'Entourage' gets psychedelic this fall

Adriangrenier_l Wondering how the strike affected fake Hollywood? It'll delay the debut of Entourage's fifth season until September, and the HBO comedy may deliver 12 episodes instead of 14 — though creator Doug Ellin says he's "writing as fast as I can" to reach 14. This season, which starts shooting in late April, will pick up with the fallout from Cannes, where Vince's Medellin tanked. "The group dynamic is changing," hints Ellin. "Eric [Kevin Connolly] is finding success on his own, grabbing other clients, and Vince [Adrian Grenier] is suddenly having a hard time." The boys trek to Mexico and Joshua Tree National Park, where they'll "eat some psychedelic mushrooms and try to find themselves. It's one of my favorite episodes. It's their Into the Wild trip." With a happier ending, we presume.

Ok, I love, love, love entourage. BUT, Doug Ellin should have been writing and just not turning them in so we could have Entourage return for the summer. It is what i look forward to because I know my boys and Shauna will be back to keep me sane from crappy reality shows of the warmer months. What am I going to do between now and September??? Maybe just watch season 2 all over again because it's the best by far.

I'm excited about the new season, even if we can't watch it during the summer. Chase made us wait two years for the return of the Sopranos, so HBO's gotten me used to waiting.

Given that the show's based on experiences surrounding Mark Walhberg, it was clear to see the parallels between Aquaman and Planet of the Apes. But what movie was Medellin supposed to represent? I remember Wahlberg went through some lean times before he made an impressive comeback with the Italian Job and (later) the Departed.

Maybe he can write a fishing-trip episode...ya know...the one where they try to find that shark that they jumped last season.

Kanye West saves the day with his airplane?!?!?! Suck-ass television.

Josh Thu, Mar 20, 2008 at 02:01 PM EST

Agree totally pk.

The scariest phrase of this article - "writing as fast as I can." I am scared what sort of trash that will produce given that since season two, this show has steadily degraded in quality.

Does anyone know when season 3 of Entourage will be released on DVD?

even though I'm kind of tired of this show, I can't wait for it to get back. Ari cracks me up.

Can't wait for Entourage to return.
My prediction is that U2 and the song "Still Haven't Found what I'm looking For" will play predominately in the Wild Trip episode. Get it- Joshua Tree- U2?
I for one miss Vince, E and the boys and have been dying for new episodes.
6 months is still a long way off, but at least we are starting to get glimmers of hope.
I just hope they are able to get enough shows filmed before the Actors strike at the end of June. I wish they weren't wait til the 3rd week of April to begin shooting. Can someone call Doug Ellin and tell him to start filming now?

Seriously- how does Turtle know "The Big Ego" aka Kanye West?

HBOver Fri, Mar 21, 2008 at 09:31 AM EST

"Entourage" - one of the last remaining shows worth watching on HBOver. It's sooooo sad what's happened to this channel -- bad decision after bad decision, the most egregious being the replacement of "Deadwood" with "John from Cincinnati," but there's a long list. If you aren't watching Showtime now instead -- "Dexter," "Brotherhood," "Californication," "Weeds," "The Tudors," and so on and on -- you really are spending your premium TV money in the wrong place. Everything on Showtime rocks now the way HBOver used to, before it started treating its audience with contempt.

It would be cool if one of the guys hallucinates about having a conversation with Bono.
