Great news, now he can go back to making his music his way. He did it before and those albums are great. They were written and produced by Taylor. He was promoting those CDs at his concerts, that money goes into his pocket, not Clives!!! YAY!!!!!!

If it were up to the record companies and popular radio we'd all be listening to Umbrella-ella-ella songs and Underwood/Daughtry schlock 24/7. Since buying Hicks' first two independent albums and looking into his musical interests I've discovered Blues, Soul, and southern rock. LOL @ the people that think that being dropped from a record label is a positive thing for a musician! Sorry, but there's nothing positive about it! The truth is, Taylor didn't want to get rid of the label, the label wanted to get rid of Taylor because his music SUCKS and no one wants to buy it. The Soul Patrol are always going on about how many copies of his CD they buy each week, so it's the same delusional fans that have been buying it every week for months now, which is the only reason his sales haven't hit ZERO yet, but they're so close to it. I see the posts about how Taylor is now "free", but the only thing he's free to do now is continue his career as a MALL SINGER. I hope he enjoys selling CD's out of his trunk, because if he's pays to make another independent one, that's where they'll be sold from, unless he sells them at a flea market as well! I think this is awesome news. I feel that it is a record company's job to promote your talent and do what you can to make sure that his music is played on radio.

J Records did a big disservice to Taylor (and Ruben). Taylor Hicks is a much more intelligent promoter than J Records could ever hope to be. He will be recording the music that has been selling at his concerts.

Good luck to Taylor Hicks. It is about time that the musicians let the bean counters know that they are smarter about music than the record producers.

Her first album went DOUBLE platinum and the second went GOLD. She has also has had an award winning stint on Broadway. That sounds like success to me. You are supposed to be a news magazine writer, correct? Not a speculative rag? If so, then please verify whether or not this news is true rather than posing it as a question. Tell us why they would drop someone who placed #7 last year in worldwide sales. Explain the business decision behind dropping someone who had two successful tours and who is building on a solid fan base. If this story is true, it will possibly work to Taylor's benefit since they did not support him or promote him from the very beginning. But, don't just sit there and speculate about something that could potentially harm someone's career. That is not responsible journalism. From reading your past articles, I know you're not a huge Taylor fan, but I can't believe that you want to harm him. Or do you?

In what deluded fairy tale was Taylor #7 AT ANYTHING? His solo tour started out OK, but by mid-tour, most of his concerts were half full or less. His demeanor is so rude and crass, he is a very easy guy to dislike personally. I do ask this, I mean what more do they want? He sold platinum, and he debuted at #2. Also his single Do I Make You Proud is still on the charts. But they were too busy promoting their favorites and never promoted Taylor to radio, which is needed to sell more. Idol does this all the time, picks their favorites to promote, and do not promote all of them and then blame the singers for their wrong doings. How do I know this? Clive and his companies were fined for paying off radio to play who they want. Google it.

The must have been terrible bad blood between Taylor his label to be dropped after a year. His sales were the worst to date but I'm still surprised they didn't give him a second album. Even Clive Davis can't get radio to play music that just doesn't fit the format.

I hope Taylor gets signed by another label and doesn't go independent. That's a tough road and while Elliott Yamin made it work, it's because he had a massive Top 40 hit. Taylor will never have that. He needs the support of a label.

Maybe the folks at 'Idol' should let the winners actually make good music instead of trying to crank out some sub-par slop right after they win. Has anyone heard that "Tattoo" song Jordin does? Awful. Taylor hicks was always annoying (how he won is beyond me) and Rubin's winning was bothersom also given how Simon always calls female conteseants "fat" or "overweight" when they clearly are neither. I'm personally glad I'll never have to deal with Hicks' weird scrunchy face again. His bad music tanked when he was on a major, and I forsee a future of weddings and Bar Mitzvahs now that his next release will be independant. American Idol should quit while it's ahead, especially since Paula's about to fly off the deep end any day now.

This just in, from an insider in the Hicks camp. Taylor got down on his knees and offered to service any and all comers if they would just leave the door open for him to go BACK to J Records after he wrote more music and auditioned it for them. They declined the servicing offer (who wouldn't) but felt so sorry for him, they said OK, if he goes home and writes something marketable, they'll throw him a bone. I am so sorry Taylor was dropped but not at all surprised. From the very beginning he has been treated so badly from CD, Idol and all the rest of the big money machines. He did not receive any support from any of them, in fact, between bad press and downright rude and ugly remarks from AI I was so embarrassed and hurt for Taylor. I don't know what his future holds but Taylor has held his head high and never spoke badly of any of these creatures, which says alot about his character. He has been the most original talented winner of all, no matter what anyone says, he one heck of an entertainer, has a fantastic range and voice, is so very intelligent, interviews wonderfully and is handsome and sexy. What else could anyone ask for. I don't listen to the radio anymore because of the crap played, I'm sure due to payola, surely all of America can't be tone deaf. Taylor came along with some good rock and soul music that many of us have longed for. 1 more cd, Taylor, Pleeeeeeez! and soon!

It was just reported that Taylor Hicks got dropped again, but this time it was from the TPAOMS.(The Phillipino Association of Mall Singers). Apparently the TPAOJ (The Phillipino association of Janitors)have been working non-stop at trying to clean up the sweaty mess left behind by the former Idol since his three Mall tour. The TPAOJ is complaining that the clean up has been very costly, since they had to ensure that everyone involved was wearing industrial strength nasel guards, so that they could safely enter the building. Mr. Hicks had very little to say when questioned, except that his cult following would gladly pay $300.00 for just a drop of his sweat that was dripped on his recent Asian tour, so if they could bottle and ship it to his trailer in Alabama, that it would help him to finance his upcoming CD. TPAOJ has assured us that they will do everything in their power to make sure the upcoming CD does not occur, so therefore the sweat will be shipped to a toxic waste dump.

After reading every comment on this board and being perhaps the only man in Oregon to see Taylor Hicks, Elliott Yamin and Daughtry live in 2007, I must say the following...
Acoustic or without music, Elliott's the best singer. He had the smallest audience. Taylor was, I believe, the only one to not have another artist open for him. Most of the audience was older women with some men and a few kids. He actually gave his harmonic to a boy in the audience. I wish Elliott won. I did my best to vote for him and only him with 1 phone when it was down to 3. Made up for it last year with 2 phones to get Blake in the top 2. Even Taylor has said himself he wasn't the best singer. Remember votefortheworst.com? The best advice I may have for him is to sign with Elliott's label. God forbid he winds up on the next season of Celebrity Rehab.

I am now glad Taylor has been dropped from his record label - he can do new material on his album without Clive who is doing nothing but promoting Chris Daughtry.I reckon his new album will be better than the last one which was an exceptional effort

If Taylor was so exceptional, then why did his sales suck? Why did he get dropped? Why did the radio stations not play him? Why does everyone laugh at him? Why does he sweat like a leaky faucett? Why is his face gone from the AI opening? Why is he giving free concerts at shopping malls?

Taylor is exceptional!!!!! He is the first AI to be dropped after one album and the first to not sell a million albums. Yup that boy really is an exception from all the other winners!

Taylor doesn't need that old has been Clive Davis anyway. Taylor has plenty of fans to keep his records selling, and this way he won't have to pay the old geeser for doing nothing for him. Never heard Taylors songs being promoted after the release, and he didn't deserve the lousy representation that he got from J Records. Taylor your better off without that kind of business. Taylors album went platnum not quite 3 weeks after it was released, I don't know where you get your information from. If he was no good he wouldn't have won AI. Taylor has a style that doesn't appeal to all, but you are cutting him down unfairly. Didn't your mama teach you that if you can't say something nice not to say anything at all?
