Satcpreview_l Get ready for more cosmos and screaming women! After months of idle talk, HBO has confirmed that a sequel to the Sex and the City movie is in the early stages of development — no surprise, considering the first spin-off from the series has earned $146 million since it debuted in theaters at the end of May. Michael Lombardo, president of HBO's programming group, told a group of reporters at the cable network's annual press tour in Los Angeles today, "We're really heartened by the fans' enthusiasm. Absolutely, there is a lot of energy behind doing another SATC movie." Lombardo wouldn't expound on his comments but a source confirmed that Warner Bros. has begun discussions on a sequel, adding that the studio is hoping to fast-track the project. However, no deal is in place and there is no script. In fact, the lead actresses involved are taking a cautious attitude towards another film, not wanting to rush a sequel and risk disappointing their loyal fans. Warner Bros. hasn't returned calls seeking comment. — Reporting by Lynette Rice

I absolutely adored this movie! i thoughtt that they did a good involvment of all characters..yes id like to see more about them ...but in reality were all curious with what turned out with carrie and big...i like seeing bigs chracter more this movie...and yes more involvment from the ladies is nice...and as for samantha...a little bit more sex...to be blunt, but thats her chracter grown up her not she still loves it...but we didnt see her do it once this movie..other than that awesome film i loved every second of it

Esther Sun, Sep 21, 2008 at 04:06 PM EST

Sina, I couldn't say it any better. We love Carrie, but they overkilled us with her character in the the movie. We want more of Samantha, Charlotte and Miranda and lets not forget Stanford, Harry, and Steve.

Kudos to you Sina, I thought I was the only one. Here's what she said:

"This time I better see Stanford with his boo Marcus, more of Charlotte and her husband and I want to see 50 year old Sammantha grow up! Who in their right mind wants to be a 50 year old slut? I would love LOVE to see Samantha hook back up with Richard. yeah I know he cheated on her but I loved them as a couple. And more Miranda less close ups of Carrie."

Esther Sun, Sep 21, 2008 at 03:59 PM EST

I would love to see another SATC movie as long as they give more depth to the other characters besides Carrie. I was disappointed in Samantha's role. They made her appear weak. I love SATC but if I was to watch the show and it was only about Carrie, I'm sorry, I would have to click on the off button. It's not a one man show, it's a team of characters that we have grown to love over the years. Why change it now? And what about poor Stanford, they forgot about him. They gave him a few lines. They should be ashamed of themselves, he was there from the beginning. One more thing. A previous comment said "they should wait a couple years and then do it as a follow up into their lives...where everyone is in 5 or more years." Does it matter it's the movies. Start the movie by saysing five years later...

I think a sequel would be a great idea but just like the first movie, they should wait a couple years and then do it as a follow up into their lives...where everyone is in 5 or more years...how charlotte is as a mother to older kids...if samantha ever settled with a man, how steve and miranda are doing, and carrie with big...baby?

I agree with GeeMoney

Enough suffering for Carrie. We want Big as a good and loving husband this time please.

cassie Thu, Aug 14, 2008 at 08:26 AM EST

I hope there is a 2nd one I love this show it makes me happy and it teaches me things about relationships and friendship it's a great movie I just wonder what they will do for the second one because the first one basically wrapped things up

Amyeo Thu, Jul 24, 2008 at 04:54 PM EST

Why the hell are people leaving comments if they think the movie is so rubbish?? thats just weird

DEBBI Tue, Jul 15, 2008 at 12:32 PM EST

I'd like to see the guy from the shoe store on long island (STEVEN DANN) that got all the press from his SATC window to be in the next movie...

amonimously you'res Sun, Jul 13, 2008 at 05:55 PM EST

I would think fans of SATC would have achieved closure when the series had it's finale and ended. I know what you mean though. Seinfeld had a final episode, but I still need closure. You all should talk to your psychiatrists about this just like I did. Talking helps.

Why would EW remove my one single little comment? I'll tell you why....yep, scared of the raw power. The power of commenting on EEEEEEEEEWWWW

lslanders Sat, Jul 12, 2008 at 01:57 PM EST

I would love to see a sequel!!!! I had a hard time with some of the sex scenes but heck that's what Sex and the City is all about.

Liz Sat, Jul 12, 2008 at 12:59 AM EST

Hollywood really needs to stop beating dead horses... the movie was GOOD not phenomenal, it gave fans exactly what they wanted: closure. A sequel would just be over the top. I recommend 'Geriatric and the City' as the title of the sequel.... just my opinon

To The Luchador Fri, Jul 11, 2008 at 10:01 PM EST

Many of so-called copies of SATC have surfaced (Lipstick Jungle, Cashmere Mafia) but havent caught on. Why? Because they do not have the heart that SATC has. Contrary to the image projected by the media, SATC is not about fashion. It definitely indugles in it, but it actually brings up a lot of interesting ideas about relationships, and the characters are well-crafted and engaging.
It's irritating when people who haven't seen it refer to it as a show about sluts in $500 shoes. The fashion is much easier to advertise and appears more glamorous than the show's actual heart.

The Luchador Fri, Jul 11, 2008 at 08:39 PM EST

When it comes down to it, this movie was made for a certain demographic. They knew 251283518123857395 women watched it every Sunday and couldn't resist shelling out the $$ for it.

That's what these adaptations are all about. You don't have to create a character, back story, setting, or even a real plot. People just want to see thier "heroes" walk around in expensive shoes for 2 hours. Give them what they want and they'll pay.

I wish I would have had the idea first.

The Luchador Fri, Jul 11, 2008 at 08:35 PM EST

Is this the one with the old chick that bangs young guys because of repressed memories of traumatic sexual encounters with people she once trusted?

Lisa Fri, Jul 11, 2008 at 07:06 PM EST

When my friends and I walked out of the theater, we all said, they could have one movie a year, that would make us happy. We got used to our Sunday nights with the girls and we miss them. The movie was excellent and we would all love to see more.

Sara Fri, Jul 11, 2008 at 06:59 PM EST

I think it could be a GREAT idea. People love these ladies and the storylines, and why not get the most we can out of it?? They deserve to be stars in their own right. Plus maybe this will help the careers of all four ladies.

If they do another movie though, PLEASE more for Stanley, Steve, and Anthony!!!

FILMDRUNK Fri, Jul 11, 2008 at 05:58 PM EST

I like turtles.

KillBill Fri, Jul 11, 2008 at 05:42 PM EST

... or that she's smart. Or happy. All we really know for sure is she bears a striking resemblance to a horse.

Watanabex Fri, Jul 11, 2008 at 05:30 PM EST

DUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUURST!!

To SJP Haters Fri, Jul 11, 2008 at 05:21 PM EST

No matter what you think , SJP is richer, smarter and happier than you will ever be. Too bad your self-esteem is so low that you can't do anything better w/ your time than hate on someone you don't even know and is really one of the good people in Hollywood. Get a life people.

B.K. Fri, Jul 11, 2008 at 04:28 PM EST

In case any of this is going over your heads (and why wouldn't it, considering you're actually fans of such a stupid movie?), Sarah Jessica Parker looks like a horse. If you really want to match her fashion, buy yourself a bridle and a saddle.

junior Fri, Jul 11, 2008 at 03:45 PM EST

What is wrong with you people, I say with love. The series had the worst ending possible and the movie was ho-hum but not great. Maybe with another one they can get to the spirit of the show, start talking about "Sex" and the "City" again.

Pauly Dangerously Fri, Jul 11, 2008 at 03:01 PM EST

Rasha, they are called foals, not babies.

Rasha Fri, Jul 11, 2008 at 01:21 PM EST

I really don't know if this is a good idea. I loved the movie, but I hope they leave well enough alone...unless in the sequeal Carrie is magically pregnant and/or adopts a baby!

looks like SJP is wearing her manure bag in front today

Jim Jenkins Fri, Jul 11, 2008 at 11:09 AM EST

Go out in STYLE! The movie was a nice Valentine to the devoted fans of the show and our four girls all ended up in a great space. I think a second film would be a let down as there's not much else you can do except have someone die, get cancer, get divorced or go gay. The film is a standalone achievement...why outlive your welcome and end the SATC in a mediocre way. After all, lest you remember the uneven quality of the TREK films, the sad debacle of CHARLIE'S ANGELS 2, and the horrendous AUSTIN POWERS 3? Stop thinking with your wallet, Hollywood--you only disappoint when you do so...

Aimless Leon Fri, Jul 11, 2008 at 11:08 AM EST

I am really excited to see another SATC movie. Of course, that's because I was a really HUGE fan of 'Equus' and it wasn't because of Daniel Radcliffe! (wink)

Donk Fri, Jul 11, 2008 at 11:02 AM EST

OMG I am sooooo excited!!!! Miss Carrie is to die for, I love these crazy gals!

The Mighty Feklhr Fri, Jul 11, 2008 at 10:55 AM EST

Qaplah! all you forshak-hut dwellers need to meet the business end of my Bat'leh!

Robin Fri, Jul 11, 2008 at 10:24 AM EST

I loved the SATC movie, but I think it ended perfectly and HBO should just let it stand - no more. Seriously, what's the point? We wanted to see Carrie & Big get hitched and we got it. End it on this high note and take a hint from the old show biz adage "Leave 'em wanting more."

Los Fri, Jul 11, 2008 at 09:40 AM EST

For God's sake, let it die!

Amanda Fri, Jul 11, 2008 at 08:49 AM EST

Yay!!! I loved the movie, and can't wait for the sequel! I agree, Big needs to be a really good husband--they NEED to let him and Carrie be happy! Can't wait to see what this fantastic team comes up with next!

GeeMoney Fri, Jul 11, 2008 at 08:42 AM EST

I would love to see another SATC film, as long as Big DOESN'T cheat, divorce or disappoint Carrie again. Enough already! Can we please make a movie where he's a good husband?

LG Fri, Jul 11, 2008 at 08:27 AM EST

leave it alone, the movie just wasn't worth the hype

Jenn Fri, Jul 11, 2008 at 08:18 AM EST

I was completely excited and slightly apprehensive about the first movie. I thought the series went out on a high note, so I was fearful that the movie would disappoint.

But I loved it and unlike some, enjoyed the way the movie ended. As much as I'd like to see the SATC gals again, I don't know if they should mess with it again.

Sam Fri, Jul 11, 2008 at 08:13 AM EST

That's it. I'm done. What else could they possibly do with this? They should just leave well enough alone.

Sina Fri, Jul 11, 2008 at 12:50 AM EST

This time I better see Stanford with his boo Marcus, more of Charlotte and Harry and I want to see 50 year old Sammantha grow up! Who in their right mind wants to be a 50 year old slut? I would love LOVE to see Samantha hook back up with Richard. yeah I know he cheated on her but I loved them as a couple. And more Miranda less close ups of Carrie.
