Starz launching 'Crash' TV series

Crash is a complete bust - poor acting, substandard lighting, mediocre writing. Did any one actually direct it? Oh, yes JB "Love Boat" Moranville. Glad they are done filming and let ABQ rest. Judging by the quality of the show they won't be back. Nice job Marty Chavez - yet another film that makes Albuquerque look like a cesspool filled with scumbags, drugs dealers, whackos and killers. Way to go Bill Richardson for endorsing another film that reflects poorly on our state. Thank you both for wasting our tax dollars on this crap.

Crash was a very good film, but not without it's flaws, far from deserving of the "Best Picture" Oscar it won. My list of 2005 films that were more deserving...

The Three Burials of Malquides Estrada (wasn't even nominated, but absolutely should have won, no question)

The Beat That My Heart Skipped

Kontroll

Everything is Illuminated

Cache

Breakfast on Pluto

A History of Violence

Winter Solstice

The Ballad of Jack and Rose

The Constant Gardener

Capote

Goodnight and Goodluck

A few of these would never have stood a chance due to them being foreign films, and the Oscars are incredibly biased against nominating foreign films for the major awards (even when they are without a doubt better than any American films made that year), and a few weren't popular enough (and the Oscars are absolutely as much about popularity as anything else, see all of Titanic's disgraceful wins).

That all being said I actually think a Crash TV series could be quite good if handled correctly.

CRASH is an outstanding movie and deserved the oscar. It raised issues that we all need to think about and live with each day- we are all connected to one human family. The actors were outstanding! The television series is sure to be a hit especially because of the Moresco/Haggis writing. People who are lucky enough to have the cast working in their area. Welcome them. People who work hard enjoy good shows and movies and realize how hard these actors work. Let's all applaud these talented people. I welcome the series and wish the Black Donnellys were back on too it didn't stay on long enough.

Great movie. Should make for a great series. The actors sure made for a tough act to follow. I hop the starz can pull it off because it would be an amazing and intriguing show.

Alright, so I work with a bunch of the 'Crash' people. They are generally nice people. There are a few of them, that could be a little nicer, and they certainly know who they are. The stunt coordinator has been here since May or so and won't leave until October. Give these guys a break.

Well to be honest they do most the filming in Rio Rancho not Albuquerque right next door to my place of business, and we are very glad they are here. Even on the days that they ask us to stop work outside as they do their filming. Thanks for choosing Rio Rancho NM as your filming site.

Wow! Hey I loved the movie Crash. I had to watch it twice before I started to get it. That is the mark of a good movie. Won and oscar so I must not be alone in this. But alas it is a movie for the thinking person. You aggrivators are going to have to get their head out of the portapotties before you can smell the roses. I live in Santa Fe... we would love to have Crash come up here and film. Kudo's to the mayor of Albuquerque, Marty Chavez, the producers, crew and cast of "Crash"... thank you for coming to New Mexico. Make us proud!

Likely a zoning violation? NO it is CLEARLY a zoning violation. The film crews are happy to park their porta potties wherever they can, fill our streets and every square foot of unoccupied land with semi-trucks, trailers, and 12-passenger vans - spewing exhaust into the pristine cottonwood forest. The real problem is that the director and staff at the Albuquerque Film Office only care about making money and simply ignore their own guidelines, not holding the crew accountable for their actions. Mayor Marty Chavez only cares about making money for the city and putting on a smiling face. Hey Marty, it is hard to smile when the air in your back yard reeks of urine from the porta potties parked next door and the air is heavy with exhaust fumes. Maybe they will film in your area soon!

CRASH has taken over small neighborhoods in Albuquerque to do this filming, likely violating zoning requirements and making neigbhors angry. It is an awful situation, the producers of CRASH don't care who they step on to produce their TV series.

I just love Don Cheadle..and I loved the movie "Crash' written by fellow Canadian Paul Haggis("Way to go Paul..eh")but I fear it will not be avaiable in Canada through cable TV,since Starz Channel is not included in the programming...maybe I'll get lucky and it will be picked up by another premium cable network here.

Good for him BUT can I just rant and rave about how Mr. Cheadle was robbed of a major award nod this season for his lead performance in Talk to Me?!? A Major Oversight!
