As far as 'The Closer' cable program starring Kyra Sedgwick is concerned, I also agree that it is an excellent multi-ethnic ensemble cast that is quite visible benefitted by a very creative writing team. The acting talent is excellent! I love that show & quirky Brenda!:-)

1 more thing, posters who stated that roles vacated by minorities should be filled with like-minorities make valid points. But most importantly, please understand that there are actors of every race/ethnicity who are hungry for roles on high-profile shows like the 2 CSI shows we've discussed. And whether the positions for Khandi or Gary's slots are indeed cast with Blacks/African Americans, it goes without saying that they will be capable actors. The producers won't be seeking some Black/AA who is randomly strolling down the street. They will be casting for capable actors - undoubtedly with a following.

I think that Khandi Alexander's leaving at the same time that Gary Dourdan is forced out due to personal 'demons' as Anton stated effectively, is coincidental, not racially motivated. Creative differences? Sounds as though she wasn't pleased with the scripts & wanted more 'meat' in her role other than with mutiliated corpses!

As for Gary, his contract was up & the CSI producers appear (so far) to have said NO to his returning. I still believe that options exist due to the viewers not seeing Warrick actually die at the season's finale, that he may emerge injured but alive. I still canNOT rest with that lame season-ender for an 8 year long popular cast member. Warrick got shot!? What a contrived finish, lacking the brilliant CSI writing magic to the point where my jaw dropped!

I thought, Bruckheimer & co. must be PISSED at Gary for behavior stemming from his perceived problems or the publicizing of such serious matters by getting arrested, to the point where they said 'kill him!'

How in the heck did this turn into a racial issue? Don't you know, blacks are usually the FIRST to get knocked off in movies and television? Networks and studios who have issues with (US) don't hire us and then keep us around for 8 years. Wait, my favorite is the poster who thinks they should just stick a black person in Dourdan's roll. Question, would just ANY black person do or would it matter at all if he had any acting skills what-so-ever? Wow - talk about an insult to Gary Dourdan as an actor (whether he's black, white or purple), casting directors and CBS execs alike. There are PLENTY of racial issues to tackle out there without creating non-existing ones, not to mention when valid ones do arise the fact that you've cried wolf on multiple occasions just discredits your claim.

First, let me say that I did not like that pseudo-Soparano's like ending which clipped Gary Dourdan from the show. However, I think that phrases such as "mutually agreed to leave" is code for "you're more trouble than your worth--adieus". Gary is a grown man with some grown-up ass demons, and sometimes those demons get your ass fired. I like Gary, not as much as Gary likes Gary, but I think he's down. The folks at CSI can make the show as lilly, Elmers glue, puffy cloud white as they want to. Those of us who don't like it can either 1. develop our own shows. 2. Take ours hours of viewing time over to "The Closer" and extol the multi-ethnic cast., or 3. Write CBS and say get someone Gary-like back on the show, and prove us wrong in our thinking that the shows casting dept is hiring out of their mirrors.

Gary Dourdan did not 'ask' to leave, his contract was terminated with a mutual agreement. Which is a very polite way of saying CSI had no interest in keeping him and did not offer him an extension.

There's a BIG difference between Jorja's leaving (which was her choice, and they tried to keep her), Khandi's (she wanted to leave, they said okay) and Gary's (they opted not to renew a contract).

Gary wasn't fired, but he sure didn't quit either.

In general, the number of minority parts on television are SHRINKING instead of increasing. It's a shame there are still shows out there with no minority characters. Please...all af you people complaining about the 'whiteness' of the shows should do some research. Dourdan and Alexander WANTED to leave the shows. They were not forced out, they asked to be let out of their contracts and the producers let them. This was THIER choice, not some percieved racism you all want to try and find.

Also, as far as Fox goes, good riddance. She was uninteresting during her entire run on the show. Besides, if you look at her history this is par for the course. She asked out of her contract at ER because of screen time, she asked out her contract with The West Wings because she wanted more screen time. It is in her blood to bail from the shows that made her famous.

It's really become creepy how WHITE CSI has become. The only time we're ever going to see a minority on this show is if their dead on a slab or convicted for a crime. Typical. And by the way, I don't care if they got Meryl Streep guest starring on this show, without Sara Sidle, I can barely keep a passing interest in this show. Now, if they were to get Samuel L Jackson on the show...(HOT)

When CSI first came on, my friends and I were very excited because the show featured two of our favorite men. Gary Dourdan is someone we had watched in other things when he still had dreads. We waited in vain for someone in management to realize he just oozes sex appeal. Here in Chicago, we all know William Peterson as someone with one of the best buts and greatest legs of a white guy ever. So they dress him in long smocks and baggy jumpsuits and ignore his sex appeal. I don't want to even get into the Jorja Fox area because that was just creapy. This show takes plase in VEGAS, one of the sexiest towns on the planet and no one seems to be having any fun. Everyone is depressed. This show is never boring but it is not fun.

Honestly, without Sarah or Warrick, I doubt I'll be watching. And this character looks extremely bland and boring. I've seen a million look like her and sound like her. There's nothing original there; you'd think CSI could do better.

I have watched every episode of CSI at least once. Warrick Brown is my favorite CSI. He has brought a "real life" person to this show. I will truly miss his character.

I'm not really a huge CSI fan or anything but I also didn't really like how the Warrick character was portrayed. The lone minority character on the show happens to suffer from basically every moral vice you can think of. But aside from that his backstory was just so typical. Why does every minority character come from the socially accepted, stereotypical background? What, he's black so he grew up in the ghetto, give me a break. I mean I just find it humourous with these shows that even the intelligent and successful minorities always come from the "ghetto" or the "hood" like no minorities can come from typical suburban backgrounds.

I found it hard that Warrick leaves CSI and Alex leaves CSI MIami. I like to see diversity of culture as well as acting styles on these shows. Makes it interesting. The character Warrick never was handled well. He never got to grow up. When he got married, there was great opportunity for him...Catherine was floored. Most of us thought she had the hots for Warrick. I was wondering if Hawkes was on his way out on CSI NY since he is the african american on that show. Bring Alex back to one of the CSI shows, she gave the show heart in how she handled the dead. There are some great black actors out there who can bring depth to the show along with diversity. Lure a movie star like some of the shows on FOX have. Only CSI NY is ripping it from the headlines and hosting an inclusive cast. CSI set the standard. A&E is doing a better job with the real headlines. Bring it back to the story and the evidence guys. Stop trying to compete with the McDreamy show...your show is better!

So sad to see Warrick leave. But it was expected. Plus his personal life is in the trash. This show has become a bunch of bland co-workers. Vegas is hotter than this show makes it. Get Crime novelist Patricia Cornwell to write some of the scripts. They need to bring Alex who left CSI Miami to this CSI show and make her a regular CSI (back story...she can be a relative of Warrick's who wants to figure out what happened and she stays on) We need some life in this show.

So, the only African American in the entire cast gets killed off. Typical of CBS to find a way to do the most racist thing possible to a non-white character on one of their shows.Why have only member of a minority group on the show in the first place? What does it prove? That you're being inclusive? Give me a break! Be brave enough to say that's not the direction the show will be going in, instead of including minorities only to bash them in some way--like Dourdan's character was handled throughout his time on the show. Pitiful. Why is that C.S.I. New York is the only C.S.I. program that gets it right, most of the time? I've loved this show since its inception but I have to take my leave of it. Gary Dourdan may have been a handful off camera but his character deserved better. It's a sad state of affairs when our society believes that bashing minority groups is still the preferred way to do anything. Very sad.
