLDER than Dakota, and she seriously can’t act. If any Disney stars were cast in New Moon, I probably wouldn’t want to watch it anymore. It would be pretty funny watching them try to act, though.
I think that this is a really good choice, not a great fan of Dakota, but she fits the part…the only other person I could see doing it is AnnaSophia Robb. Can’t wait to see how she plays Jane, give her a chance…
Dakota will be a good choice, she’s very good at playing dark roles and I’ve always admired her as an actress. She’s tiny so she fits the part very well. And she likes the books which means her heart is in the right place. I’m happy.
I am glad that Dakota Fanning is playing the role of Jane in Twilight. I am not a fan of the movies, but I am glad the cast director picked a great choice.
This is a very good choice, I think Dakota will inflict lots of silent pain. I want to see who plays the baby in the end game, and how the fight scene plays out. This was a better read than watch so far.
Has anyone seen Dakota lately on the talk shows? She was pushing her new movie PUSH a few weeks ago. She is really growing up fast. No longer a kid — but a young adult wannabe. She was always OLD for her age. Now it’s like she is in her 20s …despite only being 15.

I saw the first twilight just because I went with a friend that likes it. I thought it was a complete waste of an already low budget. The movie did nothing special in filming and the acting was pretty bad. Like…first Harry Potter movie bad acting. I might see this one just because Dakota is a really good actress…when her role isn’t the screamy kid like in War of the Worlds.

Nadia, you definitely are wrong about this, because anybody would be better than Dakota Fanning, especially Miley Cyrus. Dakota Fanning acts like a block of wood, like she has no life outside of mediocre acting in blockbuster movies (how much did she actually add to War of the Worlds?). The first movie got awful reviews and needed something to save it, and believe me, this overproduced stage kid is not it. Miley gives all of her parts energy and life, words that Dakota probably doesn’t even know, so you may not like the girl, but she is better than her by a long shot.
