Kelly Clarkson, the first and arguably most successful American Idol winner, announced on her blog in late October that she has finished recording her fourth album. And while no release date or title has been set, producer Dr. Luke (real name: Lukasz Gottwald), who has worked with Avril Lavigne, Britney Spears, Katy Perry, and, most recently, Weezer, tells EW.com that a new single could be out as soon as December — and that it will arrive without a hint of country twang, as some had speculated.
If anything, the song, by virtue of its title, “My Life Would Suck Without You,” and the production team behind it, could be seen as a Part B to Clarkson’s monster 2004 hit, “Since U Been Gone.” As it turns out, Dr. Luke says he started developing the new song with pop maestro and “Since U Been Gone” collaborator Max Martin years ago. “After ‘Since U Been Gone,’ we wrote all these songs for Kelly,” Dr. Luke says. “This one, which I think is the first single, we had the chorus a while ago and added the verse more recently. They were going to have it out on Nov. 20, but it just got too late. So now they’re thinking Dec. 8 for a worldwide release, but I wouldn’t be surprised if that ends up being early January.” (A rep for Clarkson says the single has yet to be chosen.)
With a
new team in place (including manager Narvel Blackstock, Reba McEntire’s husband) and the drama of My December behind her, Clarkson exuded nothing but confidence in the
studio, Dr. Luke says. “It’s sick. She sings a song in two hours and kills it. You’re just, like, ‘holy s—.’ She has powerful lungs. She’s like the Lance Armstrong of vocal chords.”

The album should be called lukasz gottwald featuring kelly clarkson. Alot of artists who don’t write they’re material have a tendency to rely on “hitmakers” what happens when luke isn’t around?… oh yeah “my december”.

If I recall, Kelly wrote Because of You, co wrote Behind These Hazel Eyes, Miss Independent, Walk Away, Trouble With Love Is, Never Again and a crapload of other songs.
So I beg to differ that Kelly can’t write hits.

Sorry to disappoint you Dale but Kelly does not need Luke for a hit. AND he didnt even do the whole album… he only did a couple songs. And do you research before you start bashing Kelly. My December was a GREAT album!! It just didn’t get promoted because of dumbass clive davis.
I can’t wait! Kelly has collaborated with many other writers, but took part in writing i’d say about half the album. She isn’t just handed songs. She choses great songs that other great talents/writers create. Something that she can relate to. Who wouldn’t? It gives another perspective into her ideas. Anyway, I’m totally stoked to hear what’s coming. She working with Ryan Tedder from One Republic who worked on Bleeding Love for Leona Lewis and Beyonce’s new Halo. Also some of the producers for britney’s new album. This is going to be a monster hit album. GO KELLY!

Hell yes! About time Kell came out with a new single. Never Again did decent but she really hasn’t had a hit since Walk Away or because of you. I hope this one is huge and hope this album is even bigger than breakaway

Country twang?! She doesn’t need that–that’s Carrie Underwood territory. I don’t know why My December didn’t do that well. Seeing her perform Never Again live just gives me goosebumps
I love that “My December” was so generally ignored by the music community. It makes me feel like it’s somehow more exclusive, like my favorite indie bands–just for the people who “get” it

In other news, a) All pop stars use additional writers on their songs. Where have you been? b) That is a ridiculously unattractive picture of Kelly, which is unfortunate because we all know she can look good. Yeesh.

My December went platinum (shipped out 1,000,0000) but as of right now, has sold 770000.
And the country reference is meant to say that there are a good amount of “pop” stars who go into country and they are trying to distant Kelly away from them.
But just for the record, I would totally buy a Country Kelly album =P
