'24' producer doing new show for Fox

The suits over at Fox seem rather keen on the concept of lie detection these days. First, they gave us Moment of Truth, the reality show where contestants are asked extremely sensitive questions while hooked up to a lie detector and then have the test results revealed on camera. Now, the network has given a series commitment to the new drama Lie to Me, inspired by a real-life specialist who can read people’s faces, bodies, and voices and tell whether they’re lying in a criminal investigation. The show, produced by 24 executive producer Brian Grazer and his Imagine Television production company, stars Tim Roth (pictured) as Dr. Cal Lightman, head of a private agency contracted by the FBI, local police, law firms, corporations, and private individuals to help uncover the truth. Also cast are Kelli Williams (The Practice) as Dr. Gillian Foster, a gifted psychologist and Lightman’s partner; Brendan Hines (Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles) as Lightman’s lead researcher; and Monica Raymund as the newest member of the team, selected for her ability to read body language and catch clues that her colleagues may miss. Fox plans to debut the series midseason.
