Howimetmother_l CBS' Monday night line-up continued to perform solidly with How I Met Your Mother (pictured) tallying its season-high number of 9.8 million viewers, according to preliminary overnight ratings, even though its lead-in, Big Bang Theory, actually dipped slightly to 9.7 million from last week's 10 million. At 9 p.m., the Eye's Two and a Half Men performed strongly (opposite Dancing With the Stars, no less) with 15.2 million viewers, a 4 percent increase from the previous week. And Worst Week, which had been struggling, saw its highest numbers since the premiere with 10.4 million viewers. CBS also dominated the 10 p.m. hour with CSI: Miami's 15.4 million viewers.

Over at ABC, with the season finale of Dancing With the Stars fast approaching, the reality competition's audience grew to 19.7 million viewers last night, 1.1 million viewers more than last week. The increased viewership only added slightly to Dancing's lead-out, Samantha Who?, which earned 11.1 million viewers, a minor increase from last week's 11 million. Capping off ABC's night at 10 p.m., Boston Legal averaged 8.5 million eyes, a dip of about 4 percent from last week.

NBC's schedule continued to see disappointing results with its Heroes and My Own Worst Enemy but actually saw an uptick in viewers for Chuck. Last night's episode averaged 6.8 million, 600,000 more viewers than last week. But that's where the good news ends. Heroes dipped to 7.6 million viewers, down 300,000 from last week. Things were even worse for the canceled Enemy, which continued to drop: last night's episode only reached 4 million, a dip of 7 percent from the previous episode.

While Fox's two Monday series, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles and Prison Break, hardly enjoyed blockbuster numbers, they did see slight increases: Chronicles posted 5.3 million, a 100,000 boost from last week, while Break hit 5.9 million, up half a million viewers.

The CW's Gossip Girl and One Tree Hill both struggled to reach 3 million viewers last night. GG (2.9 million) and OTH (2.7 million) dropped 6 percent and 10 percent, respectively, from the previous week.

Last night's HIMYO was classic, woooo? Was disappointed when the lead Sven did not turn out to be an alter-ego of NPH, though. I could have sworn it was him when the 3 Svens first showed up. I could totally see NPH pulling that off. whoo!

You have to keep in mind that Gossip Girl is on the CW which if they get like 5 million viewers is good. that being said its because its made up of pretty rich teens who have "dramatic" lives. thats why all the press.

Hooray for Worst Week! I really want this show to be saved. I know it's a blatant rip-off of Meet the Parents and I know it's pretty much the same thing every week, but I love it, and I love the main actor.

Sven Wed, Nov 19, 2008 at 01:04 PM EST

HIMYM is the funniest show on TV right now by far.....better than Friends ever was. Probably in my Top 5 of all time!

Amanda Wed, Nov 19, 2008 at 12:50 PM EST

I'm excited about HIMYM and Chuck those are two of my favorite shows!!

pink Wed, Nov 19, 2008 at 12:35 PM EST

I love My Own Worst Enemy! I wish it was not canceled! NBC SUCKS!!!!
I hope cable picks it up!!!

Jackie Wed, Nov 19, 2008 at 09:31 AM EST

I am so glad HIMYM is doing so well this season. I remember when, after each season, we would wait with baited breath to find out if it had been renewed. It seriously is one of the funniest shows out there, if not the funniest.
Chuck is even better this season than it was last. We started watching because of Adam Baldwin (huge Firefly fans) and stayed because it's brilliant. Monday's episode was an instant classic. Casey's High C was totally unexpected and rewound numerous times. The fight sequences, special effects, sets have all been incresed this season to great effect. I love how the Buy More characters are still an integral part of the show (who doesn't love Morgan?). I can't praise it enough. I'm very tired of hearing that it is struggling to find an audience though. The truth is it's struggling to find a LARGER audience. The audience that it has loves and appreciates it very much! Oh, and I really enjoy Eli Stone too.
EW you need to add a weekly Chuck recap.

I totally agree with steph. those tow shows are so underappreciated... :(

steph Wed, Nov 19, 2008 at 08:25 AM EST

HIMYM and The Big Bang Theory are two of the best shows on TV right now. I'm glad they're doing so well :D

Craig Tue, Nov 18, 2008 at 11:38 PM EST

Good news for both Chuck and HIMYM, two of my favorite shows on TV. As for Heroes... the show has become so joyless and so unsatisfying that it totally makes sense why the ratings are down every week.

manafasc Tue, Nov 18, 2008 at 10:08 PM EST

Prison Break is terrible there alot of mindless nitwits watching that just pure slop.It should be canned already, stupid dumb useless show if you can even call it a "show"!!!

Destiny Tue, Nov 18, 2008 at 09:18 PM EST

I Love "The Big Bang Theory". It is one of the best shows and I hope it stays around for awhile. Its awesomely funny!!!!

Barackk Tue, Nov 18, 2008 at 09:07 PM EST

Loving HIMYO. So funny and actually has a heart. I'm so happy its doing well-- although they should probably bring Back Britney Spears after she brought teh highest rating to the show ever with 10.9 million viewers. And Heroes............ how much i USED to love that show..... I was eager to see it every week, i counted down the. What happened. No wonder the ratings are so bad, dipping a couple houndred thousand each week.... its unbearable to watch anymore. The acting, teh repetitive story line, each epiisode feels like a year. And its actually heartbreaking when comparing it to the classic, brilliat, stunning first season. At this rate, it will probably end the year with 7 million viwers, down from last years 12 million. Don't expect season four if the ratings continue like this..... peace

CandyMaize Tue, Nov 18, 2008 at 08:46 PM EST

I'm really happy for HIMYM, especially since it scored higher than its lead-in (sounds like folks switched from DWTS over to HIMYM). And also for CHUCK .. I hope it keeps those numbers next week (ahh heck, I hope it builds on them even!).
And, although slight, I'm glad TTSCC got an increase as well (I'm thinking that some of the reg viewers who didn't watch last week - its 1st week back after being pre-empted - realized it was back and tuned in).

pai Tue, Nov 18, 2008 at 08:10 PM EST

Excellent for How I Met. I look forward to it every week now.

Stefanie Tue, Nov 18, 2008 at 08:05 PM EST

Heroes is one of the best shows this season! All the haters need to disappear cuz they don't know what hteir talking about..I think the only problem they have is the timing of the show, they cant compete with DWTS, the show should air on a different night thats all..

Jim from Saint Paul Tue, Nov 18, 2008 at 06:28 PM EST

T-Rex: I am intriguied by your views and would like more inrofmation. Do you have a newsletter?

Crystal Tue, Nov 18, 2008 at 06:23 PM EST

Viva Charles Carmicheal! Keep on climbing buddy! I also watch GG and HIMYM, but Chuck needs the good ratings news more.

T-Rex Tue, Nov 18, 2008 at 06:14 PM EST

Guess what? I just solved the Heroes problem. Fire them all and turn the show into Hiros. All Hiro, all the time.

Oh, and New York NEEDS a fire breathing T-Rex building.

doogie Tue, Nov 18, 2008 at 05:58 PM EST

HIMYM is the best sitcom since Friends.

Andrew Tue, Nov 18, 2008 at 05:48 PM EST

This has been a terrible season of DWTS yet raings go up! Why?

jack Tue, Nov 18, 2008 at 05:38 PM EST

Chuck was lame. The twist with the girlffriend didn't make any sense. And the "clues" were silly. Why didn't they just kidnap Chuck to start with... why go through all that hastle?

billyc Tue, Nov 18, 2008 at 05:23 PM EST

how does Gossip Girl get SO much press when it's numbers are so terrible? 3 million viewers?

Kate Tue, Nov 18, 2008 at 05:22 PM EST

I can't believe I forgot to tape CBS last night, I remembered just as I was thinking hmm, what to watch at ten if I don't feel like watching the Hills

Cheri Tue, Nov 18, 2008 at 05:14 PM EST

I'm glad Chuck did better. Of course Enemy saw a dip. Why are people going to invest any more in a show that has been canceled? I liked the show, but deleted from my DVR list because...why bother?

e Tue, Nov 18, 2008 at 05:06 PM EST

i wish gossip girl would get more viewers :(

DanOregon Tue, Nov 18, 2008 at 05:03 PM EST

WOOOOOO!!!

Brian Tue, Nov 18, 2008 at 05:01 PM EST

HIMYM is the best show on tv. It's about time people start wathing! Legen---wait for it----dary!

I'm also enjoying Worst Week. I find myself laughing outloud during this show.

Jesse Tue, Nov 18, 2008 at 05:00 PM EST

yay for Chuck.... hahahahah for Heroes, just cancel the show all ready NBC, HEROES SUCKS!!!!!!

Danica Tue, Nov 18, 2008 at 04:59 PM EST

I'm glad Chuck and HIMYM had better numbers. I hope they get a lot of viewers. Those are my favourite shows this year.

mark Tue, Nov 18, 2008 at 03:55 PM EST
