1) The return of Addison for one episode was only for the benefit of GREYS, it will not help Private Practice. People are not going to remember the fact that Addie was on Greys in the Fall lol. Ridiculous.

2) Greys ratings have dropped 25% this season. JeanelovesJezebel needs to get her facts straight. It's only pulling barely 15m at present. It is a show that is sinking & FAST.

Okay, I think It's really sad that Grey's fans have to be psychotic about their opinions. But the truth is, is that they have to be. Their show is sinking quick, and why? Well to be told it's because of a couple of thinks in my opinion. The first being that people get tired of watching everyone sleep around. I can't tell you how many people I've heard say that they got tired of the friendcest that was happening on the show. Second of all the realtionships that they did have going and ended they didn't end properly. People are pissed that there wasn't a proper ending to Mark and Addison, Addison and Derek, Addison and Alex, Burke and Cristina, George and Callie... and the list goes on. Finally, people are over the MerDer story. Marry them already and get it over with. I stopped watching this show becaue if I wanted to watch pathetic highschool drama I'd jump in my car, drive myself to the nearest highschool and plant myself in the middle of the halls between classes.

It's disruptive because there's simply no need for it. Addison's story was told and a new story on a new show has begun. However the new show has not only dipped in ratings but has become a critical joke. TV Guides recent podcasters said they barely speak of PrP while it aired because it was nothing but overplayed, contrived and non original. A sentiment that has been backed up practically everywhere form all sides. Walsh is doing a cross promotion for her show because Grey's averages anywhere from 19-24 million per episode where Practice has not even come near that. Whether you think Grey's is better or not (the amount of fans and critics support kind of backs my opinion but whatever) the truth of the matter is Shonda has a story to tell GA fans and only has 5 eps to do it in. The last thing we need is a character who is no longer part of the show coming back to promote her own show. It's needless and ruins the stories of the main characters of Grey's yet to be told.

Sorry about the misspelling of Grey's/Gray's-I assumed the show was spelled the same way that the medical book was spelled. Henry Gray was the author. I really hope both shows do well. And as far as Kate Walsh goes, I just heard her speak on behalf of Barack Obama.I would have to say she is anything but desparate.It's just one episode, why will it disrupt a TV show?

Kate Walsh's appearance on GA was at first something that really excited fans, but more and more when I get online fans are less support. It seems like an all out gimmick move from Shonda Rhimes who at this point with GA and the disappointment of critics of the lackluster PrP, is the last thing she needs to do. For Kate Walsh to return to this show does nothing to support GA's over 18 million viewers a week, but will support the 9 million Practice gets. Overall many fans as well as the media feels this will be more disruptive to Grey's than anything and more and more Kate Walsh's appearance is less and less supported. In the end, it's an act of desperation from both Walsh and Rhimes.

Marlene-you read my mind. This show is such a waste and the only reason KW is coming back on GA is to run on the success that show has. Some critics have just plain stopped talking about PrP because of how bad it is. I loved Kate as Addison on GA, but she is a overly goof ridden shell of the kick butt surgeon she once was and that Addy/Pete thing lacks so much chemistry and is bogged down with horrible one liners and teenage soap like contrived plot lines. Shonda is ruining her credibility with this show and Kate Walsh coming back to GA does nothing to boost GA. Addison for GA now is just another unneeded character on that show. The characters have moved on without her just as they did before she came at the end of S1. Let it die already and leave the fans that enjoy the horrible mess PrP Walsh's presence.
BTW..to the poster above it's spelled "Grey's" Anatomy not "Grays" Is spelling a subject they teach in your grade school?

I can't wait to watch Kate Walsh on May 1! She's awsome! I just wish I were watching Private Practice rather than Grays Anatomy, but Private Practice will return in the fall. I really don't get why some fans are so angry that Kate is returning for an episode. Addison and Pete are Meredith and Derek light. They hyped them so much before the show even started, that what could have been a good story line was already played out before it began and the elevators and stairwells.. rally? REALLY? Now where have I seen a couple on a Shonda show do that before? Oh yeah, it's Meredith and Derek...Hmmm..and some of the dialog was taken from Grey's as well. Now Rhimes is hiring producers for PrP, trying to pimp out Kate Walsh as Addison with Grey's. Let's see GA 19 million a week, PrP...8-10. Yep, Grey's sure needs Kate Walsh as Addison to boost ratings (lol) Critics hate PrP and Walsh is the weakest character on the show and she's the lead. SOS Private Practice..you need help..or should I say R.I.P PrP. There's just too many new shows way better than this.

I enjoy Private Practice - it is certainly brighter & more enjoyable than Greys & with a talented small cast. Reading these posts, obviously some Greys fans like Claire resent the attention that PrP attracts as a new show. Why comment just to attack ?

Read the postings. Have to agree with PP fans. The show is the bomb. I was a big GA fan until they decided to fire Dr. Burke because George wasn't adult enough to defend himself. Where is the freedom of speach right? Having lost both Burke and Addison was a big hit for GA. To be honest I really did not like Addison/Alex combination, and Grey/McDreamy was overrated. -- We have to be honest and admit that Addison and Pete are the hotest couple at the moment. -- Prducers should concetrate in airing Season 2 of PP sooner than fall 08 instead and forget bringing Addie back to GA.

I will endure the one Greys ep just to see Addison.

In answer to "Annie Hall" above - Private Practice like other ABC new dramas is returning in Sept. It's already been renewed for the second season. Critics may not have liked it, but that hasn't stopped it being one of the few new hits this season & it certainly has more potential than Greys which is treading water to stay alive.

Kate Walsh was chosen for the spin-off for a reason - she was one of the most popular characters (certainly female).

Better to be on a brand-new show that improves with every ep (already renewed for 2nd season) than the sinking ship that is Greys which only goes downhill fast.

Every site I've visited has comments from people saying how much they want to see Addie back to slap some sense into 95% of the Greys folk.

It will certainly be the highest-rated ep this season, which is ironic, given they need to bring Addie back for it LOL. Nice compliment to Kate Walsh :)

I'm another Grey's fan that can't stand Private Practice.

I also agree that Grey's has been milquetoast since Burke is gone, and Addison being gone has not helped.

I'd like to see them both back...I am still angry with Shonda that Burke was let go for exercising his supposed right to free speech, whether we agree with what he says or not.

Hanging in there for the new episodes, but barely...the fall completely BORED me, I was very disappointed with the shows and have not missed it at all. And this is coming from someone who was hooked with the first show!

I wish I could be excited about this but it will be another ratings stunt during sweeps. To me this just means that Shonda has no idea how to continue with this horrible season. 2 days ago she wasn't coming, now she is, and TR is saying that they will cram all the storylines in 5 episodes plus a new visit from Addison. I think this is Greys in panic mode after they went from 22 to 17 million viewers...nothing good can come from this. It's sad, Grey's is done.

If Dempsey is upstaged by his GA cast, then clue me in on just how much Audra McDonald and KaDee Strickland smoke on Walsh. I realize you are a fan, but really, you attack Dempsey's looks and stereotype him by saying he better make the most of it before his hair falls out, then too Walsh should hurry as Addison seems to be the only type of character she's ever played and hey, the red hair dye can only get you so far, she just ain't getting any younger...Women have a tough time getting the good roles in her age group and given her limited acting range, I'd put her shelf life at slightly less than Dempsey's. But you keep enjoying those car ads, that's how Oscar winners are built I guess.

You're a Kate Walsh fan who can't stand any debate on her and when did anyone bring up Ellen Pompeo? Nice cheap shot but that's where Walsh fans take it when they don't have any good argument for Walsh herself. Private Practice is a knock off of Grey's and a bad one. Addison as a character went from a doctor with a heart who was unstoppable on GA to a laughable goof on PP and the ratings have slipped. It isn't just critics, many fans feel the same. Look, I don't hate Walsh, but the fact that she is coming on a show that until the strike both Rhimes and Walsh insisted "Addison won't return to" seems like a big promotional move to getsome of the GA hype back to her show. Fact is, the show is nothing special and given the fact that Rhimes is busy shopping new producers for PP shows me she lacks the same confidence fans have in it.

Claire, trust me when I say Private Practice will be returning in the fall(it was one of my homework assignments) While the critics do not like Private Practice, you must admit, they also don't like Grey's.(or Ellen Pompeo's acting for that matter) And while Kate Walsh's last major film was Kicking and Screaming(most reviewers said 'it's too bad the lovely Kate Walsh wasn't given much to do')she has worked consistently since starting out as an actress compared to the 'has been'years of Patrick Dempsey.The cast gets along as professionals. Sandra would have loved the solo show because it is a bit absurd that she is playing the supporting role. The reason PD will not talk about the spinoff is because it had to have been a huge blow to his ego. Walsh is a doll and the cast of Private Practice is very professional and happy together.

Private Practice is one of the few hits of this interrupted season, so CLAIRE - if PP is doomed, so is every other new show this year !! And so what if the critics don't like it - since when have they liked Greys this season ! Taking on a new Exe Producer is hardly news. All new shows are tweaked. Good time to do it now.

Kate's Cadillac commercials have been far more successful than Patrick hawking himself for Versace - but then when you've only got your looks to go on, he has to make the most of it before his hair starts to fall out !! He is one typecast actor, only playing the same version of McDouchbag, upstaged by the supporting cast on Greys & upstaged by everyone in Enchanted !

Kate's Caddy ads have been credited with turning the company around, have won awards in the industry & Kate has been credited as the Cadillac icon. Seeing as Bob Dylan's Cadillac ad didn't generate half the publicity that Kate's did, I think we can safely say it's been v v v successful !

Linda..I have done my homework and if you grab the new EW magazine, there is a whole story about Shonda Rhimes getting at least one new producers for Private Practice because word of mouth is the show is less than quality and they are worried about it coming back in the fall (what they have to deliver to the fans) so while it has done okay, it certainly isn't lighting up anything. It's barely talked about by show critics. The TV Guide online critics just groan when the show is brought up. There was nowhere else to take Addison on GA, and Shonda had options to do more shows, hence PP, but Dempsey is STILL the star...What was the last hit film Walsh had out? Oh yea, wasn't that kicking and screaming? Big box office for sure..Oh but yeah, she's got the car commercials..let's see Dempsey is doing Versace ads Walsh hocking Cadillac...hmm...She needs to be on GA because the word of mouth on PP's return isn't out there at all...sorry to tell you, if Dempsey left GA, so would ratings.

They should definitely bring back Dr. Burke and Addison. There's a definite hole in the show without those two characters who were fully developed, complex characters.

Private Practice sucks, so ABC should just cancel it and send Addison back to Seattle Grace.

okay - i tried watching Private Practise... and to me it was not good at all.... nothing compared to grey's anatomy. The only thing that has went downhill about grey's anatomy - i think - is that they ruined the only good couple left... Christina Yang and Dr.Burke.... on top of that, he was just taken off the show - which to me, was very stupid... even if him and george had problems... i think that they should have put their personal issues aside when it came to Grey's Anatomy.... and honestly, i think the writers strike did have a huge affect on why grey's anatomy has went downhill this season.... 2nd season was AMAZING and the 3rd season was excellent too - but after that, everything just went blah. So yeah... i think they should bring back Addison and Dr.Burke. To me, those are there only options of picking grey's anatomy's rates back up! and to me, it would be awesome if Dr.Burke came back. I really liked him in the show.

I'm ecstatic that we get to see Kate on Grey's again but am disappointed that it's only for one episode. How much can they possibly do in one episode? I miss her on Grey's and her scenes with PD. They were one hot couple even when they were fighting (or esp so?). Anyhow, they were a far more interesting couple than PD and EP. Why do so many people say PD is arrogant? From all the interviews he's given, he seems like a genuinely nice chap.

Ahhh. My dream come true. I hate PP, but I love Addison on Greys. I would LOVE if they did something more with her and Alex, although they kind of ruined that wonderful pairing. I can't wait to watch Greys, and I never thought I would say that (ever again).

Claire - Kate was chosen for her own show, enough said.

And do your homework - PrP is the 2nd highest rated new show this yr - even beating old hits like Ugly Betty. It's seen off the competition Bionic Woman already. It may not be liked by male TV critics (not that they are the demographic anyway), but then Greys has been slated this season so what do you expect ?

Greys is an ensemble with the strength being it's supporting players - hence them picking up all the awards. Funny that PD or EP never win anything, other than most arrogant star for Patrick ! He may be the favorite with housewives & teenage girls, but he's no way near an actor of Hugh Laurie's talents.

People are sick of recycled storylines & on/off Mer/Der teenage boredom.

ABC recognised Addie & Kate Walsh's popularity by giving her a spin-off, now they are using her as a ratings ploy during a boring season to boost ratings. Smart move !

uhm..yeah, Kate Walsh was the most popular character on Grey's, wait a second.....no she wasn't. There are new shows with higher ratings than Private Practice was getting before the strike and let's face it, PP isn't exacly lighting any crtics fires. Walsh is okay on it, but I wouldn't exactly say she's in a star making show now. Besides that, Dempsey has had TWO hit films, just went to the Oscars and is certainly the most popoular character on Grey's...Sorry to call you on that, but you know you are wrong there.
