Attention Twilighters! Your wait for the first Twilight movie is now just a little more than three months. Summit Entertainment announced today that directior Catherine Hardwicke’s adaptation of Stephenie Meyer’s best-selling book will be released on Nov., 21, three weeks earlier than was initially planned. The studio is taking advantage of Warner Bros.’ decision yesterday to postpone its upcoming Harry Potter movie to next summer. If this move doesn’t cement Twilight as the next Harry Potter, nothing will.

I hate this franchise! i wanted my harry potter on this date. very low move summit…very low indeed…
Awesome!! If I can’t see HBP on Nov 21st, the next best thing is Twilight!! I avidly love both series and I am glad something good will come out of the frustration (and stupidity) of WB decision.
omg im soooo excited!! twilight tops harry potter in soo many way!!! im sooo excited!!! yayyy twilight!!
I’m a fan of both series…and I’m not going to see ‘Twilight’ on the 21st. That was meant for Half Blood Prince, and not even Edward Cullen can fill that void.
…and now, let the fandom wank commence as the fanbrats get riled up. *eyeroll*
I like the Harry Potter series, but I love Twilight. So i couldnt be happier that i get to watch the movie sooner. =D
OMG.. I can’t wait for the upcoming movie.. Robert Cullen is so cute *smile*
I love both Harry Potter ‘n Twilight!!! 30%:70%
This news is bittersweet for me because I am (and will always remain) Team Switzerland when it comes to Harry Potter and Twilight. However, Half-Blood Prince was actually one of my least favorite HP books-so truth be told, I was looking foward to Twilight more anyway. I’m quite annoyed at WB right now, but at least we get to see Twilight earlier than planned:)-the only problem is that on my Twilight calander it still says December 12…
This is to pacifickay:
I’m not going to nag you to see the movie or anything, but I really just want to know the reason why. It’s not Summit’s or Twilight’s fault that WB decided to move the date of HP EIGHT FREAKING MONTHS. What movie company wouldn’t take advantage of the lack of competition? and not all of us are “fanbrats”, thank you very much. Some (dare I say most?) of us are very capable of having intelligent conversations;)
I wonder if they will have a midnight showing…I <3 them both! YAY TWILIGHT!oh and BTW, anonymous person: Summit saw an open oppurtunity and took it. If something like that happened to you, you would do the same thing…!
to whoever said this was a low move by Summit, you couldn’t be more wrong. WB moved Harry Potter, NOT Summit. Summit had absolutely nothing to do with HP being moved. And if Twilight hadn’t taken that spot, another movie would have. So if you want to say it was a low move, actually accuse the correct people, WB.
I have yet to read the twilight(just waiting for them to arrive in english to my country) series but i feel cheated non the less. i really don’t understand this move by WB.
how did summit make a low move when the article states that WB pushed teh harry potter date??? Do you know how to read?
While I’m upset Harry Potter was moved to July as I’ve been looking forward to it, I could not care less that Twilight was moved to that date. I just can’t believe it’s being pushed as the next Harry Potter. It’s no where close to HP and is nothing more than derivative schlock. The two aren’t even in the same league.
yay twilight moves up becuz of harry potter! i love both, but i already kind of know how harry potter will look like. i dont with twilight
why is everyone knockin twilight its not their fault that warner brothers pushed the release of Harry Potter…. they jumped at an awesome opportunity, who wouldn’t
i love both the series and although i’m bummed about the harry potter delay i can’t wait to see twilight!!!!
I was hoping to watch both this year. Well, something to wait for next year.
omg!!!! this is the most amazing day of my life!! i was happy when it hit the 4 month mark but now even more!!! only 3 months and 5 days remaining!!!
Cheesh – now my 12-12-08 ‘Twilight’ t-shirt is going to have the wrong date!
Glad the film is coming out sooner than later – makes sense to capitalize on ‘Twilight’ being hot and in the news right now. Whenever the Potter film comes out, I assume people will go and see it. They are very lucky that the cast all matured so attractively! Daniel Radcliffe never went through an ‘awkard age’!
Ok.. I am a HUGE FAN OF BOTH SERIES!! i’m bummed about harry potter, but WB really doesn’t need the money this year what with the dark knight and all. I am happy about twilight, but i cant help wondering if this will hurt them. What with breaking dawn getting AWFUL ratings!!!
I also think its bittersweet I was looking foward for HBP in nov. Then twilight in dec. But that is no more of corse im excited I get twilight 3 wks earlier and wait 4HBP next year!
I am looking very much forward to both movies. I was sad to hear that I had to wait extra long for Harry Potter, but happy to hear the news of Twilight. I don’t think Twilight will be released in Denmark though, which makes me feel sort of neutral right now.
i don’t care twilight now (i really angry with breaking dawn).why wb change relaesed date?
daniel radclife and tom felton very handsome, nice and good actors.
Im so glad that Twilight has moved up. I cant wait for it to come out.
P.S. I love that way Breaking Dawn is developing.
Breaking Dawn was awesome all those people who hate it should STFU ASAP.
I’m so happy that Twilight is coming out 3 weeks earlier.I was really frustrated with Harry Potter being released July 17 09, since I was looking forward to watching both HP6 and Twilight. It seemed to good to be true, but now I’m happy. It seems like it worked out for the best.I love both Harry Potter and Twilight.Oh and Breaking Dawn was freakin awesome, Stephenie can’t make everyone happy and she ended the series perfectly.
Ok… I’m tired of people calling Twilight the next Harry Potter. Let’s not forget that J.K. Rowling created 7 books that were all loved by fans and (mostly) critics alike, whereas the last book in the Twilight saga was a huge disappointment to both. Twilight is just another pretender, and I’m willing to bet that it will underperform in theaters, as well.
Deathly Hallows had the opposite problem that Breaking Dawn did. Too Many people died in Deathly Hallows, every 20 pages I’d say. It wasn’t even close to perfect, lets not kid ourselves. Many people are whining about how no one died in BD, but personally I’m glad that no one died-who can honestly say that they are glad that Fred, Lupin, Tonks, Dobby, and Hedwig are gone? Who wouldn’t rather Percy have died instead of Fred? That’s what happened in Breaking Dawn-Irina died so a beloved character like Emmett could live.
Breaking Dawn was a great book, but with the impossibly high expectations for it, people are bound to be disappointed. The comparisons between HP and Twilight annoy me too, but just because it causes all this uncalled for animosity between people that don’t love both. They feel the need to defend their favorite, but really if they just read both-they’d most likely be fans of both. It’s quite frustrating, especially to someone who loves both.
Poor Entertainment Weekly. I just finished reading my print edition, and I come on to find out you’re wrong! Twice!
i agree with marycullen…. stop comparing the two they are totally different books both good in their own way. i love both series and hate to hear people bashing twilight so much. dont read it if you dont like it.
