EW caught up with Twilight star — and Oscar presenter — Robert Pattinson at the Academy Awards’ Governors Ball on Sunday night. The actor was hanging out near the party’s sushi bar and had just posed for a photograph with one of the girls from Slumdog Millionaire, when he offered this tidbit on his post-Oscar plans: “This is my last night of light. I go up to Canada soon [to shoot the Twlight sequel, New Moon]. And my character goes 50 times darker then it did in the first movie.” –Nicole Sperling

The Academy Awards is one of my all-time awaited events every year and this year’s attendance by Rob P. made it all the sweeter. You did fine, Rob. A bit shy, but hey I’d be surprised to be able to speak at all if I ever get to go on that stage.
I was hoping we’d see Edward and bella happy scenes at the start of New Moon. They need to develop the relationship before Edward leaves

I saw Rob at the Oscars this morning on Today. He was sitting behind Mickey Rourke.

It does seem a little much since he’s been in approximately 3 movies and was only a minor presenter last night (not that I mind…!). And how did he score that seat behind Mickey Rourke?? If he’s in with some influential Hollywood types, then there better be some good movie roles on the horizon (and playing Dali in ‘Little Ashes’ is not what I mean)…

To all of you haters out there that love to hate all things Twilight, Rob Pattinson was freakin’ hot last night. There were no surprises or controversies really to speak of, so of course EW is going to be talking about Rob. As I said before, Brad Pitt who? Little Ashes and New Moon are going to be great. And yeah Twilight was not the greatest movie in the world, but Rob’s acting helped.
Loved seeing R Pattz behind some Mickey Rourke last night. I laughed out loud and totally stopped listening to the presenters. I was too distracted. Not because of R Pattz’s “hotness” but because of his super-awkwardness. He has to be one of the most awkward people I’ve seen in Hollywood. He and Kristen Stewart go together like peas and frickin’ carrots.

Glad to see Rob – and my my, I could have told them, the hair controversy was all for naught – obviously, well on it’s way to growing back! New Moon will be fabulous (and it’s my least favorite book). He is just fabulous and if he takes care, will be for years to come. With their talent & instincts, he & Kristen have brought Twilight to where it should be. It is a mature love story and the movies are going to be bigger than ever – and never forgotten.

It was great seeing Rob at the Oscars (hopefully one day he’ll get one!). But he really seems to be unhappy everytime we see him. What is the deal? It’s like he’s unhappy that he was ever in Twilight, but if he hadn’t been it could’ve been years until he was really noticed. I guess maybe it’s because we are all obsessed with his looks rather than his acting? And maybe he doesn’t want to be a teeny-bopper heart-throb? Either way, you would think at some point he’d get over whatever it is about his success he doesn’t like and enjoy it.
