EW spoke to a source close to the Sex and the City movie sequel and learned that the project is getting “Ever closer, every day.” Although none of the four stars — Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Cynthia Nixon, and Kristin Davis — has signed their deals yet, all are on board to start shooting this summer with a release date set for summer 2010. Likewise, while creator and uber-fast screenwriter Michael Patrick King has yet to complete a script, he apparently does have an idea he wants to pursue. “It’s going to be more comedic, and shorter, than the first,” says the insider. But, in this economy, will it be as centered on the fabulous clothes, shoes, and other expensive accessories? To an extent, yes, because no one wants to mess too much with the SATC brand that is beloved by millions. But there will be care taken to not flaunt the Dolce & Gabbana and Christian Louboutin gear as much as before. And what about Mr. Big? Did he lose all his cash in the stock market? Uh, that would be a no. “There’s still a need for escapism,” the source says.

sweeeet! =) and what’s the big deal about flaunting expensive stuff in a movie? fabulous is fabulous, whether you can afford it or not. i’m not one of the lucky ones who can afford ANYTHING i want (yet), but i still love drooling over it.
All I know this movie better be Sex and the City and not the Carrie Bradshaw Autobiography the last movie was. Also Standford’s boyfriend BETTER be in this movie. BETTER! They were so cute together. More Charlotte, more Samantha growing up. It’s not a pretty sight seeing a 50 year old ho. More Steve and Miranda. Do a guest spot with Adian.
I’m not sure about this. The last movie made Big an even BIGGER jerk (C. shoulda dumped him in season one) and turned Steve (best character) into a cheater. What’s next? Left at the alter part 2? Harry becomes a cheater? Leave the characters alone.
Carrie didn’t feel like Carrie at all in the last movie, even before the wedding drama. No quirky quips, no flaws. She was too put together and felt like a totally differently character. I hope they bring back the old Carrie vibe.
Stephanie is absolutely right. The problem with the movie was that the show wrapped things up perfectly, so the writer had to go WAY out of his way to manufacture drama. As a result, we got Big being a jerk (AGAIN!) and Steve cheating on Miranda (which I never EVER thought Steve would do).
The one encouraging thing is that King says this movie will be shorter.
This is my favorite show and movie and hope so much there is a number two movie. I also loved the LIPSTICK JUNGLE but stupid NBC cancelled it. IT WAS NOT AS GOOD AS SEX AND THE CITY but it was very close and definalty had a place in my heart.

“Big” should have the big one, heart attack and pass away, leaving Carrie and Samatha single, sort of like young “Golden Girls” and Miranda and Charlotte still married, contrasts in life styles, not so young singles and their married friends.
