Will 'According to Jim' return for another season?

Accordingtojim_l Jim Belushi may not have to clean out his dressing room just yet. EW.com has learned that ABC is considering whether to pick up According to Jim for an eighth season. Though the show isn't exactly breaking Nielsen records (its five telecasts this winter have averaged only 5.3 million viewers), the show has value in syndication and an extra season can only boost the company coffers. ABC declined to comment.

Michael Myers...Jason Vorhees..."According to Jim"...all nightmares that just refuse to be killed.

Everwood, Arrested Development, Veronica Mars, maybe Friday Night Lights are cancelled while this goes for Eight years!! It's like roaches surviving the end of the world.

Jesus ! Who watch this c... ??

Why will they bring this show back? It should have been off the air years ago....like "King of Queens", I fail to see what appeals to people in this type of show. Shows how bad American taste in television and entertainment can be. Does us a favor, and put the show out of its (and our) misery!

Edie Tue, Feb 26, 2008 at 08:57 PM EST

It's so unfair ! Save FNL, 30 Rock, Breaking Bad, Medium and other good series !

I thought that networks didn't care about syndication and only producers care because that's how they get their money back.

Is this news even worth mentioning? Please write up something about how How I Met Your Mother may not make it! Methinks that is a show that would actually be missed...

The show has been in off-network syndication for two years. There is really no need to make more episodes. Since the program is produced by Disney and the network is owned by Disney, and the show is syndicated by Disney... well, it all adds up. "According to Jim" is enough case to bring back the fin-syn rules (which barred the networks from the syndication business.)

When I saw the headline, my first thought was "I didn't know According to Jim was STILL on the air."

The show is what the show is - just a silly show that's a mindless half hour - nothing wrong with that. No one's ever called it a great show but it isn't terrible either. A lot of people hype up stuff like Arrested Development to be the end all be all, but in reality that was a show that people just took to be way more sophisticated than it really was. There are worse things than this show to watch.

I LOVE According To Jim.Obviously I'm in the minority here. Please ABC make season 8 a reality!!

JRock Wed, Feb 27, 2008 at 10:54 AM EST

I'm a fan. It's a funny show, period. Go Jim!

rubytoo Wed, Feb 27, 2008 at 12:18 PM EST

Ok WHAT THE HECK - this crappy show gets renewed when Friday Night Lights might not- I know they are two different networks but MY GOD FNL is one of the best shows I have ever seen , written and acted. Do they thing we are stupid so we have to watch stupid shows like this...PLULEEZE !!!!!

Mark Wed, Feb 27, 2008 at 12:52 PM EST

I really like this show. One of the few 'comedies' that actually makes me laugh.

bud Wed, Feb 27, 2008 at 01:52 PM EST

It may be lowbrow and not "sophisticated" enough for some but my family loves it. What's wrong with an old fashioned slapstick family comedy?

Jenna Wed, Feb 27, 2008 at 02:20 PM EST

Please, dear God, no!

Many of us like comedy that is not offensive, that our children can watch, without unnecessary sex, cruelty, or bullies. Too many comedies today feel "funny" is sexual inuendo, put-downs, and insults. FNL is a completely different venue whick frankly stopped being about football on Friday nights and started being about how much sex teenagers have, how much they drink, and how much drugs they take. Oh great, another prime example of "life" at your local high school. Give us a couple of shows our "kids" can watch, please.

This season has been horrible. I didn't realize how much Courtney Thorne-Smith brought to the show until I saw the episodes without her.

If they can get her back and get the writers to bring the zingers, it'll be good to have another season to make up for this one.

LOVE THIS SHOW!!!! KEEP IT ON THE AIR ! LOTS OF FAMILIES ENJOY THIS HUMOR.

chris Thu, Feb 28, 2008 at 09:13 AM EST

I like this show. These posts show how little people know. You act like ABC can save NBC's 30 Rock. Dont blame ABC, blame NBC for its own crappy show

carole Thu, Feb 28, 2008 at 10:18 AM EST

I like According to Jim as well. It's funny. What's wrong with that?

Alan Sat, May 3, 2008 at 05:39 PM EST

I think... No, I KNOW "According To Jim" deserves another season. What's wrong with you people. Are you THAT upidity that you can't enjoy humor or a good sitcom. I mean what's wrong with enjoying simple comedy that you just sit down & enjoy.

Margaret Sparks Sun, May 4, 2008 at 04:43 AM EST

I really enjoy According to Jim. I want it to continue... however, it can't keep going without the mom, Courtny Thorne-Smith. I don't know how she could be replaced... I hope the network thinks of something. I read that she doesn't want to return.
