If people knew their art history a little better, they would see that Shepard is simply strip mining the past to further his own status, claiming he is creating cutting edge designs that represent today&#039;s current times that we live. Wrong. It is actually a gigantic rip from Russian Constructivism poster art. The same red and black flat colors with a call to action.
Founded in 1913 by Vladimir Tatlin, the Russian Constructivist movement developed from Cubism in Russia and the Bauhaus School in Germany. The term Constructivism is used to define non-representational relief construction, painting, kinetics, and sculpture. As a response to changes in technology and contemporary life at the time, it advocated a change in the art scene, aiming to create a new order in art and architecture that referenced social and economic problems. The movement even had a &#039;manifesto&#039;, as does Shepard.
It is ironic he has created a poster that asks for change,
