Wanted: Clever NBC show to follow Super Bowl

Categories: TV Biz

Now that the much-anticipated Office spin-off is on the back-burner while writer Greg Daniels develops a comedy for Amy Poehler, NBC has to find a show to follow the Super Bowl on Feb 1. A new episode of The Office seems like the most obvious choice, but far more enlightening alternatives may exist elsewhere. To wit: The cast of 30 Rock had previously considered whether to pitch a live telecast after it successfully performed an episode at New York’s Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre last winter. Says a network source, “It’s still unclear at this point, but we’re gonna put the best asset we can in that slot.” So don’t hold your breath, Lipstick Jungle fans.

Please let it be 30 Rock! This show deserves a huge audience and showing it after the Super Bowl could introduce the show to more fans! And to make it live would be awesome! I would start the pool on who would be the first to drop character. My guess…Alec Baldwin.

I would definitely watch a live “30 Rock.” That would be great!

How about Friday Night Lights? It would be the perfect fit and would give them the audience and promotion is deserves.

I’ll second that Friday Night Lights nomination….

mmmm…I like both 30 Rock and FNL, but feel like I think it would be nice to get a 30 min show in there – the hour is just too long at that time of night.

I thought they were going to show an new Office episode right after the Super Bowl anyway and then right after that would have been the spinoff. Either way I’m pretty sure it’s supposed to be an hour episode of The Office after the superbowl. At least that’s what I learned from OfficeTally.
