Arrested Development fans may want to keep an eye on the Beverly Hills, 90210 spinoff in the works at CW. Jessica Walter, who played the nutty, booze-soaked Lucille Bluth on the Emmy-winning Fox comedy, will play Tabitha, the grandmother, in the highly-anticipated drama from executive producer Rob Thomas. The spinoff is expected to revolve around the Mills family of Beverly Hills whose matriarch, Tabitha, is a 60-something has-been actress and alcoholic. Tabitha’s adult son, Harry, moves back to Beverly Hills to care for his mother. Joining him are his wife Celia (Lori Laughlin, Summerland), an Olympic athlete-turned-personal trainer, and their two 16-year-old children, Annie (Degrassi: The Next Generation’s Shenae Grimes) and Dixon (who has yet to be cast).

When i heard they were doing a new 90210 series, my feelings landed somewhere between “solid skepticism” and “couldn’t care less.”
When they announced Rob Thomas was running it, I thought it could be interesting. When they added Lori Loughlin to the cast, I said to myself “maybe I’ll watch the first episode.”
With the casting of Jessica Walter (and the return of Lucille Bluth) this project was just elevated to must-see status (at least the first episode for me.)
Lucille Bluth is WAY too good for a 90210 spinoff. C’Mon!

Definitely agree that this suddenly became a must see show because of Jessica Walter! I wonder how she does with drama instead of comedy? I’m not really familiar with her body of work…
Oh I forgot to tell you. It can’t be a spinoff if noone from the original series won’t be on it. I loved and still love watching 90210…this is a joke.
Spin-offs are just like sequals – they are never as good as the real thing. I still watch 90210 on Soapnet everyday from 5-7. Nothing can ever top the real show!
umm beverly hills 90210, was actually a spin-off of Melrose Place, and it was fantastic so this is going to be Sweet!
and jennie garth will be staring as a guidance consueller, and there is talk of tori spelling coming back as donna martin silver as well
Actually, Melrose was a spin-off of 90210 not the other way around. It came 2 years after 90210:)
