The CW’s freshman series Gossip Girl was originally expected to return from the writers’ strike and finish out its entire back-nine episode order with five episodes this spring and then four more episodes in the summer. Teen soaps like Beverly Hills, 90210 and The O.C. (also created by GG’s Josh Schwartz) used similar warm-weather runs to help them break out. But Schwartz says his new soap probably won’t air this summer after all, because of scheduling issues for The CW, so GG will most likely finish the season with the five spring episodes, which start airing April 21. "We really wanted to come on in the summer, but I don’t know that’s going to happen," he tells EW.com. "I could have finally gone to the Hamptons!" But Schwartz says GG fans may still get beach time with Serena and Blair. "The season opener might be a Hamptons kind of thing. The last day of summer." We’ll take what we can get!

What? Is CW dumb? They need to make this show a HIT and the summer could totally help that. What a disappointment.
