Amy Winehouse Can Come To Grammys Now ... But She Won't

Amywinehousestill_l Today the U.S. embassy reversed its decision and granted Amy Winehouse a visa so the Brit singer could attend this Sunday's Grammy Awards, a Grammy insider tells EW.com. Unfortunately, the controversial artist has decided to stay put in the U.K. "Logistically, it's too late for her to fly to the U.S. and rehearse to perform," says the insider. "She will still perform via satellite." Winehouse is up for multiple Grammys including album and record of the year and best new artist. She will perform her hit song "Rehab" and will accept her award via satellite if she wins. The singer, known for her alleged drug abuse and seemingly erratic behavior, entered a rehab facility two weeks ago.

I think you all need to listen to real music ~ not this popular garbage that is force fed to you.

Try lisening to the legendary Kate Bush and hear just how bad these female singers are today ~ and she writes and performs her own music as well !

This country is in need of some serious culture~ try listening to some classical music or jazz once every now and then ! !

Ok, the Grammys are about MUSIC. That's it. You can't withhold awards to "teach these bad drug addicts a lesson." She has a problem that she needs to deal with. She actually did go to rehab recently. She made a great album, and that's what it's about. You're worried about your kids looking up to people like that? Then teach them the difference between right and wrong. It's not the music industry's responsibility to raise your kids.

Amy has a fantastic voice, and she actually writes most of the music too. There is no comparison with someone like Britney who is manufactured by the American music industry.

There is no way that Amy Winehouse could win a Grammy over the talents and integrity of all other great artists participating. This selection
brings out frustration and disapointment on the Grammy Organization.

I don't think she is that great. She has a major drug problem, and that is all she should be focusing on now. All the praising for her and winning all those grammys isn't going to help. She will go on thinking about how well she is succeeding even though she has this drug problem. I don't think that will help her with any kind of sobriety.

I think is so sad that our young people of today have the likes of Amy Winehouse and Brittany Spears, and Kanya West bad mouth rap music out there today Its not okay to honor people with awards that have made public drug problems and use such vulgar langage, and so sad Amy writes her own songs and they are about rehab give them awards when they clean up there act. Why do people have to use so much bad language in songs.....I watch the grammys because everything else was reruns. I would have rather watched reruns.

If you guys knew how manipulative and what liars the great british press are, instead of being obsessed with drugs=bad. Amy Winehouse has never been a role model for young girls, who are connived that brit-pop-manufactured bands are their aspirations. Good on you Amy,this womans honestly in song is on par with another great Janis Joplin. Any demented person want to make a comment about how Janis died of drugs?! Go Amy you are much loved and admired by the majority rather than these pious bible bashers

misty Mon, Feb 11, 2008 at 11:03 AM EST

oh and sally - britney is the epitome of white trash - flashing her crotch every chance she gets. acting a damn fool in front of her kids. please -

misty Mon, Feb 11, 2008 at 11:00 AM EST

Amy is an amazing talent. She has fallen into a bad place - but looks like she might make it out. Britney had no talent to begin with - just good looks and lots of technology.

Dmack11 Mon, Feb 11, 2008 at 10:27 AM EST

I predicted that you would get best new artist. Just get clean Amy and do it again next year. My prayers are with you.

Fan Mon, Feb 11, 2008 at 10:21 AM EST

Amy Winehouse: 1. Writes her own music. 2. Has such a unique voice and sound. 3. IS such an interesting performer, definitely fun to watch. 4. Her album is fantistic! Yeah she has a drug problem, but she's not out showing her butt everywhere she goes and being pulled out of places in a stretcher. That's what I meant by going Britney, completely losing it. She doesn't have kids she neglects. Her hubby's in Jail and she's upset. She still went out there and performed. I give her props for that.

Amy Winehouse is A talented artist..Definately "Grammy worthy". Just what the music industry needs..a unique style of singing mixed with a little bit of controversy.

Bobby Mon, Feb 11, 2008 at 07:36 AM EST

RON you are a total tool and you might read and try learning some things. WHAT is the definition of irregardless the word is regardless.
And what Hollywood hipe she's a U.K. girl.

RM Mon, Feb 11, 2008 at 06:50 AM EST

I tuned in for a few minutes and saw Amy perform...it rocks my world that this girl won anything? She looked like she had more than a drug problem! So many good songs and performers today...I am sickened that she was even in the running. Another example of media hype making people pay attention to the bad things

Damon Mon, Feb 11, 2008 at 03:25 AM EST

WEll "Sally in Chicago" Any Winwhouse won a staggering five Grammy awards tonight. Where, oh where was Britney? Winehouse in a shy girl, with extraordinary talent. It seems you know nothing about her.

Ron Mon, Feb 11, 2008 at 02:27 AM EST

Amy "WHINEhouse" wow what trash she can't sing at all compared to the others up for best song and best female singer etc. boy I have never seen so much hype for a talentless singer like her. Irregardless of her drug issues she just doesn't have any talent at all as a matter of fact when I first heard the song Rehab I thought that the singing was terrible. She is another example of the hype that comes out of Hollywood, junk pure junk!!

JZ Sun, Feb 10, 2008 at 11:44 PM EST

I actually think that Amy Winehouse is very talented. Yes it is a shame that she has a drug problem, but it is not up to us to shove it in her face. Let her have her moment in the spot-light. As for comparing Britney Spears and Amy Winehouse; well thats just a whole other topic which really has no comparisons.

Jeff Sun, Feb 10, 2008 at 05:59 PM EST

To Sally:
Let me guess. You are 21 and actually BELIEVE Britney has talent! I don't think you would know talent if it bit you in the...

CMU Sun, Feb 10, 2008 at 04:22 PM EST

Jeez, Sally. Simmer down. She actually is very talented, as far as I and millions of others are concerned. Britney has descended into severe mental breakdown. Amy Winehouse does, indeed, have a drug problem, but so do a lot of people, particularly in the entertainment industry. It's a shame, but it happens. Charlie Parker had a ridiculous drug problem, but that doesn't change the fact that he was a great musician. Let's separate talent and personal issues.

Sally in Chicago Sun, Feb 10, 2008 at 09:10 AM EST

To FAN: You are insane...she has gone BEYOND BRITNEY....she's an extroverted drug addict and a scrawny looking white trash singer....Not talented at all...has no morals, no decency. I like "talented" artists that stand for something. She's worse than a train wreck.

Fan Sat, Feb 9, 2008 at 12:44 PM EST

Love her!!! Hope she never goes Britney on us. Way too talented.
