For those who state this movie is “average,” I don’t mean to sound rude, but it probably means you don’t get the psychological component(s) behind this movie. It is absolutely BRILLIANTLY written and you don’t have to have had advanced film theory courses to see this. It’s definitely not for the dull of mind – the intellect behind this movie is absolutely amazing and every time I see it again, I catch something new. There is so much symbolism behind this movie it is truly amazing. I hope it passes up Titanic. The reason it wouldn’t is because Titanic is a much easier movie for the general population to understand while The Dark Knight requires some intellect behind the understanding of the movie. Nolan is a genius.

seen tdk twice. first time was decent, second go around i realized that its just an average movie. people get off your hands and realize the hype for the this movie is all because of the death of heath. thats it, batman begins was a much better film!!! if it breaks titanics record it really doesnt mean its the best movie of all time. all it means is that its the highest GROSS dollar maker of all time! what does that mean in reality? absolutely nothing!!! i cannot believe people actually give a rat’s a-s about any of this.

It will make more sense but I’m sure it doesn’t to the studios that care more about the actual gross. it’s more fun counting money than tickets.
This begs the obvious question, why doesn’t the industry just keep total ticket sales statistics? Gross ticket sales are a totally pointless statistic.

Hey ADK – the record in movie sales is actually 620 bazillion gazillion, not a mere 620 billion.
Dark Knight rocks & the most awesome superhero/action/badman character movie of at least the last 20 years. Period. I’m really, really, reeeally tired of certain individuals talking about it not being a great movie just to draw attention to themselves. I do realize that opinions are like ___-holes, everybody’s got one. Myself included.

I actually look forward to Twilight coming out so that when it makes it’s $30 million in week 1, people can stop talking about Twilight like it’s the second coming of Harry Potter. The books are poorly written and the story is trite at best (and, at worst, it sets women’s lib back a good 30 years). The movie will be well made (it snagged a good director) but it doesn’t change the fact that it’s cult following is relatively small and that this will not speak to a larger audience. Please, stop trying to make Twilight happen.

Okay okay okay these people need to calm down about the Twilight beating TDK thing. I’m a huge fan of the books, not so much with the movie. You have to realize that the movie is low-budget so none of the actors aren’t “A-List stars.” I look at it this way: there are a lot of fan that are going out to see it, not enough to break records by far, and it won’t matter what the credicts say only word of mouth from teenage fan girls. It will be a hit with some but a bomber with others. Either way no way is it going to be setting records.

Wow, Kevin, I have to thank and admire you- you’re the only person who has ever responded to me with an intelligent comment and non-cussing response. If it was even directed at me, but I respect your opinion, and you put up good points. I just don’t think TDK deserves all the awards it is winning, no matter how much I as well loved it.

When I saw Titanic (on opening day, because I WAS a Cameron fan…not so much any more) my initial response was, “that wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be.” When I saw it again on video, I laughed…loudly and often. It’s a horrible movie. The “story” of it is chock full of cliches and the script is probably one of the worst of all time. The acting is bad across the board…even the wonderful Kate Winslet is awful. The Dark Knight, on the other hand, is very well written, AMAZINGLY acted, and beautifully directed. Are there problems in the movie? Yes (mainly, the length and the rambling storyline). But the flaws in Dark Knight actually endear you to the film and serve to make the film more enjoyable upon subsequent viewings as opposed to the flaws in Titanic which just make Titanic the most embarrassing Oscar winner of all time. Earn Batman, earn.

TDK is NOT better than Titanic. The movie was really good, don’t get me wrong, I loved it. However, you have to be open. There were flaws in the movies, cheesy lines, Maggie was a horrible replacement for Katie Holmes, and ticket price and inflation is pretty much influencing this movie.
I do not think this movie was better than Titanic. Titanic deserves its hold in the number 1 movie of all time, and I really hope it keeps it. So titanic was out for like a year, it STILL held its spot to #1 for like 15 weeks in a row or something like that (sorry if I got anything wrong, please correct me.) Also TDK won’t hold out as #1 for much longer, the gross income keeps dropping down. And with big releases like Tropic Thunder coming up, well…the income of TDK is just going to keep dropping.
