'Sex and the City' sequel in early development

Satcpreview_l Get ready for more cosmos and screaming women! After months of idle talk, HBO has confirmed that a sequel to the Sex and the City movie is in the early stages of development — no surprise, considering the first spin-off from the series has earned $146 million since it debuted in theaters at the end of May. Michael Lombardo, president of HBO's programming group, told a group of reporters at the cable network's annual press tour in Los Angeles today, "We're really heartened by the fans' enthusiasm. Absolutely, there is a lot of energy behind doing another SATC movie." Lombardo wouldn't expound on his comments but a source confirmed that Warner Bros. has begun discussions on a sequel, adding that the studio is hoping to fast-track the project. However, no deal is in place and there is no script. In fact, the lead actresses involved are taking a cautious attitude towards another film, not wanting to rush a sequel and risk disappointing their loyal fans. Warner Bros. hasn't returned calls seeking comment. — Reporting by Lynette Rice

I can see a variety of possibilities for where to take the story lines, but exactly how to connect them and bring them all to a final solution don't ask me yet.
a. First.. Carrie becomes pregnant and conflicted about how she perceives herself and especially Big as a parent team. Maybe she, rather than Big is the one to meander off "in the name of" seeking advice from an old flame/friend (Aidan or Berger?) but runs back to Big again.

b. Charlotte and Harry could begin to have dissagreements in how to raise their girls... Not to mention that Charlotte supposedly has parents who are never shown and maybe they come to live with Charlotte and Harry.

c. Sammantha and Smith finally do get back together, start a restaurant together and consider marriage
d. Miranda starts having flashbacks to her own childhood after Steve leaves her and takes Brady due to her rage-a holicism over every little thing and this gets resolved in the end.

love my girls miss the show alot.love to see more of them will be waiting for the sequel.

Shay Tue, Jun 23, 2009 at 07:44 PM EST

I want more of Stanford and Anthony!! I enjoyed the first movie, but I have no idea where they can go with the second.

tg Tue, Jun 23, 2009 at 07:44 PM EST

A perfect ending would be that they all get what they deserve.....an STD!

beckie Tue, Jun 23, 2009 at 07:42 PM EST

LOVE LOVE LOVE SATC!! Have the entire series and the movie on DVD...mixed feelings on a second movie though. While I'd love to see the girls again, I have to agree that the movie did give those of us who followed the series the closure we needed. Big and Carrie aren't the parental types, and they've had enough relationship drama already...there's been cheating, leaving, loving..what else is there? If I were going to continue their story, it'd be some kind of health scare that shakes their relationship. And why not have some big story lines for the supporting cast? Why can't Stanny get some more screen time and a story line that would make us all gasp the way we did when we found out that Steve cheated on Miranda? Return of Bunny MacDougal? There's a lot of possibilities, the writers have to be careful with our girls!

Nmmc Begins Pre-Monsoon work in the city.

20.04.09,

Many of the storm water drains in Vashi and Koperkhairane were cleaned by NMMC. The work has been started as a part of the pre monsoon work of NMMC.
Storm water drains in various nodes of Vashi and Koperkhairane were cleaned by the civic body. Raising concerns over the problem of water logging during monsoons, the drains were cleaned by the civic body. We spoke to the residents of these areas who expressed their happiness over the cleaning drive. While appreciating the work of NMMC, residents also appealed that the civic body should clean these drains regularly and see to it that they are not being choked up by soil and other materials being used…………..

PLease DON"T make SATC2 Itended perfectly. Let it be.

Jane Thu, Apr 30, 2009 at 08:31 AM EST

I loved the show but I thought the movie was trite and reduced all the girls to stereotypes without personalities. It was one of the worst movies I've ever seen.

tj Wed, Apr 29, 2009 at 01:00 PM EST

I am a DIE HARD FAN of Sex and the City. I have all the series on DVD and know them work for word. The Sex and the City Movie was one of the best movies Ive seen in a very long time. And if you are a die hard fan it was truly te closure you needed. I was so upset when the series ended. But the movie put to bed all the "what ifs" and "how comes" I had. THe movie was AMAZING. I would not mind seeing another SATC movie. However my concern is the story/plot. PLease please please do not ruin the completion of one of the best series ever wrote. Think first about what exactly you want the fans to get out of this movie. If its just going to be some silly plot then I would rather it not be made. More money is not worth disappointing the fans..... Well it shouldnt be!

Tammie Thu, Apr 23, 2009 at 08:30 PM EST

Chris Noth hasn't signed up yet? Who cares! The bueaty of the series is the relationships of the four main female characters. Why can't the girls have a raunchie holiday or something of the like where they are in the path of temptation. Really, having Carrie, Big and the others going through yet more relationsip dramas is just flogging a dead horse. Why do the male characters have to be there?

LD Thu, Apr 23, 2009 at 09:07 AM EST

Heard that the new series shows Samantha in loses her lunch! (so to speak) in the recession. maybe the patter of tiny feet for carrie and big!!!

cant wait to see what 2010 brings!!!

Dan. Tue, Apr 21, 2009 at 08:09 PM EST

Making Sex and the City Movie 2 Would be an amazing Idea. The first one was so amazing, it was so emotion, it was brillant. Truely the best film i've watched in a long time. Bring on the second one!

CC Wed, Apr 15, 2009 at 08:41 PM EST

Sexand the city was so cool..a sequel would b nice but it has 2 b interesting..if its boring it will ruin the whole thing..dnt make carrie have babies..and charlotte fat or something..just make it good..it has 2 b better than the first one..

Danielle Tue, Apr 14, 2009 at 06:04 AM EST

I think it is a brilliant idea making a second movie. I loved the first movie it was one of the best movies i have ever watched and i think that they will be loads of new things that could happen please prove me right.

GRIZZ Mon, Apr 13, 2009 at 06:01 PM EST

I absolutely LOVED this movie! I've always been a fan of Sex & The City since day 1, but what more can u add to the sequel? What, Carrie having babies, Samantha getting married? Seriously, they should have just left it alone after the first movie. I feel like it will be a silly movie. I don't know prove me wrong please cause I surely don't want to be disappointed! I will go see the movie, but hope they can make it as good as the first!!

Ciel Thu, Apr 9, 2009 at 03:45 PM EST

SATC Bloopers! Hilarious!

Bec Tue, Mar 31, 2009 at 11:43 PM EST

I think they should use the song DIGNITY by Hillary Duff in the second film, it woudl be perfect!!!

Shannon Tue, Mar 31, 2009 at 09:45 PM EST

I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED the series, and thought they did a wonderful job w/the movie, but where else can they go in a sequel? Carrie finally got her happily ever after, Charlotte birthed a beautiful baby girl after so many obstacles made it seem as though it would never happen, Miranda and Steve cemented their love after some bumps in their marriage... my only grievance was what was up w/Samantha's story line? I know she has always prided herself on being a free-spririted and sexually confident woman, but come on, she had a good man who loved her... supported her through chemo... that she loved back might I add... and at 50 still could not shake the impulse to bed hop? I'm all for being an independant, sexually uninhibited woman (and live that way myself)- but hey, don't we all want to settle down at some point? Anyway, I just hope they don't mistakenly milk from the first movie's success and come w/a so-so story line-sometimes it's better to quit when you're still ahead, don't ya think?

funny girl Tue, Mar 31, 2009 at 09:26 PM EST

Goodness, I don't think we need to see another movie that shows the greed that has caused this combustion of our economy. if they do a sequel, I hope all the girls were givers to Madoff and now are broke! LOL

Kate Mon, Mar 30, 2009 at 02:42 PM EST

I really hope THERE IS another SATC movie. I am a die hard fan too, and I miss seeing the girls so much. I have seen the episodes so many times and the movie multiple ones, that the sequel will just keep following their great journey into life. SATC was NOT boring, I LOVED it and it was exactly what I expected! Can't wait to see the trailer on this one!

sue Sun, Mar 29, 2009 at 06:09 PM EST

HBO please do not make a SATC part 2. I have been a fan of the series since the 1st episode aired. The first film was closure for most of the the die hard fans, it ended perfectly. Don't ruin it by making Carrie get married and have a baby. Single women love the series bcz it shows the world you don't have to be married w/kids to be happy. Plus Samantha at 50 what will be next for her? The SATC movie was ok, but remember all the filler scenes w/ Carrie's assistant and all the other boring stuff? Well I do and I HATED IT!! The rest of the characters do not have much of a story line either. Charlotte had another baby great, but what's next? Miranda is back w/Steve, so what's next? Boring story lines that is what will be next for SATC 2. I'm watching the movie as I'm typing this, and I don't want to see a 2nd one at all. So, again HBO leave it alone. Do not ruin SATC 1 which ended perfectly. Carrie got her man.

annie Sat, Mar 28, 2009 at 10:36 PM EST

Big and Carrie having a baby? Big will be on Social Security while the child is in kindergarden.

annie Sat, Mar 28, 2009 at 10:34 PM EST

the sight of SJP underarm on the big screen cannot be seen again. Give it up girls your too old to play cutzie. Miranda's kid was repulsive.

Kristi,
wow thank you so much! Im such a huge fan of the show / movie and so exited that there IS going to do another movie. Im so glad STEVEN DANN will have the shoes from sex and they! The shoes are one of the girls!!!!! Great so now I know: shoes from sex and they city can be found at STEVEN DANN orat www.stevendann.com

Jess Wed, Mar 25, 2009 at 01:59 PM EST

I love Sex and the City! Sarah Jessica rocks. I can't wait to see the girls again!

Kristi Mon, Mar 23, 2009 at 01:56 PM EST

Jenny -
No worries, I'm sure the shoes worn in the Sex and the City Movie Sequel will be at STEVEN DANN this time also. Did you see him in The Real Housewives of NYC? The store is hot and the shoes are every woman's dream. He seems to be connected well, and apparently according to Weekly he was spotted having lunch with Pat Fields (who as we all know is the costume director of the Sex and The City Movie sequel that's in early developmental) at The Waverly In, they had lots of papers with them and sat way in the back. until they left but not before stopping and chatting with J Low and Marc. I cant wait for the movie or the shoes.

Jenny Sat, Mar 7, 2009 at 05:23 PM EST

Sex and the City shoes are what we love.... Will STEVEN DANN have all the shoes from the movie again? I checked his web site www.stevendann.com and it didnt say anything yet. The shoes from SATC are always at his store though.

lilly Mon, Mar 2, 2009 at 09:31 PM EST

Just to add,
Look at the money they make from the satc tours around ny!!
$400mil from the movie, any die hard fan would watch a new series or movie with enthusiasim dispite the storeyline, i think they'd be silly not to do more with satc there is so much to work with and making $400mil off the first movie why not try a trilogy... i can garentee it would not flop as all us die hards love the twists and turns of satc.
Ps... i agree with a lot, bring back aiden even if just as a friend for carrie.
thanks guys

Lilly Mon, Mar 2, 2009 at 09:12 PM EST

Im from australia, i wish the series had never ended.
I dont know why they would end it, just because carrie was with big and miranda was married and charlotte gets a child.
I want to know what happens with carrie and big after they are married are there kids? indescretions? or another break up?
I could watch these 4 girls forever and follow them in each chapter of thier lives, just because they have what they want now is now reason to end the show, show us what happens after they have everything they dreamed of.... life doesnt stop after 6yrs sex and the city still has plenty of life left and i personally think they were stupid to end the series at only 6seasons.
They could of done at least 10 and still had every woman watching single or not.
I love sex and the city and i am still sad it finished, there has and never will be a show like it.
WE MISS SEX AND THE CITY!!!!!

aiden Tue, Feb 24, 2009 at 01:55 AM EST

Colleen Tue, Feb 24, 2009 at 01:35 AM EST

I am stoked. I LOVE Sex and The City.

Crystal Mon, Feb 23, 2009 at 04:41 PM EST

I think some people are being a bit ridiculous about thinking this movie could flop, I mean it doesn't matter when it comes out, all single women are going to go see this movie. Everyone is scared of surprises, but isnt' that what life is all about...surprises? We can't pretend we live in a perfect world and can't expect our characters to either. I feel like carrie ending up with big was the best thing that cd have happened. It shows a real life relationship that had a lot of turmoil, but in the end...they still loved eachother. It kind of opens your eyes to reality and that love can change and grow overtime. I am ready for a new movie so bring it on! I just hope that carrie stays with big. They worked too hard to get to where they are.

THERE CAN NEVER, NEVER BE ENOUGH SATC!!!!!!!!!!!! KEEP EM COMING!!!!!!! BEST SERIES IN TV HISTORY IN MY EYES AND IS MISSED SO MUCH! FELT LIKE I LOST MY 4 BEST FRIENDS WHEN THE SHOW ENDED....

crissy Fri, Feb 13, 2009 at 05:04 PM EST

I am a huge Sex & The City fan! I loved every epidsode of the show and can watch them over and over again. I also loved, loved, loved the movie. The characters are great and, while more glamorous than my real life, they are very real. 4 smart, successful, funny, ambitious, real women with reationship problems, kids, and real life issues. Every situation is something that atleast 1 woman in America can relate to. I love how they keep it so real and believable. I was so happy to see the happy ending of the movie and will be interested in seeing how they will make a sequal. I look forward to it and hope they do the show justice. It would be nice to see carrie have a baby, or to see how samantha moves on after smith, how charlote adjusts to having the baby she always wanted. There is still a lot that can be done and worked with to make a sequal. I just really hope they do not make Mr. Big and Carrie split up AGAIN!!! Then it would become more like a soap opra then a respectable show.

Michaela Coffey Fri, Feb 6, 2009 at 04:43 PM EST

I am soo excited. I am a huge sex in the city fan!!! The last movie was amazing. I cant wait to see the trailer for it. I think its really nice to finally see each of the girls in new lights under different conditions.

Brittany Wed, Jan 28, 2009 at 10:13 PM EST

I can't wait I just hope they don't make carrie pregnant!

shelly Wed, Jan 28, 2009 at 04:13 PM EST

i would love love love another movie . Been watching the show since day one, love to continue the story

Monica Tue, Jan 27, 2009 at 02:38 PM EST

I loved the show, liked the movie. I would love to see how they met and how they are all doing including bringing back some old boyfriends and husbands to the pic.

Cheridan Fri, Jan 23, 2009 at 10:15 PM EST

I would absolutely love to see a Sex and the City sequel. To this day, I cannot get enough of the first. It took watching it more than ten times before I was truly happy that Big and Carrie married after he had let her down yet again.. I guess its true what they say, "time heals all wounds", because now every time I see Big propose, and slip on that gorgeous Manolo Blahnik pump to close the deal the tears just begin to pour every single time! I would love to see what happens next with these four amazing girls with their incredibly strong and unconditional friendship. I'm choosing to believe that the writers and cast will not let down their fans and will leave us with something truly amazing.

June Fri, Jan 23, 2009 at 09:06 AM EST

I heard about Sex and the City The Movie 2... PLEASE NO second movie. I love the first one. I love the show and every season and the movie was the BIG finish. We laughed and we cried but another part would take it all the magic! This movie was perfect and it can`t be better so it just will get worse!
SATC is on the very top and we should keep it there...
So please no second movie! However, girls you are amazing! I enjoyed every second watching you...

jacqueline Fri, Jan 23, 2009 at 12:53 AM EST

PLEASE MAKE A SECOND! Just heard on a night show. I love you ladies. You make me smile and cry. You guys are great actresses! I am a women's studies grad student and I use a few of your episodes for my course. Please continue to enlight and amaze us with your skilled acting and writters! I appreciate your talents. I would love to see another compelling and real film. please consider a second and ...a third. Miranda YOU RULE!! Make her character far more similar to her character in the HBO seasonal shows, she's spectacular! Thank you, all of you, for exposing female sexuality, love, and friendship...in the way it truly deserves to be seen...most of the time. None the less...the drama adds to the excitement. Hope this message wasn't too long. Good luck and I wish you guys the best! Hope you make the right decision.

Me Thu, Jan 22, 2009 at 10:48 PM EST

I am probably the biggest fan of the show!!!!
A second movie would be the best because the first idk. I liked it but it wasn't the bang I was waiting for all these years.
Carrie and Big married is so cliché. Boring if you ask me. Charlotte giving birth nice but come on. The best and most believable was samantha leaving smith and Miranda having trouble with Steve.

The second movie should really include these thing: (sorry people) Carrie and Big calling it quits because it just didn't work out but she then hits it off with Burger (he changed), Charlotte is going back to work in the art industry, Samantha sleeps around a bit but then settles down with Richard, and Miranda is turning in to a lesbian (a little bit close to home, but WB can make it work), of course we have to keep Luise in the movie she can be the *twang* that the show always needed

Something in that nature would really give the ohh so beloved *SEX AND THE CITY* a nice finish!!!!

Jenny Thu, Jan 22, 2009 at 01:52 PM EST

I agree with the comments by Davis, almost completely really. SATC was a great movie, although a bit choppy and unbelievable with the plot line, I thought it was good. Would have liked Carrie and Big NOT to have married but to have remained happy and unmarried. I think that would have added more to possibilities with the storylines, too. I missed Stanford Blatch and heard that some of his best scenes were cut. Think it would be cute to have him doing more in Carrie's life now, rather than as much with Charlotte's wedding planner guy. I thought the Smith Jerod and Samantha situation was one of the most believable, along with Miranda and Steve having problems, but I hope that we can see Charlotte finding her way again with the art career she loved so much. I don't want to see as many huge cameos with different individuals, though. Aidan cameo would be interesting, since Big seems so "old" for Carrie in the movie. We know he married, though, so he wouldn't be believable single.

isabelle Thu, Jan 22, 2009 at 01:28 AM EST

Hey Megan sorry to say but you just answered your own question. DD2 and G2 both sucked so why risk sucking at the next SATC? Anyways, I love the way they ended the first one I think it was awesome! If they want to do another they should wait a while so it doesnt tank at the boxoffice.

Megan Tue, Jan 20, 2009 at 02:41 AM EST

I left a comment earlier and forgot to say a couple of things. 1 if they decide to do a sequal I think the writers are talented enough and know enough about what they are doing to come up with a good story line, trust them people! 2. I would be against the movie if they had to substitute some of our beloved characters for new ones, we want the same people! I dont wanna see jennifer anniston playing carrie or something, sorry. I would like to see Samantha end up with Donte. I think they are perfect for each other! and also if there was a grease 2, and a dirty dancing 2 (which both sucked), why not take a chance on a SATC 2??

Megan Tue, Jan 20, 2009 at 02:21 AM EST

I loved this movie I could watch it again and again. My friends and I have heard talks about a second movie or even a trilogy! I will be the first in line to buy tickets along with all of my girl friends. I would love to see the girls go through the many issues of having family's and jobs and marraiges. It will be amazing im sure, but please for my hearts sake, let Carrie and Big stay together, I love Big

The series was so good I still watch the reruns and the movie was just as intoxicating. To continue the legacy there should be another series to follow the ups, downs and fabulous fashion of these four women we all relate and live through. Now that 3 women have families there are to many experiences to be had, to just be absorbed at once with a sequel. I know many of us could watch them to old age still in manolo's, sipping cosmo's and sharing the experiences with the men in their lives.

i cant wait i luv the series and the movie. defo make a sequel

Davis Sun, Dec 21, 2008 at 11:33 PM EST

I would also like to see a sequel. But I don't think Carrie and Big should end up together. These commitment-phobic guys really do never change. It would be more interesting if they broke up (because he was fooling around or something), got divorced, and she ran into Aidan or Berger and started something up with them again. I'd like to see past characters make cameos in the next movie: the Trey character running into Charlotte, the hot translator guy that Miranda dated before Steve, and Richard with Samantha (maybe with Smith flying to NYC to get her back); Berger and Aidan definitely making appearances; hell, bring back the Russian guy for a few scenes, or maybe have him hook up with the Vogue editor! And definitely keep Jennifer Hudson around. She's not a great actress, but she's gorgeous and she adds another dimension to the women's issues stuff.
I also would want a little more from Stanford and the wedding planner guy. It was a surprise to see them together and a nice twist.

They will always be able to come back around and impress the fans! It will not hurt them one bit! the show has always had an ongoing theme about it, you can never get enough, despite the story line. Every episode had style and was a classic, not just season 1 like most other sitcoms, etc. The show is a masterpiece, nothing could disappoint the viewers, it's just not possible.

I love love love loveee Sex & the City. I own every season and basically have them memorized along with the movie. I think a second movie would ruin it. The first movie was the perfect ending, there's nothing else to happen to the characters. The most i could see is Carrie and Big would break up, and I'm almost positive no SATC fan would want that and anthing else would also be negative, why would we want to do that to the girls?

Jennifer Mon, Dec 15, 2008 at 03:29 PM EST

Absofuc*inglutely!! I wish HBO would bring the show back on. There's a lot you could do with the girls. Samantha grows up and settles down (Richard Wright does too - they'd be great together if both could stop slutting around) Carrie and Big decide on children, Charlotte goes back into the working world, and Miranda and Steve keep working it out together. I'd watch the show as long as they'd make them.

I don't know, it is a bit tricky. What is worth more? Fans that might for a long time say "I whish there'd been a second movie" or fans that will say, after having seen the second movie, "I wish there hadn't been a second movie. The first one gave a good enough end to the series." I guess it's better to stop when everybody is still enthusiastic. I mean, what is there left to happen?
Carrie is happily married and it would be nice if it stayed that way.
Charlotte has everything she's ever wanted - why change her situation?
Miranda is finally, definitely settled with Steve (and Brady).
Samantha is single - which is what she was most of the time in the series.
I guess anything that would happen in the second movie, would change the friends' lifes in a negative way.
So - and trust me: I am a BIG BIG BIG fan of the series, with emphasis on BIG ;) - I guess it is best to leave it to one movie. After all, it was some movie - right?

sammy Mon, Nov 24, 2008 at 09:28 AM EST

oh my god i cant believe there will be a sequel to satc. WOW. so exciting. i would love to see more of the girls especially carrie and mr big. he is hot.

Melinda Sun, Nov 23, 2008 at 02:43 PM EST

I as much as I and my friends loved the SATC movie, we all are in agreement that it put a wonderful close to the series. What could possibly happen next? Carrie and Big are married, Samantha certainly will not get married, Miranda and Steve are back together, and Charlotte gave birth. That pretty much sums it up. What else could be thought of, Carrie with a child?? But, even that doesn't seem like Carrie to me. If you ask me it ended with a big bang, don't ruin that.

I think a sequel to the movie is an awesome idea. I just hope it will be really good. The first movie was a perfect way to end the show and if they decide to actually go through with the sequel they have must have another really good idea end the whole show and maybe its best if this is the last one.

jo Mon, Nov 17, 2008 at 08:59 PM EST

I believe the series ended well but the movie put more of an ending to the show. If they were to continue with a sequel I believe the writers for this is talented enough to create yet another good movie. If not they have a lot of people dying to see it to where they'll make a lot off of it anyway.

Libra Mon, Nov 17, 2008 at 06:47 AM EST

I can't wait for a sequil to the first movie. I would like to see some more funny momments like when charolet podipseed in her pants. I could see her steping in her dogs poo that would give some great laughs. I don't like richard much i could see samantha end up with smith and live happily ever after they get married and live in new york with the rest of the gang. and who says you have to be having sex to live in the city theres plenty of stuff in that city for every age. bring on a sequel i wall watch it over and over just like ther series and the first movie. you go girls we cant live without you all four of you and or satc men too

Fishh Sat, Nov 15, 2008 at 11:07 PM EST

Well, i frist i have to say is that i love sex and the city its always been my favortie show, and i still watch it till this day! Anyways the movie was great, but why was it so depressing? made me cry, but the end of the movie turned out great! EVEN THOUGH sam, didnt end up with smith, which she should have. But my main concern will be the hell will the 2nd one be about?! Middle aged women Married in the city, well that cant work out to well, Iam just curoius what it will be like and how all the ladies lives turned out to me. Of course i will go see the 2nd one, shoot ill be the frist in line, Just hope its not dissapointing because i will be very upset. Your doing a Great Job girls! Lets start this sequal ! :)

I loved the movie and watch the shows over and over. But come on some movies dont need sequals. Its done what will part two be about? middle aged married women with kids not having sex in the city. Boring! They can call it Married with Children wait hasnt that already been done? Lol. However, I would like to see Sam with Richard not married but back with him traveling etc.

mary Fri, Nov 7, 2008 at 04:22 AM EST

I say no, its stupid
the movie was the last "episode"
its over deal with it
if the make a second part it will kill the whole idea of sex and the city
I would not see part 2

Angel Fri, Nov 7, 2008 at 12:27 AM EST

I'd love to see them bring Aiden back... also.. Skipper... memba' him?
