Does 'Friday Night Lights' have a future off NBC?

Feb 7, 2008, 06:33 PM | by Lynette Rice

Categories: TV Biz

Fnl_l_2 NBC has yet to decide whether to order any more episodes of Friday Night Lights this season but that may not mean the end of the critically-adored drama. A source close to the series confirmed that Universal is considering whether to shop the Kyle Chandler starrer to another network rather than cancel it outright. The source cautioned, however, that NBC hasn't closed the door on the show just yet. In fact, one scenario making the rounds is a shared window for FNL with one of NBC's sister cable networks. While struggling in the ratings (FNL has only attracted an average 6.1 million viewers this season and typically finishes third in its timeslot), the show is a huge favorite among TV critics and even beloved by many executives at competing networks because of its multi-generational themes. The drama has also netted an Emmy for casting and a Peabody Award.

FNL has already produced 15 episodes for this season, the last of which will air Feb. 8. Should the writers' strike end by Feb. 15, the show's writers could complete the final arc of the season in five or six episodes if NBC gives it the greenlight, according to executive producer Jason Katims. As of right now, Katims has no plans to write the final episode as a series finale. "I would do it as a cliffhanger and leave things open-ended unless of course we were told that the show was ending," he says. "But I doubt that would be the case because if they bring the show back to do more episodes this season, they’re also going to be hoping that the show returns for a third season." (With reporting by Dan Snierson)

Love this show! Please leave the good shows ON !!

Kathy Sun, Mar 30, 2008 at 09:23 AM EST

Please keep Friday Night Lights on TV. It's the only show where our family and son's friends can sit and watch a show together. We have to DVR the show since they moved it to Friday nights when our high schooler plays football. But we came home and stayed up to watched that night's episode. I love how we can talk and speculate what is going to happen next. It's an awesome show with great actors and writers who keep the story lines very interesting and real! We love Friday Night Lights!

Darlene Hoffmann Fri, Mar 28, 2008 at 01:21 AM EST

My absolute favorite show! Must stay on the air.

Chris Thu, Mar 27, 2008 at 07:28 PM EST

KEEP THIS SHOW RUNNING. IT IS THE BEST SERIES ON TV.

Franci Tue, Mar 25, 2008 at 06:34 PM EST

I can't stand NBC. They finally have a good quality show and have the nerve to want to cancel it. Yet, they put on this crap like Dipstick Jungle and so many reality CRAP shows. I'm sick of reality TV. I'll watch Friday Night Lights on any network, anytime and anyday of the week. DO NOT CANCEL THIS GREAT SHOW! The people at NBC are IDIOTS!!

Zach Sat, Mar 22, 2008 at 12:38 AM EST

This is probaly the best show I watch. I can't wait any longer!

Joni Howe Fri, Mar 21, 2008 at 06:58 PM EST

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE bring back FNL I had a bunch of us that would get together every Friday night and watch this and we have been disappointed that there was not even a season finale, and then to find out NBC may not be re-newing its contract is ridiculous. That show is the most true to life show I have ever watched and the cast was amazing. Please give us back out favorite show.

Clarence Thu, Mar 20, 2008 at 06:50 PM EST

I think Friday Night Lights should be showed and on air. This show to me is too good to just end . If the show can't be aired on NBC then it should be on another popular channel , so the fans can still watch their favorite show.

yo Thu, Mar 20, 2008 at 04:25 PM EST

Friday night lights is the best show on the air! if it gets cancelled i seriosly don't know what i will do...

ck Wed, Mar 19, 2008 at 01:04 PM EST

I echo every single comment posted above .... This is a special special show. Thru times there have been many bubble shows that were given enough life to latch on. I personally like the viewing slot but the network clearly realizes this is not a primo slot - hence they risk failure. However - kudos for them realizing the fans and the show itself is EXCEPTIONAL!!!

The casting, the story lines, and the anticipation from show to show is some of the finest TV to hit a network in years. Some of the other networks like FX, TBS, TNT, USA, FOX--- all seem to be embracing not only shows like this - BUT SECURING VIEWER LOYALTY. They stick with shows - and give them a chance to grow - evolve.... The majors are cutting so quick the frustration factor is getting hard to handle.

Please keep the show - it's outstanding and love the ENTIRE CAST. My greatest fear and curiosity is casting the next cast and securing some of those characters after they graduate into the story line.

KEEP FNL!!!!

C Thu, Mar 13, 2008 at 12:35 PM EST

The very best show on television. I hope that the TV execs make the right decision here and keep it on the air. It is broadly appealing - everyone in my house enjoys watching it!!

Erin Mon, Mar 10, 2008 at 03:10 PM EST

This show must stay. It's one of the most entertaining shows on the air.

Kristina Fri, Mar 7, 2008 at 09:14 PM EST

This show is far better than any other show NBC has on. It connects with the heart of Texans along with families of high schoolers. Lets keep this show airing on TV. If NBC can keep Medium, which in my opinion, sucks, than they can keep FNL.

Damon Fri, Mar 7, 2008 at 08:21 PM EST

dont cancel this show. it is by far the best show on tv

Fri, Mar 7, 2008 at 02:54 PM EST

Please keep the show on NBC. I miss it. So do all my friends!!!!! It's a great show about real people. The writers are very creative with the story line. I am waiting to look forward to my Friday's again.

FNL is the best show on TV. I think the facy the network has the show airing on Fridays that a lot of people who would watch can't. Fridays are busy for most people and its hard to find time to watch tv however I make it a point to make the time. It really sucks that the show has not been on lately and I miss it.

Deb Thu, Mar 6, 2008 at 10:50 AM EST

Pleeeese bring FNL back...My husband & I are crazy about it & look so forward to watching it on Friday Nights!!!! We love it!!!

Allison Mon, Mar 3, 2008 at 07:53 PM EST

It's frustrating to become so involved with these characters and then have them taken away. I know it sounds ridiculous but I actually miss them! I hope NBC will atleast let the season finish out with some resolution. I need closure.

Renaye Mon, Mar 3, 2008 at 01:27 PM EST

FNL is the only show my husband and I make sure we are home to watch! Please don't cancel the show! We even look forward to the theme song each week!

Gretchen Sun, Mar 2, 2008 at 05:39 PM EST

Please keep FNL on the air! It is an amazing show that many can relate to. My friends, family and I love to watch the show.

gloria cabaniss Sun, Mar 2, 2008 at 02:50 PM EST

My husband and I love this show. If it is cancelled by nbc we will never watch nbc ever again. The acting is some of the best television acting seen in years. We can't understand why more people aren't watching. In this day in age of reality TV and other mindless and inferior television I guess people forgot what a good show is.

kathy Sat, Mar 1, 2008 at 04:40 PM EST

This is a show that my family can watch TOGETHER. I would rather my "tween" be home watching this show with us rather than out running the roads, playing video games or just up in his room away from us. This show is part of our "family tv night" Please keep it going!

Deb Henry Fri, Feb 29, 2008 at 07:56 PM EST

Please don't take Friday Night Lights off the air. We love that show!!!!!!!

Shelby Fri, Feb 29, 2008 at 05:53 PM EST

I am so tired of reality T.V.!!! What is happening to sitcom's? I would watch FNL anywhere!! Wherever they move it I'm there. I would be so upset to never see Tim Riggins again!! He's the hightlight of the weekend. Please someone do something to keep them on the air.

Mindy Fri, Feb 29, 2008 at 03:28 PM EST

I LOVE this show! I think it has great story lines! I think the Taylor's have an awesome marriage/family and values that people admire. This is what people should admire and want to mimic rather than all the other negative values being shown. PLEASE KEEP IT!!!!!!!!! Or have another station pick it up! Big mistake if you don't.

Cathy M. Wed, Feb 27, 2008 at 09:45 PM EST

Cancelling this show would be criminal! My husband and I LOVE it. I've saved every episode on TIVO to watch again when my husband gets back from his deployment! Please don't cancel this WONDERFUL show.

billb Wed, Feb 27, 2008 at 06:07 PM EST

Just save it already. What else does NBC have? Bionic Woman? Oh, yea, that was cancelled already (thank god). Just put it on a better night, say Wednesday at 9:00 (central) with a decent lead-in. Please.

Virgil Moore Tue, Feb 26, 2008 at 08:32 PM EST

We've watched every episode so far and are really missing FNL. This show should be promoted better by NBC. It is so typical of small town America on Friday nights when the football game is a social event as well as a sports event.

Shari Tue, Feb 26, 2008 at 04:39 PM EST

The last thing we need is yet another childish game show. There needs to be at least one decent story line on T.V., and some of us don't enjoy cop dramas, which have taken over all the other non-game show slots. Does NBC think its advertisers want the $20K demographic that comes from game show watchers, or the $200K educated demographic who watches FNL because it is so beautifully written? And when are T.V. execs going to realize that the television ratings system is akin to the horse and buggy? People watch shows on their own time, as a result of tivo and my space. NBC, if you're not smart enough to recognize the gem you've got, please give it to FOX, HBO, Bravo or showtime, where all the other quality programming lives. Then you can show back to back episodes of My dad is better and American Gladiators to that hourly wage demographic.

stan Mon, Feb 25, 2008 at 08:10 PM EST

this is complete BS.. Friday Night Lights is the best show on NBC, so if there gona make us wait to watch the rest of the season any longer then give it to another network and watch the ratings sky rocket.. Figure it out

Susan Mon, Feb 25, 2008 at 08:08 PM EST

A very good show, multi-faceted, great story lines and NOT a reality show! Keep *good* TV on!

K.L. Mon, Feb 25, 2008 at 08:51 AM EST

FNL is one of the best shows on! It would be a shame to let this one go. There are very few shows on that the whole family can watch.

Vivian Mon, Feb 25, 2008 at 12:16 AM EST

KEEP THIS SHOW ON THE AIR!! IT'S GOOD AND WE NEED GOOD TV.

Bill Hill Sun, Feb 24, 2008 at 11:17 AM EST

We really enjoy Friday Night Lights. It's one of only a very few excellent programs on television. The endless reality and pseudo game shows that dominate televsion are a poor reflection on our society and are surely mind deadening.

chet Sat, Feb 23, 2008 at 11:02 AM EST

Friday Night Lights is by far one of the best, if not, the best show on TV right now. NBC is a joke anymore. Every great show on TV was on NBC at one time now ABC or CBS have them all, all because NBC won't stick to a good show anymore. Like FNL, that show pulls in an average 5.9 million viewers and is 3rd in it's timeslot. 3rd is pretty good and close to 6 million viewers is far from a bad show. NBC wants to cancel every show they make within 3 episodes if they don't have 100 billion viewers and won't give any show a chance. If they take FNL off the air, I'm done with NBC all together. I'm tired of getting interested in a series only to have them pull it half way through the season. And it's reasons like that which is why CBS and ABC now have a greater audience and keep shows around longer.

I have an idea to save FNL but I need a lot of help.
Please visit a quick website I put up today and let me know if you would be willing to pass the word:

Please let me know if you can help.

Thanks!

I love The Office and 30 Rock, but Friday Night Lights is the ONLY drama NBC has created that has resonated with me. I love this show and I will be so upset if it gets canceled. Neither of the previously mentioned shows would fill the void, so if NBC doesn't keep FNL, they won't keep me, either.

I also can't believe I am writing online about a tv show- but FNL is worth it...What a great show! Look forward to it every time and never disappointed. I think the characters are compelling and storyline interesting. What more could people want for entertainment. I really hope NBC keeps it alive- or someone else picks it up- FNL has too many loyal fans- especially us!

Kim Fri, Feb 22, 2008 at 07:31 PM EST

Please dont cancel FNL its the best, everyone asks me what im going to do on Fridays and I always say Watch FNL. It's really the only TV show I just have to watch. Please, please keep it on and if NBC is gonna cancel, just do it so someone smart will take it ane air it so all of us can watch it!

redbaron Fri, Feb 22, 2008 at 06:51 PM EST

FNL is great! Friday is the kiss of death for a show though. Move it to a better night, try running new episodes more often then once a month and keep it consistent!!

Emmy Dardick Fri, Feb 22, 2008 at 06:31 PM EST

SAVE THE SHOW!!!!! It is the best show on TV. I makes you think and the acting is by far superior to anything else out there.

newf Fri, Feb 22, 2008 at 04:45 PM EST

can't believe i'm actually posting online about a tv show, but FNL is so good that i had to. great directing, writing, acting, cinematography, etc...

not a huge tv watcher, (nor do i like watching football) but always make an appointment to watch this show... and to tell others how great it is.

NBC has dropped the ball on how they are marketing (or rather, not marketing) the show. step up!

at least produce a third season so that syndications/reruns are a possibility...

Dave Fri, Feb 22, 2008 at 01:24 PM EST

NBC..add me to the list..please don't cancel this show..the best drama on tv..and while I am at it, the network is also fortunate to have the best comedy (30 Rock)..please don't cancel that one either..thanks

Kim Thu, Feb 21, 2008 at 02:14 PM EST

Keep this show on the air, it is one of the best around, sometimes I wonder if people at NBC have brains, this is a great show, for once, use your brain.

Renee Wed, Feb 20, 2008 at 08:41 PM EST

Friday Night Lights is the one show that I would follow anywhere. It's watched by my family from age 23 to 67! How many shows have that kind of appeal?!?!

Lulu Wed, Feb 20, 2008 at 01:28 PM EST

Best show on television HANDS DOWN!

Kathy Priddy Tue, Feb 19, 2008 at 09:53 PM EST

This is such a great show. I would watch it wearever it end up. Hopefully NBC will have an enlightened moment and keep something worth watching on their network.

I watch Friday Night Lights every week religiously and I know more than a handful of students at my school who are just as dedicated, if not more so than me. I don't know what I'd do if it was cancelled!

Ashley Tue, Feb 19, 2008 at 09:16 PM EST

I love Friday Night Lights and I can't believe they are thinking of canceling it! I hope they don't cancel it.

Sally Tue, Feb 19, 2008 at 06:08 PM EST

This is the best show on television. NBC you will be losing a viewer if you cancel this show. I still don't watch anything on ABC since they cancelled Homefront.

CJ Tue, Feb 19, 2008 at 03:58 PM EST

I'm with all of you, if NBC doesn't continue with the show, they should give it to another network. I LOVE this show. Its probably one of my favorites!! I couldn't bare to see it go =(

Jacie Tue, Feb 19, 2008 at 01:21 PM EST

Don't pull the plug, NBC. FNL is still finding its audience, and will be the biggest hit ever if you give it some breathing room. I just started watching it this season, and am now working through the DVDs of Season One. Excellent!!!

Lisa Mon, Feb 18, 2008 at 09:11 PM EST

The only reason the ratings have gone down is the Friday night airing, I have a hard time catching it on Friday nights, not alot of people stay home on Fri. nights. But be sure when i miss it I watch it online the very next day. Cant live without it!!!!

Hey everyone,

I've been sending emails to NBC daily not to cancel. I copied and pasted many of your comments posted here and emailed it to them. I will email them everyday until they decide to either renew or let it go to another network.

If you all do the same maybe they'll get the hint.

http://www.nbc.com/Footer/Contact_Us/

scroll down to select a show, (obviously) select Friday Night Ligts and type your heart away.

CLEAR MINDS!
FULL HEARTS!
CAN'T CANCEL!!

KEEP THE LIGHTS ON PEOPLE!!

Mark Mon, Feb 18, 2008 at 01:36 AM EST

Not every show is going to have 23 million viewers NBC. You finally have a product that's different and has character depth, and you want to get rid of it? How much more reality crap do you think we're going to swallow before we never turn on prime time again?

Kay Sun, Feb 17, 2008 at 11:06 PM EST

I can honestly say that FNL has rekindled a love for TV dramas in my life. It is the only that has depth with characters in which real people can relate. The script writers, photography, production and of course acting contribute to bring a stellar series!

Missy Sun, Feb 17, 2008 at 05:44 PM EST

I love FNL - it's about time we get a good show on the air - I'm tired of all the "law" shows or all the shows that are about the same things!! This show brings families together and it would be a shame to lose it. Being on a different network wouldn't matter - JUST PLEASE KEEP THE SHOW GOING!!

cantgetenoughFNL Sat, Feb 16, 2008 at 07:49 AM EST

I hope FNL continues. My family enjoys the show so much. When I was a child families came together to watch tv programs. This options had not been available to me with my children on network tv. FNL is a pure family show that parents can feel good about letting their children watch with or withh out them. It also provides nice segways into talking to your child about difficult subjucts. If this show were to be cancelled NBC would prove that family values mean nothing to viewers. The real feel of FNL might not appeal to everyone out there, but for many neither does the endless spinoffs of Law and Order.

FNL.....It's one of the only show my spouse and I watch together. Please bring it back!!!The kids haven't graduated yet!!!

Pamela Gerfin Fri, Feb 15, 2008 at 07:40 PM EST

I have watched this show every Friday night since the first episode. It would be a shame to take a program off the air that is as popular as this one. It covers so much information that is going on in the world today. I have not missed one episode. Also Coach Taylor and Tammy were chosen couple of the year. It would not make sense to take a show off the air that has the most popular tv couple on it.

Gloria Fri, Feb 15, 2008 at 06:19 PM EST

This is the type of show we need to keep. It is a good family show. It is about real life not just football.

Susannah Long Fri, Feb 15, 2008 at 09:46 AM EST

Please don't take Friday Nights Lights off the air. It is the best damn show on television!!

Matt Fri, Feb 15, 2008 at 08:21 AM EST

This is an excellent family show. If it is cancelled it will only accelerate the demise of network tv.

D Thu, Feb 14, 2008 at 10:50 PM EST

this is by far the best show on TV...please do not end this! I will watch it on cable

Shannon C. Thu, Feb 14, 2008 at 10:50 PM EST

What will it take to get these networks to understand that ratings don't mean anything when it comes to how good the show really is? In the world we live in today we only have so many things that can make us happy beyond the wars, bombings, school shootings and all around crazy world we live in. Is it really so much to ask that we get to continue to watch what is literally the best television show i have watched in my lifetime? (i am 31 years old). Of course, i loved My So Called Life and it got cancelled, it was also a great TV show along with so many that have been cut short. Can we please, just once get what we WANT as viewers. This is not just a TV show but it is hope. Hope that there really is quality writing, acting, and directing. This is QUALITY like no other. PLEASE PLEASE do not take this show from us. It will only prove that NBC deserves to be in the bottom realm of television networks because they promote shows like Celebrity Apprentice & The Knight Rider. We deserve better!

I'm a little confused - doesn't NBC look at their own website to see that FNL is their fifth most watched show online? Do they think they only need four decent shows to compete with the other gazillion networks, so they can just ditch that fifth one? Ok, so maybe we can't all watch it on Friday nights when it's (stupidly) scheduled. But we are apparently watching online - what more do they want from us? I've turned on many folks to this show, and once they start watching, they are hooked - which says something in this day of short attention spans. Love the camera work, the writing, the story lines, the settings, the acting - it's the whole package. Will follow it anywhere.

Kristi Thu, Feb 14, 2008 at 05:23 PM EST

I love this show and I would watch in on any channel and at any time. It is a great show!!!!!

Joe Miller Thu, Feb 14, 2008 at 02:45 PM EST

Best show on television! Please keep it around NBC!

Lynn Thu, Feb 14, 2008 at 01:23 PM EST

Save Friday Night Lights!!! It is the best show out there. I just started watching it this season. I did not know what I was missing!! This show is all heart!!!

Kate Thu, Feb 14, 2008 at 10:21 AM EST

Just another name to the list. This show is amazing. I''m staying with it the end. Simply put, even before THE STRIKE, it was one of the top three shows on television. If NBC sells off this show, THEY LOSE. Not only will they lose this award winning show, they lose faith in all of the people that have written comments on this article, and the many more that haven't (yet).

ALS Thu, Feb 14, 2008 at 09:20 AM EST

No doubt that this is the best show on TV today. Since Everwood went away, this is the only show that has the unique ability to cater to teens, young adults, and parents of teens. It would be a real shame for it to go away.

kmh Thu, Feb 14, 2008 at 08:51 AM EST

FNL is hands down the best show on TV. I hate that it's on on Friday night, but I record it and watch it online and come home early to catch it. Maybe give it a better time slot! And advertise it more! But don't cancel it so you can produce more crap reality tv.

kyle chandler Thu, Feb 14, 2008 at 08:20 AM EST

We should do same for this show as they did for Jericho...send something in to NBC to show our support for this great show.

Cory Thu, Feb 14, 2008 at 01:32 AM EST

Clear eyes, full hearts, can't lose.

Scooter McGavin Wed, Feb 13, 2008 at 11:40 PM EST

Friday Night Lights needs to be on the air next season even if it gets sold to Soap Net or Animal Planet.

amy Wed, Feb 13, 2008 at 07:09 PM EST

please do not take this show off the air. It is by far my favorite show to watch. I look forward to friday nights because of this show.

Heather Wed, Feb 13, 2008 at 05:41 PM EST

FNL is one of my favorite shows of all times. It's my hands-down favorite show of all the shows on the air right now. The acting, writing, filming, set, music are all wonderful! Please keep it on the air! I, like a lot of fans here, will follow the show wherever it goes - whether it stays on NBC or goes to another network.

michelle Wed, Feb 13, 2008 at 05:05 PM EST

pleeezzzzzzzzzzz! keep on the air.. I so look forward after a hard day at work coming home , chilling out and watching this fine program.. !!

Patricia Barreiro Wed, Feb 13, 2008 at 04:50 PM EST

I've never written about a TV show, and I've almost stopped watching network TV entirely, but this show is one of my all-time favorites. With all the cheesy, badly written junk that passes for entertainment these days, how can NBC consider cancelling a show that has the best scripts, the best acting, and a loyal following. How do ratings even work these days? I know so many people that Tivo or watch this show online. When are the networkds going to figure out that by cancelling a show like this , they will eventually lose ALL their viewers. My whole family sits together to watch this show. It's our one agreed-upon favorite. Kudos to everyone inolved in creating it. If NBC cancels it, please shop it somewhere else. Hell, in my neighborhood we'd be happy to contribute money to have it produced and shown. I MUST KNOW WHAT HAPPENS!

Eliza Wed, Feb 13, 2008 at 01:58 PM EST

This show continues to be real and authentic at a time when so much nonsense is thrown at viewers. Keep this quality show on for all our sakes!

Craig Wed, Feb 13, 2008 at 10:12 AM EST

I would watch an entire channel of Friday Night Lights over NBC. Best show on television. The only show I make sure to watch every week.

Shaun Tue, Feb 12, 2008 at 10:28 PM EST

This show is awesome. DO NOT CANCEL IT.

Cliff Tue, Feb 12, 2008 at 09:27 PM EST

(FNL is the best show on nbc) Believe it or not I was a huge sopranos fan and was waiting on a show to fill that gap I had. FNL did it the writing, acting and directing is up there with the sopranos. the problem is with nbc viewers(not all of them but alot) they want some cheesy show or something to soap opra standards or some stupid fake dramatic reality show that realy is scripted but there not smart enough to realize that. Friday night lights is to good of a show for nbc and alot of its viewers

Jan Tue, Feb 12, 2008 at 06:36 PM EST

Six million people seem like a lot to me but I wouldn't care if I was the only one watching it I would still ask NBC to leave this quality show on. My husband and I can't hardly wait for Friday nights so we can spend an hour in Dillon, Texas. This is one of the best shows we have ever had the pleasure of watching.

Michelle Tue, Feb 12, 2008 at 05:58 PM EST

This is a great show I can think of alot of other stupid shows that could be taken off the air.

TC Tue, Feb 12, 2008 at 04:25 PM EST

This is the BEST show on TV and has a great cast. I agree that if NBC dumps this show, I'm dumping NBC. Hopefully, another network will pick it up quickly if that happens.

Samantha Rue Tue, Feb 12, 2008 at 01:52 PM EST

This show is phenomonal!! If it goes anywhere else, I will definitely follow it.

Paul Tue, Feb 12, 2008 at 01:49 PM EST

If NBC dumps this show, then I'm dumping NBC. I hope another network has the good sense to pick it up.

Paul Tue, Feb 12, 2008 at 01:49 PM EST

Pam Tue, Feb 12, 2008 at 01:44 PM EST

BEST show on TV. Writing is the best. Character development is the best. How can we stop NBC from even thinking about canceling FNL? Needs to be moved from Friday night. I will watch it on any night but would have higher ratings if moved because many people are at high school sporting events on Friday nights!

Cynj Tue, Feb 12, 2008 at 12:01 PM EST

I will follow/watch this show no matter where it goes. I've already got season 1 on DVD and when the next one comes out I'll get that one, too. Keep this show on!!

Vicki Tue, Feb 12, 2008 at 08:57 AM EST

please, please, please renew this show. My daughter and I watch it together. It's by far my favorite show that's ever been on tv!!!

Peter Mon, Feb 11, 2008 at 08:35 PM EST

I, like Buddy, do not know if I can make it through life without my Dillon Panthers. Tim Riggins is on the path of righteousness, Landry finally has the girl of his dreams, Jason is about to become a father of a miracle baby, and Kyle Chandler has not received an Emmy yet for delivering week after week as Coach Taylor. This show is the one show on TV that is on all fours. We can only hope that someone out there gets it, and keeps it on the air.

Renata Mon, Feb 11, 2008 at 08:25 PM EST

It's such an amazing show, with great characters and wonderful stories. It can't be cancelled, we really need FNL!!!

Donna Mon, Feb 11, 2008 at 07:41 PM EST

What a fantastic show. Nothing compares with "Friday Night Lights" these days. Short-sighted TV execs who only care about the almighty dollar are, once again, on the verge of a huge mistake. Restore our faith by doing the right thing!

Sheila Mon, Feb 11, 2008 at 07:13 PM EST

Our family LOVES this show and will follow it to whatever network it goes to. FNL rules!

CJ Mon, Feb 11, 2008 at 07:08 PM EST

I haven't cared so much about a show since the early days of the West Wing. NBC is a network I rarely think to watch, but it's in my mind now because of this show. I hope the network is able to justify continuing the show, since it is truly the very best quality. If not, I will follow Friday Night Lights anywhere, and I very much hope to get the chance. This show is the best thing out there right now, among the strongest field of competing shows I can ever remember. Here's hoping for the best.

Tony Mon, Feb 11, 2008 at 02:45 PM EST

Clear eyes, full hearts, CAN'T LOSE!

Keep FNL on!

Kristy Mon, Feb 11, 2008 at 11:58 AM EST

I ADORE this show. It's the best show on TV now, and maybe even the best show in recent memory. Please, please, please NBC, don't cancel it. But, like many of you, I would also follow this show to any network that were to pick it up. I just need my FNL fix!

Paula Mon, Feb 11, 2008 at 11:08 AM EST

I, too, would glady follow FNL to any network at any time of the day or night. I also would be willing to pay to watch it if I had to.

Andy Mon, Feb 11, 2008 at 10:25 AM EST

Best show on TV. NBC, keep the "Lights" on. Don't cancel Friday Night Lights!

Tina Conetta Mon, Feb 11, 2008 at 07:57 AM EST

Julia Mon, Feb 11, 2008 at 01:23 AM EST

Lets do all we can to save Friday Night Lights! If show's like "Moment of Truth" can stay on the air then FNL deserves much more. Please please send a letter to NBC or join the movement and send lights bulbs. Every little bit could help. Look what happened with Jericho.

Drew Douglas Sun, Feb 10, 2008 at 09:52 PM EST

I really, really, really hope that NBC keeps this show or gives it the courtesy of moving to another network. I think ESPN would be a good fit.

Either way I am following it no matter where it goes. Besides LOST, this is the best written, acted, produced, directed, ect. show on television right now. Losing it would be such a shame, especially after Street finally gets a HUGE storyline going again...

Heidi B Sun, Feb 10, 2008 at 08:22 PM EST

janet Sun, Feb 10, 2008 at 06:59 PM EST

LOVE THE SHOW!!!!! FNL is fabulous and has to stay on the air somewhere. It is so relatable to real life, I forget it's a show. Totally addicted!

Sun, Feb 10, 2008 at 06:57 PM EST

Great show!

Diana Sun, Feb 10, 2008 at 06:40 PM EST

This is possibly the deepest, most real show on television. Please, NBC, renew this outstanding program!

Katie Sun, Feb 10, 2008 at 06:38 PM EST

Being a mother my weekends are not as exciting as the use to be. FNL gave me something to look forward to on Fridays. I would miss it very much if they didn't continue the series.

maryellen Sun, Feb 10, 2008 at 06:12 PM EST

Friday Night Lights is absolutely the best show on television. I never miss an episode. Please keep it on the air.

CLEAR EYES..FULL HEARTS..CAN'T LOSE!! COME ON NBC, WHAT ARE YOU THINKING????

Sun, Feb 10, 2008 at 03:13 PM EST

This is one of the best tv shows on television. I feel like it is doomed by a Friday night time slot. My husband and I are never home at that time, but we ALWAYS DVR it! It is the one show we can both agree to love!

David Freund Sun, Feb 10, 2008 at 02:58 PM EST

Friday Night Light's fans appreciate the quality of entertainment that only great casting and talented writers can deliver. Keep it! Viewers are tired and bored with mindless, pathetic reality shows.

John Sun, Feb 10, 2008 at 02:37 PM EST

This show is critically acclaimed for a reason. The reason it does not have a huge viewership is ENTIRELY due to bad marketing and changing its timeslot. Once it reaches mass audiences they will be ABSOLUTELY hooked. It appeals to ALL KEY DEMOGRAPHICS. DON'T LOSE THIS SHOW, for PROFITS sake as well as that the show is simply amazing.

Morgan Sun, Feb 10, 2008 at 02:36 PM EST

NBC would be crazy, to cancel FNL. I play football, and my whole team watches FNL. I know that I'd pay more to another channel, if NBC won't air FNL anymore. I really don't think that NBC wants a protest on their hands like CBS had last year with the cancellation of "Jericho", but hey that protest worked and "Jericho" is coming back for a second season. Come on NBC, do the right thing and keep FNL.

Jennifer Sun, Feb 10, 2008 at 01:46 PM EST

I will follow FNL anytime any channel.
It has become the only television show I look forward to each week.

Stephen Sun, Feb 10, 2008 at 01:23 PM EST

FNL is one of the best shows out there. I've been a fan since day one but if they aren't going to have any football and instead have us watch volleyball then cancel the show.

Barb Sun, Feb 10, 2008 at 12:17 PM EST

The absolute best show on TV. Please, executives. DO THE RIGHT THING. Just this once, and keep this show on the air. Somewhere. Anywhere. We need this!

Julie Sun, Feb 10, 2008 at 12:16 PM EST

Take it from a tv connoisseur, this is the BEST show on television....Don't cancel it!

Chris Sun, Feb 10, 2008 at 11:41 AM EST

Here's an idea, fans of the show should go to NBC.com and play an episode of FNL every time you are online. The network makes money from that.

Chris Sun, Feb 10, 2008 at 11:39 AM EST

One of the best shows on TV, especially on NBC. So they will cancel this and yet air "My Dad Is Better Than Your Dad?" Quality TV is hard to come by, it's amazing when the networks take a giant crap all over their shows that are actually good. I realize TV is business, but doesn't FNL filming away from LA in Austin make it more affordable to produce.

Sun, Feb 10, 2008 at 10:33 AM EST

NBC or any other networks NEEDS to keep this show on the air. I am sick of great shows being cancelled like American Dreams was. This show is wonderful, keep it on!

Taylor Sun, Feb 10, 2008 at 04:19 AM EST

I would turn on every TV in my house just to get the FNL ratings up! Honestly the writers strike has gone on so long that they could have trained 1st graders to write TV shows..FNL is the BEST show on Tv...no mater what the ratings say...I love it, and it is the one show that is actually appropriate and intertaining to people under the age of 16
What happened to all the good TV shows out their???

By the way, this is the BEST LOOKING cast on any television show--EVER! Why doesn't NBC capitalize on that?

WRC Sun, Feb 10, 2008 at 03:15 AM EST

This show is awesome! Chandler, Britton, and Kitsch were robbed of Emmys this year (as was the show, in general). I will follow this show anywhere, anytime. I will pay extra for HBO or Showtime, etc. if need be. Monday morning, I will be mailing a bottle of "Clear Eyes" and a package of light bulbs to the brass at NBC!

CLEAR EYES, FULL HEARTS, CAN'T LOSE!!!

Mandy Sun, Feb 10, 2008 at 02:34 AM EST

Pat Sun, Feb 10, 2008 at 12:54 AM EST

This is a awesome show! Hopefully, NBC will take the risk to keep a real winner of a show. It goes with out saying but just by the number of comments on this web page the executives should be pretty impressed. How do they really know who is watching when and how many with all the different techical ways to watch a show these days.

NBC PLEASE KEEP FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS! IT MAKES MY DAY AFTER A LONG HARD WEEK!

Jamie Sat, Feb 9, 2008 at 11:52 PM EST

People - send NBC a lightbulb!!! I read somewhere that there is a national motion to send them a lightbulb in protest to keep it on. If they cancel it, I will never watch NBC again!!!

kristi Sat, Feb 9, 2008 at 11:31 PM EST

Absolutely one of the best shows my husband and I have ever watched. At first I thought it would be just about Football but it is about so much more. Each character is great in their own way, I love the relationships and how they deal with life. So sad if it gets cancelled. I feel like it should be a 2 hour show. One hour flies by because it is so entertaning.

Kelly Sat, Feb 9, 2008 at 11:28 PM EST

Please don't cancel this is one show that we enjoy watching. With all the crappy reality shows its hard to find some good shows to watch. Keep FNL.

Anj Sat, Feb 9, 2008 at 10:58 PM EST

I love this show and would be devastated if last night was the night...the lights went out. Why aren't people watching this show?? Good taste is definitely dead when people would rather watch the endless hours of mind numbing reality t.v.
I will watch any channel, the show must go on!!!! Please make sure it is a channel that will show in Canada though...please!!!

Mary Sat, Feb 9, 2008 at 10:48 PM EST

This show is one of the best shows on tv. I will watch this show on any network. Please keep it going!!!

Sharon Harry Sat, Feb 9, 2008 at 10:05 PM EST

Please, we need to do whatever it takes to keep this show on. It's one of the very few shows my family enjoys....I am so upset that there is talk it may not return. It's by far one of the best written shows in recent seasons. Wherever it goes, I will definitely follow.

jan russell Sat, Feb 9, 2008 at 09:30 PM EST

Please renew and continue this series! It is one of the best I've seen--good casting, interesting story lines, character developement that keeps the viewer wanting to know more. Please don't take a good show off the air to be replaced by another reality show or something more mundane. Thanks!

Felicia Sat, Feb 9, 2008 at 09:27 PM EST

Friday Night Lights must stay on air. It is a great show.

Adam Sat, Feb 9, 2008 at 09:20 PM EST

I will follow the show anywhere. It's reassuring to see so many people that will fight for this show. Let's not let this show get cancelled.

J Byrne Sat, Feb 9, 2008 at 08:04 PM EST

It is the best show on TV. I never feel compelled to write about any TV show, but this is a fabulous little show. What is it with people? The Moment of Truth makes the top 10 in ratings?? Good taste is dead.

Wendy Sat, Feb 9, 2008 at 08:02 PM EST

This show has just been discovered by my family and we are hooked! Please don't cancel this amazing drama.

Alex Sat, Feb 9, 2008 at 07:38 PM EST

I hope they don't kill FNL. Best tv-drama ever produced!!!

Lauren Sat, Feb 9, 2008 at 06:47 PM EST

I can't imagine after two seasons of FNL going what life would be like without it... I can only hope that NBC cares one iota about the show and its fans and does the right thing.

karen Sat, Feb 9, 2008 at 05:46 PM EST

This is by far the best show on television. Why am I the only one watching? Absolute junk manages to stay around for years, but quality programming can barely keep its head above water. Perhaps the problem is that it is so character-driven. Viewers are not taking the time to get to know the characters. Having an understanding of the history of the characters would help new viewers to appreciate plot developments. This is the first show that I have actually memorized the name of each and every regular character. This show cannot be cancelled!

sandi Sat, Feb 9, 2008 at 05:17 PM EST

This is the best show on TV. Please DO NOT CANCEL

Monika Sat, Feb 9, 2008 at 04:56 PM EST

FNL is the best show on NBC right now (closely followed by Office) and it is the best thing on TV! I hope that NBC sees the light and keeps the show but if i'm correct Freaks and Geeks was on NBC and they cancelled that brilliant show. I hope the show find a new home because NBC doesn't know what they have!
Clear Eyes, Full Hearts, Can't Lose!

lady Sat, Feb 9, 2008 at 04:36 PM EST

scott Sat, Feb 9, 2008 at 04:34 PM EST

It is one of the best shows on TV and if nbc lets it go i hope another channel picks it up. I would even subscribe to any of the movie channels if they pick it up.

coop Sat, Feb 9, 2008 at 04:08 PM EST

I have to watch online due to the Friday night time slot, but I WATCH EVERY WEEK.

As long as there are real human moments and it keeps to it's (FNL-Odessa, TX) roots not relocating it's zip to 90210 or the OC,
I'll keep tuning in.

Robin Sat, Feb 9, 2008 at 04:04 PM EST

Regarding the request to sign the petition to save FNL (posted Feb. 7 by Joanne). This petition is very poorly worded and has terrible syntax and grammar. I appreciate your passion for this show -- I, too, am a huge fan and would be terribly disappointed if it is cancelled -- but the petition needs to be improved if it is to have any bite. I did read on one site about fans sending light bulbs to NBC brass to encourage the renewal of FNL. ("Keep the Lights On!") It worked for Jericho, maybe it'll work for FNL! Here's that info: Ben Silverman c/o NBC Studios, 3000 W. Alameda Ave., Burbank, CA 91523.

Terry Sat, Feb 9, 2008 at 04:03 PM EST

FNL is our favorite program. With all the crime shows on now, it's a real treat to see a family type show..KEEP FNL ON..I don't care where they move it, just keep it on the air.

NBC never gave this show a chance. They should have run more repeats of the first season while the strike was on. I think viewers would have been hooked and would have stuck around for the second season. Lot of people don't watch because they think they wouldn't understand the show w/o the background of the first season.

ron Sat, Feb 9, 2008 at 03:09 PM EST

there is no way in hell you can even think of getting rid of this show. this is by far the best show out there ever loves it! they probally should of never moved the time from wed cause they where killing the ratings, i beg you guys not to get rid of this show. this is my favorite show of all times

missusmac Sat, Feb 9, 2008 at 02:55 PM EST

I watch this show. My 50-year-old husband watches this show. My 20-year-old daughter watches this show. My 17-year-old daughter watches this show. My 13-year-old son watches this show. What more do you need for advertising demographics, NBC? Oh, yeah, even he dog is in the room when we watch this show. I could work on getting the cat into the room too! Will that save the show?

Seriously, I think there were people who didn't know there were new episodes on during the writer's strike. Lots of folks stopped watching TV, period. NBC should be taking that into consideration. If they don't, then they are simply showing yet again why they deserve to trail in the network wars.

Cathy Sat, Feb 9, 2008 at 02:34 PM EST

I read a few of the previous posts. I take issue with the one that said that this show is for teenagers. I am in my 50s and I LOVE this show. NBC, please look at all of the posts on this site. You would be foolish to let this one go.

I love this show so much!

kristine Sat, Feb 9, 2008 at 02:20 PM EST

I have been a fan since the start! America needs this show!!

Lindsay Sat, Feb 9, 2008 at 02:07 PM EST

If it is renewed and put on another channel, I will still watch it.

This show is way too awesome to be taken away. And if NBC does take it away, it'll show how ignorant they are.

tammy Sat, Feb 9, 2008 at 01:42 PM EST

This is the best drama series on television. I DVR it every Friday and watch it first thing Saturday morning. I will follow the lights wherever they are shining!!

AJ Sat, Feb 9, 2008 at 01:28 PM EST

I will watch FNL whenever..where ever. The is a wonderful television program and it would be a huge shame if NBC cancels it.

Scott Sat, Feb 9, 2008 at 01:23 PM EST

A wonderful show that shouldn't even be considered for cancellation! Peter Berg should try to get Kevin Dillon to join the cast as his brother. To me, they look & sound so much alike it's eerie. Kevin Dillon as a Dillon Panther alumnus!! hmmm

Sat, Feb 9, 2008 at 01:16 PM EST

The show needs to stay on air. The producers and writers have done an exceptional job giving accurate accounts of athletics and life encounters in many generations of life. They have developed the characters beautifully and the viewer can't help but attach themselves to the actors and actresses. I believe this is one of the best shows that has been on television.

Kelly Sat, Feb 9, 2008 at 01:08 PM EST

LOVE the show and will follow it anywhere... I will need prozac if they take it off the air!!!

Lori Sat, Feb 9, 2008 at 12:06 PM EST

Please keep this show on the air. This is a really great show that my family and I love to watch.

Lindsay Sat, Feb 9, 2008 at 11:50 AM EST

I don't understand why NBC would even think of cancelling it when there is so much support and so many viewers watching the show. Is 6.1 MILLION not enough?? I will recruit my entire college campus if that's what it will take to keep it on! Please do not cancel FNL, it is a solid bonding time that my Dad and I share. Please don't take that away!

stan paulis Sat, Feb 9, 2008 at 11:18 AM EST

One of the greatest TV shows of all time. Riveting drama. If NBC cancels this show, ESPN might be a natural to continue the series.

Melissa Sat, Feb 9, 2008 at 11:11 AM EST

Best show on TV. Don't take it away from us. I really care about the characters from Gracie Bell to Matt's grandma. Don't cancel it. Riggs is the hottest guy on TV. I agree with Blue above.

Sharon Gillison Sat, Feb 9, 2008 at 11:01 AM EST

If I could only see one show a week it would be FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS.

John Madden Sat, Feb 9, 2008 at 10:30 AM EST

Cut costs, shouldn't 6.1 million viewers be enough, this is entertaining and a good quality show with good messages....Let's get it renewed or off to another network. The Dillon Panthers have more seasons to play!

Tim Sat, Feb 9, 2008 at 10:24 AM EST

Ya know, This is the one show that we as a family look forward to watch each week, My wife, My kids (teenagers), popcorn, WE ALL sit down togather and wtach and talk about it, Heck, we actually are asking each other question about what we think will hapen the next week. Good time and good feelings generated in our home with this show. Why would the network even consider removing or changing a FAMILY show?

Blue Sat, Feb 9, 2008 at 08:51 AM EST

CBS knows how to keep a good show on the air.

Blue Sat, Feb 9, 2008 at 08:34 AM EST

This is my favorite show. My family's favorite show. We get so absorbed in it, we want the episodes to not stop.. We love the characters.

People: Watch this show! It's the very best ever. It's authentic. It's perfect. Executives: Don't make a mistake and stop producing this show.

Tim Riggins: One of the top 3 hottest guys in TV. (Shemar Moore, Criminal Minds & Michael Scofield, Prison Break, the other 2).
Coach Taylor: We need more men like him. He always has an answer and does the right thing, and looks very hot while doing it.
Julie, Tyra: Fave girls.
Gotta love Jason. It's fabulous for people who are handicapped to have representation.
Matt: So uh uh responsible with his grandma. Where else do you see that? Matt uh always uh uh speaks in stuttering stacattos.
Landry...you know, they're just all great. The list is endless.

We love this show. Period. Bottom line: The world will be a better place to continue with this show. And that's not a bad thing.

Celia Sat, Feb 9, 2008 at 08:15 AM EST

I missed the first few episodes because I thought the show was another teen drama. Home sick I caught the first few episodes online and realized, I was so damn wrong, this is in fact, THE BEST MULTI-GENERATIONAL DRAMA on TV.

That said, maybe the best thing for the show would be to move it to another network where it can have a fresh start with proper promotion.

I would follow this show anywhere and watch it 'LIVE' anytime of the day or night!

Jen Sat, Feb 9, 2008 at 07:55 AM EST

PLEASE don't cancel this show! It is a great show. Clear Eyes, Full hearts, Can't Cancel!

Briz Sat, Feb 9, 2008 at 07:52 AM EST

I am shocked that NBC is thinking of taking this show off the air. I is about the only show I watch (not only on NBC, but on TV period). The story lines are exceptionally well written with fast turns and surprises. The actors are all VERY good and the show perfectly uses multi-nationalites. When has NBC even attempted to promote it?? like the trash they had on Thursday (Lipstick Jungle) which I watched once and never will again. Someone seriously needs to wake up at NBC.

Tricia Sat, Feb 9, 2008 at 07:46 AM EST

DON'T CANCEL THIS SHOW!!! Are you out of your minds??
This is quality television!!!!
Please think seriously about doing this. I am constantly telling people to watch it. You don't promote it enough!!!!!!

Adrian Sat, Feb 9, 2008 at 04:46 AM EST

I love this show I have been watching it every week since episode 1 premiered. Its 4:35am I just finished watching episode 37 and I did not see any previews for next weeks episode. So I look on the web for when episode 38 will air only to find out their might not be anymore episodes. I really hope a great show like this one does not end, especially with no explanation of the characters futures. I love this show so please NBC keep the show alive.

Chriss Sat, Feb 9, 2008 at 04:34 AM EST

I don't get it...if there are other networks that are eager to take over this show, why is there any mulling over over whether to cancel?!

I'm watching it online b/c I don't own a TV--but I will get one just to watch this one show.

Michelle Sat, Feb 9, 2008 at 04:32 AM EST

I will never forgive NBC if they cancel this gem of a show. It and the cast are nothing short of amazing and deserve to stay on the air.

Julia Sat, Feb 9, 2008 at 03:45 AM EST

I agree with all the below comments. I will follow FNL anywhere, anytime, and at any cost. It's so hard to find real quality television these days and Friday Night Lights is as good as TV gets. I watch with my entire family on TIVO from the age of 13 to 53. I can't say that about any other show on TV now or in the past. Keep the lights on!

Jennifer Sat, Feb 9, 2008 at 03:33 AM EST

Friday Night Lights is one of only a few really well done dramas on tv at this point. The writing, directing, and acting are pitch perfect. It's a gem! I'm so tired of using the lowest common denominator - ratings - to inform the exectutives. Friday Night lights needs to stay on because it's really good. Friday night is a very challenging time slot. The rest of the stuff on at that time is crap. I don't care if it's only number 3. Could some quality shows ever be allowed to remain just because they deserve to.

Eza Sat, Feb 9, 2008 at 02:50 AM EST

this is quite possibly one of - if not the - best show on TV. My friends and I are in our mid 20's - ear;y 30's and we are addicted!! Please don't cancel this show and please please please write more episodes!!

Josh Sat, Feb 9, 2008 at 02:15 AM EST

FNL is such a great show! Sure, there have been a few kinks in season 2, but even with the kinks, FNL is still one of the best television shows on TV. NBC, PLEASE. Don't cancel it!

Lydia Sat, Feb 9, 2008 at 01:56 AM EST

Everything about this show is fantastic. It it does not get renewed it will be a total shame.

RBlues Sat, Feb 9, 2008 at 01:52 AM EST

I know it's already been mentioned, but some people can't read all of the posts. Please send a bottle of "Clear Eyes" to the idiots at NBC.

Clear Eyes, Full Hearts, Can't Lose-This Show!

Please leave it on. Its a really good show.

Samantha Sat, Feb 9, 2008 at 12:27 AM EST

This is one one the BEST shows on television. The acting, the writing, the gorgeous cast, the whole vibe of this show are fabulous. My friends and I have our ritual "FNL" viewing parties and when we heard that this show might not be staying on the air we were PISSED!!!
This show is way better than our next favorite show "Gossip Girl" and it shoulds at least receive the same type of network love.
Please keep it alive, it deserves a good time slot, it deserves to be seen.

linda cole Sat, Feb 9, 2008 at 12:01 AM EST

Just two weeks ago, our family discovered "Friday Night Lights"- GREAT PROGRAM!!! NBC has made some bad choices, however, letting go of "Friday Night Lights" would be one of the worst decisions to evolve in this Network yet. All ages can appreciate the struggles, humor and fantastic writing for each episode. Please consider going forward. Good television programs are difficult to find these days.

thank you,

Lynzyloooo

TerryB Fri, Feb 8, 2008 at 11:52 PM EST

Why can't the network suits recognize QUALITY entertainment???? FNL is a show with great characters, plots, and values. Please keep it on network TV!!!

Lynn Shea Fri, Feb 8, 2008 at 11:49 PM EST

Bob Fri, Feb 8, 2008 at 11:39 PM EST

Seriously, NBC. You're in 4th. This show is in 3rd. Which one's the problem?

If next year's new offerings will be anything like this year's, you're better off staying with this show. Even if it somehow doesn't pick up viewership, I've got $1 that says it does better than Journeyman did. And that you dumped less money on it than the Bionic Woman. Unless you have some magic waiting in the wings (unlikely considered network history, current offerings, and the strike), STAND BY THIS SHOW.

kim laborde Fri, Feb 8, 2008 at 11:16 PM EST

I LOVE THIS SHOW!!!!! I watch it online since I am unable to watch it on tv on friday nights. This is one of the best shows on tv and I would follow it to any network.

Love this show. My favorite. Would be a total disappointment if it did not stay on the air. Thumbs up to a totally entertaining show.

MM Fri, Feb 8, 2008 at 10:56 PM EST

Deena Kuranda Fri, Feb 8, 2008 at 10:52 PM EST

I can't figure out why this show isn't drawing more of an audience. This is far and away the best show on TV. It deals with more issues and scenarios in a tasteful way than other shows. I guess if it was all about rich white kids from California it would do well. If it were trashier it would be on Fox.

Allen Ayres Fri, Feb 8, 2008 at 10:32 PM EST

Our family's favorite show on TV, please keep it going.

I am 50 and have watched this show since its inception. Easily among the best written and directed shows in many years. It would be a shame to see it go away when absolute crap gets re-upped every year.

Marilyn Fri, Feb 8, 2008 at 10:19 PM EST

It's the best show on TV.

Entertainment. Advertise all of us spread the word.

Kelly Fri, Feb 8, 2008 at 09:58 PM EST

It would be ridiculous to cancel such a good show when so many on tv can not compete. All of my friends tune in and we look forward to the next episode. Please don't cancel.

mike Fri, Feb 8, 2008 at 09:14 PM EST

This is the show I most look forward to watching every week. The writing, acting, directing; all first rate. I also like the fact that at least two of the actors were in the FNL movie. Please, NBC, do not cancel my favorite show!

Tommy Fri, Feb 8, 2008 at 08:58 PM EST

This show is great television. There are other shows that capture my attention but this is the only show that I really enjoy watching.

lisa Chiappetta Fri, Feb 8, 2008 at 08:37 PM EST

Please don't cancel this show. This is best show on TV. My family and friends all watch Friday Night Lights.

Sandie Fri, Feb 8, 2008 at 08:26 PM EST

Please, please keep this on. This year was a crazy year for TV. Is a show on and is it a new episode. So you really can't judge viewers because of these circumstances. This is a wonderful show with a wonderful cast. Please don't cancel. It really needs another chance. It gives us something to look forward to.

Brad Fri, Feb 8, 2008 at 08:24 PM EST

Why would you have FNL on at the 9:00 slot on Friday night? Most people who are interested in this show are probably out watching highschool football on Friday nights. The young people who I would imagine to be a big part of the audience are at these games or playing in them. I will definitely follow this show to the next network. I believe this is the best show in the air, definitely the best one on NBC. I got an idea. GET RID OF THE CELEBRITY APPRENTICE!!!

Cami Fri, Feb 8, 2008 at 08:05 PM EST

This is an excellent show. I am a 45-year old mom of 2 teenage boys. This show needs to stay on -- give it more time to catch on now that football season is over.

Holli Fri, Feb 8, 2008 at 06:54 PM EST

I found this show by accident(b/c it sure isn't promoted) about month ago and fell in love. By far one of the best dramas on network TV. Promote it & put it on a better night. Once people watch, they will be hooked. Thurs, nights would be a great spot for it. Once I hear that tired old ER theme I can't change the channel fast enough. That show was on when I was in college; now I am married in my mid-30s with 3 kids, time to put it to rest. SAVE FNL!!!

Mary Anne Fri, Feb 8, 2008 at 06:53 PM EST

FNL is so well written and performed; what a joy to watch. Put it on another network if need be but... please keep it on the air!

Mary Anne Fri, Feb 8, 2008 at 06:53 PM EST

DJ Fri, Feb 8, 2008 at 06:42 PM EST

I gave up hope. This has been the best news all week!

Marjorie Lewis Fri, Feb 8, 2008 at 06:14 PM EST

Far and away the best show on TV!! And yeah, keeping (non)Celebrity Apprentice and canceling FNL is a travesty. Sign the petition on this message board and keep the show on the air, any network is fine with me.

FNL rules! Fri, Feb 8, 2008 at 06:08 PM EST

You know what's crazy? NBC practically paid people to watch pilots of their new shows this year. Seriously, if you missed the Chuck pilot, you were on another planet. And that strategy still did nothing for Journeyman. To NBC's credit, they did throw season 1 of FNL on dvd and price it really cheaply. But why couldn't they throw an episode or 2 on the same dvds they were offering at Blockbuster? Only 1 pre-season FNL marathon on Bravo? Ridiculously considering how many times that channel reruns Project Runway marathons. And it was on a Friday during daytime hours when kids were in schools and most adults were at work. Come on! It's not getting easier to promote in its 3rd season. NBC needs to drop some bucks on promoting it for the Emmy's and other high profile awards. This show is certainly better than Grey's Anatomy.

Karen Fri, Feb 8, 2008 at 05:59 PM EST

Friday Night Lights is one of the best shows on TV. It's a quality show. Please don't cancel it.

Lee Fri, Feb 8, 2008 at 05:51 PM EST

This show is the best on TV. Great story, great cast. With all the reality crap on TV, it's good to see some decent drama for a change.

Kristy Fri, Feb 8, 2008 at 05:41 PM EST

This is "THE BEST SHOW" on the air today....Please keep the season's rolling. I know many of my friends gather around the TV on Friday nights to watch this program. I love the setting as well as the plots. Very well-written program. Please do what you can to keep this show on the air.

bonnie earley Fri, Feb 8, 2008 at 05:37 PM EST

FNL is an awesome show. I do, however, think it has been a mistake to air this on Friday nights. Although lots of adults watch the show (I'm 40 years old) I do believe it would be watched more by teens if moved to another night.

caitlin dauscher Fri, Feb 8, 2008 at 05:35 PM EST

This is a very good show. Me n my friends watch it every friday and if it gets taken off, theres nothing good to watch on fridays, so why take it off?
PLEASE KEEP IT ON!!!

leslie warren Fri, Feb 8, 2008 at 05:07 PM EST

Cancelling one of the most brilliantly executed programs on tv would be ludicrous. I can't imagine what makes NBC considering such. This is truly a great show, extremely entertaining, very well written, great acting....one of the best ever on TV. When there's so much 'garbage' out there, please don't cancel this gem!

Rachel Fri, Feb 8, 2008 at 05:07 PM EST

I love this show! please do not take it off the air! It's amazing i stay home every Friday night and call my friends up so we can all watch it together! We love this show do not take it off!

I like this show, i don't know why T.V. stations are taking off all of the shows that have related issues with people and they can get ideas on how to help themselves. this show is very well created and I woul
