I watched both series last season, but I'm giving Greys up. It has jumped the shark.

Private Practice was a far more enjoyable watch, & doesn't have the annoying characters that Greys has (Izzie, Meredith to name two) or the OTT storylines (resuscitating a deer to name one) !!

I love the whole Private Practice cast too. They seem a very friendly & talented bunch & don't indulge in the squabbles & bitching that the Greys cast is known for. It is sad when the drama off-screen becomes more interesting than the drama on.

Keira - Addie only appeared last season to help Greys, what benefit did it bring to PP ? None, it was to knock some sense into Greys characters. And from what Shonda says - a visit in Season 5 will again be because of a Greys storyline. That is the show that has to rebound. PP doesn't need huge ratings, it can survive being a quality middle ranking show. Greys needs the advertisers. It is no longer no1 show & Shonda is feeling the heat.

Kate left Greys at the right time - it has been s**t since. Shonda wisely kept hold of her which was a good decision. Greys will be left to die for a couple more seasons, & hopefully Shonda can up her game & concentrate solely on PrP (which hasn't had the luxury of one-on-one attention that Greys had in the early days). Certainly the promos looks very encouraging this season. Addie dating should be entertaining, & I love how the show balances the comedy/drama better.

Addie's appeared on Greys last season to help Greys. It did not benefit her own show. It got good reviews for Greys which has been slated since Season 3. Shonda knows the power of Addie.

PrP doesn't need Greys ratings, it is Greys that needs to keep its advertisers. I disagree bostonbean. I found Mer/Der the most contrived relationship on primetime TV, but then they cater for the teenage audience that Greys attracts.

By contrast Addie/Pete are starting with a friendship. There is none of the musical beds on PrP. The characters on PrP are adults & behave like them.

Anyone who dismisses Addie as a whiny character obviously hasn't watched beyond the first few episodes, when she was adjusting to a new life - as would be expected. I know character development is a new concept to anyone who follows Greys, but it does happen lol.
