After more than a decade with Sony Music, Brit-pop phenoms Oasis have found a new home, at Burbank’s Warner Bros. Records. Today, Warner Bros. will announce a North American distribution deal with Big Brother Recordings, the Noel and Liam Gallagher-owned label, and the Oct. 7 release date of Dig Out Your Soul, the band’s seventh studio album. The first single, “The Shock of Lightning,” written by Noel, will hit radio in mid-August.
Earlier this summer, word had spread around Los Angeles that the Gallagher brothers were in town mixing the album, which was recorded at Abbey Road studios in London. The guys, seen at various psych-rock shows around town, were said to have almost 40 songs completed. Since then, that number has been truncated, but the record still features songwriting contributions by all four band members. Says Diarmuid Quinn, Warner Bros. Records COO, “The new music kicks ass!”

Great can’t wait to be disappointed again.
It’s like we’re in a dry, barren desert of music, and the Gallagher brothers are a distant pool of melodious water beckoning our thirsty, aching bodies. But when we get there, we discover that the camels have been using this luscious paradise as a commode.
Forget all the Oasis haters. They don’t know anything about the music that Oasis puts out as it’s some of the best. Their B-sides are just as good.
Can’t wait for the new album. It’s about time the Gallaghers show the world how it’s done.
Live Forever!
Regardless of whether their music is good or not, Liam Gallagher has repeatedly spoken negatively of Americans. If he doesn’t like me because I’m an American, why would I support his band? There’s nothing worse than a musician who doesn’t realize that his fame, money, and popularity are the result of the existence of fans.
So funny how americans overlook one of the greatest bands of all time b/c of awful sterotyping done by american press. this band plays to 100,000+ on every other piece of land in the world and the americans just dont get it.
sad really.
Great news on the record, but Rolling Stone beat you to it, by about 3 weeks or so.
It’s not that Americans “don’t get it,” it’s just that, on the whole, we’re not really interested in the whiny ramblings and sordid family squabbles of the Gallagher brothers. While watching recent documentaries on the Who (a British band that DESERVES its reputation as one of the greatest rock and roll bands), I found myself wondering why they kept going to a Gallagher brother as if his opinion mattered.
It’s possible to like a band’s music regardless of what you think of their personal behavior or feelings.
Awesome News Hope they play the new stuff on the radio instead of the same five foo fighters and chilli pepper songs!!
Blur will forever own Oasis and their whiny, boring music.
that Jay gut is a Duesh Bag! Blur is gay! OASIS rules!!!!
Wojo, Brett, Jay: eat a fat one.
I can’t wait for the new Oasis cd! They are one of the best bands of of our time!
wow brett, how ignorant are you? you just posted exactly what i said. you are getting that fight brother nonsense from sterotyped press articles.. they had one fight 10 years ago, the press needs to GET OVER IT. and newsflash, oasis are bigger in the UK then the who were, they are rock royality in the UK. again YOU DON’T GET IT. made my point so perfect.
I’m an American, and its just plain sad how nobody cares about oasis in this country. They should be massive! They have fantastic songs. Cannot wait for this album!!
oasis? who gives a hoot. one of the greatest and best selling bands of all time is releasing an album later this year and not a peep from anyone in the mainstream media. Long live AC/DC for keeping it real.
yes angelo, props to ac/dc for keeping it real with their upcoming wal-mart only album.
Oasis would get more love from America if Liam and Noel would just STFU and let their music do the talking. They diss everyone and anyone that comes along. And one wonders why no one gives a hoot about them?
to the individual who does not have the guts to put their name, i suppose a marketing strategy is a no-no in this age of illegal file-sharing. the point is that no one cares about oasis and the media keeps harping on these bands that were one “great” – great my a$$
1.) It is about the music, you either like it or you don’t. Period! I happen to love it! 2.) It’s not about what the UK/US media says…you are not very bright if you don’t think the media in this world has not caused a countless number of problems…example, the death of Princess Diana. Try to tell me differently! So do yourself a favor…like the music you like and don’t bash what others like and you just might have a happy life. I like Oasis, Coldplay, Blur, Radiohead, etc. My favorite music is Brit Rock…always will be. So, please don’t ruin things for the rest of us because you can’t get over the fact that the Gallagher Bros. have an attitude…they are musicians!!! Duh! Get over it! BTW I’m American.
