Fox announced today that it’ll order a full season of The Cleveland Show, an animated spin-off of Family Guy that’s set to bow in fall 2009. The show follows Cleveland Brown (voiced by Mike Henry), an African-American character from Guy, as he settles down with his high school sweetheart Donna (Sanaa Lathan) and her kids. Arianna Huffington will also join the cast in a recurring role.
The new comedy from Guy creator Seth MacFarlane had originally been picked up for only 13 episodes. Fox released this “statement” from Cleveland Brown: “Fox picking up nine more episodes of our show is proof that an African-American can make it in this country. This is a milestone for the United States of America.”

Joze – a while back Loretta cheated on Cleveland with Quagmire, and ended up deciding to leave him.
I love Sanaa Lathan and will watch her in anything, but the casting of Arianna Huffington is really intriguing!

Wow, does this small group of commenters represent all of Family Guy’s fan base, reading this magazine? I guess it’ll take another six years for the show to be appropriately appreciated. Anyway, I can’t wait for The Cleveland Show to be successful enough for Fox to finally cancel the dismally second rate American Dad. Speaking of which, I see Arianna Huffington in the recurring role just as the ‘distinguished’ Patrick Stewart recurs on American Dad.
