Chris Brown and Rihanna: More fallout

As more details emerge about Chris Brown’s alleged assault of Rihanna, aftermath from the incident continues to grow in scope. Two events have been affected: A concert Rihanna had scheduled in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, for this Friday, Feb. 13, was indefinitely postponed today; and an NBA spokesperson tells EW that Brown has withdrawn from his scheduled appearance at pro basketball’s All-Star Game this weekend.

What’s more, a slew of companies and organizations have moved to distance themselves from Brown:

* The Wm. Wrigley Jr. Company, which had prominently featured Brown in a TV campaign for Doublemint Gum starting last year, took the ad off the air, saying, “Wrigley is concerned by the serious allegations made against Chris Brown. We believe Mr. Brown should be afforded the same due process as any citizen. However, we have made the decision to suspend the current advertising featuring Brown and any related marketing communications until the matter is resolved.”

* The Milk Mustache campaign tells EW that its “got milk?” print ad starring Brown was already scheduled to end its run this week, but adds in a statement, “The Milk Mustache campaign is taking the allegations against Chris Brown very seriously. We are very proud and protective of the image of the Milk Mustache campaign and the responsible message it sends to teens.”

* Sesame Street tells EW that a 2007 episode guest-starring Brown is being pulled from future airings.

Stay tuned for more news on the latest developments in this case.

Another celeb site is reporting that it aint what it looks like. That she was the clingy jealous type and HE wanted to leave and that’s what caused the argument.

  • Gabby

Ok, Chicago48, let me get this straight, if you have a clingy, jealous girlfriend and you want to leave, you should give her a black eye and bite marks? Yeah, makes a WHOLE lot of sense…all you have to do is say “it’s over” not beat her up! It doesn’t matter what the argument was about, what Chris Brown did was dirty.

  • cthemusic

This is in response to Chicago48. It doesn’t matter who started the arguement. No man or woman should inflict violence on another person period! Rihanna, no matter what she did, did not deserve this.

  • Cara

Doesn’t matter what it “looks” like. She could be a shrieking , forked-tail harpy and there would still be no justification for his violent reaction. The reports of her injuries seem to be mixed at this point, but if he truly did hurt her, there’s just no justification. Men do not hit women–it’s not even a matter of chivalry, it’s a matter of difference in physical strength. It’s not acceptable.

  • djm

Well, the only 2 people that were there was them so who really knows? It’s pretty simple – guys shouldn’t hit girls and girls shouldn’t hit guys (it goes both ways). It sounds like these two need to grow up and learn how to have a healthy relationship.

I really glad it’s Rhianna. I have nothing against the girl but these stories are sooooooo much sexier when they happen among celebrities. It’s like a theatre piece (for the uninvolved) that will, sadly, run its course quickly enough. Maybe it’s why Whitney was at the Grammy’s. One of those “you can only be free once someone takes your place” type deals. Phoenixes and sunrise/sunset and God closing one door/opening another, and all that jazz. Let’s just hope, if that the case, that the crack binge to come won’t be enough to make the comeback tour tickets grossly overpriced. OOOHH! maybe Bobby can mentor Chris on VH1! This is truly a gift that keeps on giving! It’s the best Christmas EVER! Free gum for everyone, courtesy of Double Mint! Yaaaaaaaaaaaaay!

If ur girl gave you herpes you never know WHAT you may do. BUT you still just cant hit her!

  • Nathan

Chris Brown is the new Bobby Brown! And by that I mean a very moderately talented woman beating slug.

  • wakeforce

If A woman a man he has every right to defend himself. Some women feel they can take on men. If you feel you are bad enough to raise your hand to a man, you deserve what you get. I’m not saying that Rihanna threw the first punch, but women can’t do what guys do and still be a lady.

  • wakeforce

it was supposed to say if a man HITS a woman…

  • A Tip For Chicago48

Here’s a tip on how to break up with a girl: Call her say it’s over. Don’t party with her. Don’t get matching tattoos. Don’t beat her up. AND don’t bite her. Hey makes sense to me !!! And by the way, the law doesn’t care how clingy a woman is.

  • Self Defense???

First of all, if Rihanna had attacked Chris Brown then he would have had scratches, bites, bruises or something on his body. But no one is reporting that he has any marks on him at all. So why would he be justified in in attacking Rihanna like that? Also if she gave him an STD why was he partying with her? He didn’t just find out on the car ride home from the party that he had an STD. And if he did, I have friends got HIV from boyfriends and they didn’t attack anybody. There is still no excuse.

  • Zsa Zsa Giggleman

Dr Rand Pink heard on a radio station in Miami that Rihanna was offered a deal to endorse Sarah Jessica Parker’s clothing line Bitten

  • Patar

Rihanna cancelled performance at Jakarta, Indonesia in Feb 12 also! So pissed off of that since it’s the second time she cancelled her show here. First time because the security issue on November…Grrr…

  • Veronica

The Bitten joke just made my vibrator fall out from laughing.I’m multi tasking sorry I can’t wait for her first song that she writes about this incident-will there be a dramtic reenactment in the video. I see song of the year drum up the promotion department of the label I smell a hit. Will domestic violence be the hot genre for 09. Will Britney rerelease HIt Me Baby One More Time

  • futrdoc

(singing…) It’s like I waited my whole life, for this one night, it’s gon be me you and a closed fist; cause I only got one night to double my punches, double my bites, that last forever, ever, ever. and ever, ever, ever…lol

  • futrdoc

(singing..) its like I waited my whole life, for this 1 night, its gon be me you and a closed fist; cause I only got 1 night to double my punches, double my bites that last forever, ever, ever…

  • j

he was once my hero…nvm then wtf thats messsssssssssssssssed up

  • Blue Silver

No matter how this ends up, Brown will have the stigma of being a woman beater and a violence prone individual. So funny how any career derails virtually overnight. Although I’m not a fan of either, I still wish Rihanna the best; which will see her album sales surge while Brown’s will plummet. See ya Brown!

  • Wiseman

Chris Brown, you are such a punk @ss! Shame on you! Never did like your so called music. How about that Lily Allen?

  • Spider

Well, time for many of us to switch musical tastes!!!! How about checkin’ out Duran Duran’s “What Happens Tomorrow” or “Beautiful Colors” or even “Finest Hour” to lighten up the mood. These are troubled times and this world needs positive, optimistic music!!!!

  • deja

Chris brown didn’t do it u people are just jealous because ge got rihanna and u don’t so do me a favor and leave chris brown alone.

  • Marley

What’s with the jokes? What funny about a woman being beaten?

  • RoMAdD

Ummm… Im not a fan of both but no matter how the argument started, or how bad it is, a man should never hit a woman. Even if the woman hits the man first. Thats it! If all this is true, well… Brown just destroyed his own career and image.

  • Twist

    INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY.

  • RoMAdD

yessss ssssir! until proven guilty! :)

  • Spider

I totally agree that a man should never hit a woman. That is just low. Only cowards hit women! Chris, you just pissed your relationship, credibility, integrity, career, etc. away!!!!

  • Frances

I really think every one should shut up, who cares, just becuase thier STARS don’t mean we should care anymore than just average Joe, thier human they will make mistakes, I like them both and I will still listen to Chris Brown even if he did what every one is saying, Just becuase he’s a STAR don’t mean he shoould be punished harded than anyone else.

  • Frances

I had a family member stab her boyfriend and she got probation….So there really is no fair justice, I hope he don’t go to Jail, becuase it will just show how on fair the justice system is.

  • Sarah

WTF! Why are people spreading this STD rumor? That’s a serious thing to put on the web and especially if isn’t true that Rihanna doesn’t have an STD to pass on to Chris Brown. There is no proof of this. Not even major news organization is repeating that slanderous garbage. Stick to the facts people! If you don’t know what happened, wait until the police make the report public. But making it up isn’t cool.
