one of, if not, the greatest actors of alll time. he never gave a poor performance. every one is an excellent piece of acting. my memories go back to my first paul newman film, harper. i fell in love. the sting was a delight, cat on a hot tin roof raw emotions, and the verdict was a powerful, down on his luck, vibrant character who wanted to correct a serious wrong. i have loved every movie of his, especially exodus. he is a sincere, dedicated, and wonderful actor, and the same off screen. i always buy paul newman products because he donates ALL of the procedes to childhood cancer camps. he was a generous, caring soul, and i miss him terribly. god rest his soul.

Sorry I’m late to the comment discussion. I’m still sad to read about such an amazing human being. One of the first grown-up (i.e. non-Disney) movies my mom ever took me to see was The Sting. I was 7 and didn’t get every joke, but thought it was the best movie I had ever seen. Later when I was 16 I snuck in to see The Verdict. I seems like a strange “sneak in” movie like Porky’s or Fast Times at Ridgemont High at the time, but was riveted by this moral portrait of a broken man. “There are no other cases… This is the case” still stands as some of the greatest dialogue ever given. I still think he should have won best actor in The Verdict and when he FINALLY won for Color of Money I knew justice was served. Goodbye Mr. Newman. You will be missed.

Thank you for your beautiful tribute to Paul Newman. When I first took note of him in ‘The Verdict’ when I was eleven,I knew then that he was one of a kind–and classy in demeanor onscreen and off. I enjoyed him and his work very much. I will miss him.

Two of the greatest men/actors ever. Paul Newman and Harrison Ford. When Harrison dumped his wife for Calista, he lost the respect of alot of women who looked at him as “Mr. Wonderful”. Paul Newman was a real man. He knew what love and committment really means. I know he is in a better place. God bless Joanne and family. OK to print

I absolutely adored Paul Newman. Not only was he one of my favorite celebrities, but one of my favorite people. However, in the beginning, I thought he was an arrogant and conceited person, because of his fame, popularity, money, and good looks, which is common among so many actors. Then, late one night, I saw the backstory to one of his films “The Verdict” on AMC. I was fortunate to see the real Paul Newman up-close. He was sincere, honest, humble, and down to earth. From that moment on, everything changed. I became one of his admirers. I will never forget the first time I saw “Cat On a Hot Tin Roof”. It was in the middle of the night, and I was actually panting while watching him on the screen. He was just that gorgeous! I also became an avid buyer of his Newman’s Own food products. I knew he had been ill, but when I actually heard he had passed away, it was so heartbreaking. I am honored to be among his legion of fans, and I feel so blessed that he has touched my life so much.
