Fox announced today that it'll order a full season of The Cleveland Show, an animated spin-off of Family Guy that's set to bow in fall 2009. The show follows Cleveland Brown (voiced by Mike Henry), an African-American character from Guy, as he settles down with his high school sweetheart Donna (Sanaa Lathan) and her kids. Arianna Huffington will also join the cast in a recurring role.
The new comedy from Guy creator Seth MacFarlane had originally been picked up for only 13 episodes. Fox released this "statement" from Cleveland Brown: "Fox picking up nine more episodes of our show is proof that an African-American can make it in this country. This is a milestone for the United States of America."
