Get ready for more cosmos and screaming women! After months of idle talk, HBO has confirmed that a sequel to the Sex and the City movie is in the early stages of development — no surprise, considering the first spin-off from the series has earned $146 million since it debuted in theaters at the end of May. Michael Lombardo, president of HBO’s programming group, told a group of reporters at the cable network’s annual press tour in Los Angeles today, “We’re really heartened by the fans’ enthusiasm. Absolutely, there is a lot of energy behind doing another SATC movie.” Lombardo wouldn’t expound on his comments but a source confirmed that Warner Bros. has begun discussions on a sequel, adding that the studio is hoping to fast-track the project. However, no deal is in place and there is no script. In fact, the lead actresses involved are taking a cautious attitude towards another film, not wanting to rush a sequel and risk disappointing their loyal fans. Warner Bros. hasn’t returned calls seeking comment. — Reporting by Lynette Rice

This time I better see Stanford with his boo Marcus, more of Charlotte and her husband and I want to see 50 year old Sammantha grow up! Who in their right mind wants to be a 50 year old slut? I would love LOVE to see Samantha hook back up with Richard. yeah I know he cheated on her but I loved them as a couple. And more Miranda less close ups of Carrie.

That’s it. I’m done. What else could they possibly do with this? They should just leave well enough alone.

I was completely excited and slightly apprehensive about the first movie. I thought the series went out on a high note, so I was fearful that the movie would disappoint.
But I loved it and unlike some, enjoyed the way the movie ended. As much as I’d like to see the SATC gals again, I don’t know if they should mess with it again.

leave it alone, the movie just wasn’t worth the hype

I would love to see another SATC film, as long as Big DOESN’T cheat, divorce or disappoint Carrie again. Enough already! Can we please make a movie where he’s a good husband?

  • Amanda

Yay!!! I loved the movie, and can’t wait for the sequel! I agree, Big needs to be a really good husband–they NEED to let him and Carrie be happy! Can’t wait to see what this fantastic team comes up with next!

I loved the movie too!! I’d like to good things with Big and Carrie, like a baby! And I would like to see Samantha with Richard, they were great together. And I wouldn’t have been so forgiving like Miranda with Steve, but maybe things will be great with them. I really like Charlotte and Harry and their famiy. I love the show, and I cannot wait for another movie!!!

For God’s sake, let it die!

I loved the SATC movie, but I think it ended perfectly and HBO should just let it stand – no more. Seriously, what’s the point? We wanted to see Carrie & Big get hitched and we got it. End it on this high note and take a hint from the old show biz adage “Leave ‘em wanting more.”

Qaplah! all you forshak-hut dwellers need to meet the business end of my Bat’leh!

  • Donk

OMG I am sooooo excited!!!! Miss Carrie is to die for, I love these crazy gals!

  • Aimless Leon

I am really excited to see another SATC movie. Of course, that’s because I was a really HUGE fan of ‘Equus’ and it wasn’t because of Daniel Radcliffe! (wink)

Go out in STYLE! The movie was a nice Valentine to the devoted fans of the show and our four girls all ended up in a great space. I think a second film would be a let down as there’s not much else you can do except have someone die, get cancer, get divorced or go gay. The film is a standalone achievement…why outlive your welcome and end the SATC in a mediocre way. After all, lest you remember the uneven quality of the TREK films, the sad debacle of CHARLIE’S ANGELS 2, and the horrendous AUSTIN POWERS 3? Stop thinking with your wallet, Hollywood–you only disappoint when you do so…

looks like SJP is wearing her manure bag in front today

    this is where you’re hiding.

    Knock Knock “Housekeeping”
    Knock Knock “Housekeeping”
    Knock Knock “Housekeeping”

  • Rasha

I really don’t know if this is a good idea. I loved the movie, but I hope they leave well enough alone…unless in the sequeal Carrie is magically pregnant and/or adopts a baby!

  • Pauly Dangerously

Rasha, they are called foals, not babies.

What is wrong with you people, I say with love. The series had the worst ending possible and the movie was ho-hum but not great. Maybe with another one they can get to the spirit of the show, start talking about “Sex” and the “City” again.

In case any of this is going over your heads (and why wouldn’t it, considering you’re actually fans of such a stupid movie?), Sarah Jessica Parker looks like a horse. If you really want to match her fashion, buy yourself a bridle and a saddle.

  • To SJP Haters

No matter what you think , SJP is richer, smarter and happier than you will ever be. Too bad your self-esteem is so low that you can’t do anything better w/ your time than hate on someone you don’t even know and is really one of the good people in Hollywood. Get a life people.

  • Watanabex

    DUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUURST!!

  • KillBill

… or that she’s smart. Or happy. All we really know for sure is she bears a striking resemblance to a horse.

  • FILMDRUNK

    I like turtles.

  • Sara

I think it could be a GREAT idea. People love these ladies and the storylines, and why not get the most we can out of it?? They deserve to be stars in their own right. Plus maybe this will help the careers of all four ladies.
If they do another movie though, PLEASE more for Stanley, Steve, and Anthony!!!

  • Lisa

When my friends and I walked out of the theater, we all said, they could have one movie a year, that would make us happy. We got used to our Sunday nights with the girls and we miss them. The movie was excellent and we would all love to see more.

  • The Luchador

Is this the one with the old chick that bangs young guys because of repressed memories of traumatic sexual encounters with people she once trusted?

  • The Luchador

When it comes down to it, this movie was made for a certain demographic. They knew 251283518123857395 women watched it every Sunday and couldn’t resist shelling out the $$ for it.
That’s what these adaptations are all about. You don’t have to create a character, back story, setting, or even a real plot. People just want to see thier “heroes” walk around in expensive shoes for 2 hours. Give them what they want and they’ll pay.
I wish I would have had the idea first.

  • To The Luchador

Many of so-called copies of SATC have surfaced (Lipstick Jungle, Cashmere Mafia) but havent caught on. Why? Because they do not have the heart that SATC has. Contrary to the image projected by the media, SATC is not about fashion. It definitely indugles in it, but it actually brings up a lot of interesting ideas about relationships, and the characters are well-crafted and engaging.
It’s irritating when people who haven’t seen it refer to it as a show about sluts in $500 shoes. The fashion is much easier to advertise and appears more glamorous than the show’s actual heart.

  • Liz

Hollywood really needs to stop beating dead horses… the movie was GOOD not phenomenal, it gave fans exactly what they wanted: closure. A sequel would just be over the top. I recommend ‘Geriatric and the City’ as the title of the sequel…. just my opinon
