It doesn’t appear likely the Screen Actors Guild will make a deal
with producers before tomorrow’s deadline, but the union seems determined to
demonstrate that it hasn’t given up at the bargaining table. In a
statement released today, SAG President Alan Rosenberg reassured
Hollywood that the union has yet to call for a strike authorization from its
120,000 members and that any talk of a “strike or management lockout at
this point is simply a distraction.” Said Rosenberg, “The Screen Actors
Guild national negotiating committee is coming to the bargaining table
every day in good faith to negotiate a fair contract for actors.”

I certainly hope that a deal will be made and that strike will be averted. I didn’t suffer from watching less television during the writers strike – au contraire – and my viewing habits have changed radically since. Another strike could have similar affect…
Another strike would infuriate me to no end. I recognize that the A list pay cheques the the big stars get do not equal out what a lot of actors get and that there are some dirt poor actors however let’s be realistic…another strike would place a massive blow on a town that is still recovering and while it would not spell certain doom for the industry the consumer was exhausted by the WGA Strike and I gurantee you people will suddenly start to love their cottages and books a hell of a lot more if another strike were to go down.

Not happy about a strike with people that make a ridiculous amount of money for what they do. I’m thinking about canceling cable t.v. and boycotting movies.
It’s not the richest actors who are affected by this. It’s the middle class actors who need financial help. A listers negotiate their own contracts, irrespective of union mandates.
