Because Emily Blunt’s commitment to Twentieth Century Fox and the studio’s upcoming Gulliver’s Travels movie may prohibit her from costarring in Iron Man 2, Marvel is in discussions with other actresses, most significantly Scarlett Johansson, to take her place, EW has learned exclusively. Marvel will not confirm, but sources around Hollywood say Johansson has indeed met with the filmmakers and is interested in taking the role of Russian superspy Natasha Romanoff, who doubles as Black Widow. Blunt’s reps are still trying to make both projects work, but Gulliver’s is further along, with a start date of April 15. Iron Man 2 still doesn’t have a shooting script and a start date has not yet been determined.

Hm…Johannson is certainly buxom enough to play a comic book character, but I definitely think Blunt has the advantage as far as acting ability.
Come on! While Johansson has gotten much better in the last few years, she is hardly at Blunt’s level. Rachel McAdams or Amy Adams would both be great, and if the casting director is truly feeling authethintic how about Olga Kurleyenko (sp) she’s actually Eastern European!

Oh God not Scarlett. I like Emily a lot but if she can’t do it I don’t understand why they can’t hire an actual Russian actress. People have been known to act, and act well outside of Hollywood. There is no way this movie would suffer by not having another big name in there. It’ll gross a ton of $ no matter who they cast. So why not go with an actual Russian and spare us listening to Scarlett’s bad accent.
Eliza Dushku would be perfect for this role. Not only does she speak Russian, she can do all facets of Black Widow’s character – tough, kick-ass, sultry, sexy, and angsty, better than either Blunt or Johansenn.
What’s more, she wants the role!
Hopefully the day is soon coming when Hollywood hacks will wake up and realize that Scarlett Johansson is CRAP. People are TIRED of this commodity being shoved down our throats. I agree with many of the comments already posted we need someone other then Scarlett. I’m really sick of the well endowed women that always seem to be chosen for the role just because they full chested. but with that said I don’t like the thin tooth pick look either. Yes get a looker in there, but she has to be able to kick butt and take names too.
