Dakota Fanning’s reps confirmed today that the child actress has in fact been offered the role of Jane, a member of Italy’s evil Volturi, for the Twilight sequel New Moon. The news was first reported by E! Online. No deal has yet been made. In fact, Fanning and her reps have not met New Moon director Chris Weitz nor Summit Entertainment, the studio behind the franchise. Rumors of the offer were swirling before Fanning’s camp even received the official one. They will now meet with Weitz and company next week. New Moon is scheduled to begin shooting in March in Toronto and Italy.

OMFG! i lovee dakota fanningg! i think she will be fantastic as Jane, one of my favorite characters and can portray her verry well, seeing how good an actress she is.

I am not excited to see this report. I am sick of Dakota and her drive to be considered a serious actress. She should lie low for a few years until we are ready for her to COMEBACK like most other child stars. The trailer for her new film “Push” just makes her look like a wannaby Hayden Pan from “Heroes.”
Jane should be someone BA, not someone who made me walk out of “Uptown Girls.”
i have always loved Dakota’s works (especially I am Sam) and i know she’ll be great for the role. hope she’s not too expensive though heheheh.
one thing i can say: Dakota can surely act, talent like hers should not be wasted
She’s an outstanding actress and has been she was a wee little thing. She’s been one of my favorite actresses (along with Cate Blanchett and Judy Davis) for a long time.
She’ll bring a lot to the movie.
wow i am not pleased. dakota fanning is a “child actor” i’d rather see an older person play jane. The reason the Volturi were after the cullens is because they believed they created an immortal child which is completely against the rules. so they destroy immortal children and yet they have a little girl vampire running around with the volturi. that really sucks i’m dissapointed. dakota isn’t even scary enough to be jane
She’s okay, I guess. They could choose someone better though. Someone I knew once met her. Dakota fanning bumps into my cousin and just says “Move.” My cousin replies with
“What else?”. then Dakota just says “Just move, don’t you know who I am?”

The Volturi are against immortal children…that is, INFANTS that were turned into vampires. Children (and really, Dakota is almost 15 – not that young) are an entirely different story.

Well this is kinda thinking outside the box, but what if Dakota played Jane and Alec, like Lindsey Lohan did in parent trap. Get her wigged and made up, and I thinks it would be evem more creepy if they looked almost identical. Her price tag may just be worth it, if she played 2 minor roles instead of just the one.
dakota fanning is a spectacular pick for jane! everyone is saying how she’s a child actor. she’s 15! they can make her up and make her look older. and besides jane is supposed to have a child like face/voice. Dakota fanning is an amazing actress and i believe she would bring alot to the part.
