Justin Timberlake, Timbaland to appear in new Madonna video

Madonna_l Justin Timberlake and Timbaland are off to London to appear in Madonna's new video for the song "4 Minutes to Save the World." The two cowrote and coproduced the track, which is the first single off her forthcoming album (the last full LP she'll release for Warner Bros.), due out this April. Queen M also recently shot the cover art for the album (believed to be titled Give It To Me) with renowned fashion photographer and frequent collaborator Steven Klein. As fans clamor for a glimpse at the superstar's latest reinvention, details are starting to emerge about her new look and sound. Madonna's stylist, B. (yes, she just goes by the initial), told Women's Wear Daily at Chanel's couture show on Tuesday that "Madonna's look is going to be more edgy, more fresh — no more disco." And Warner Bros. staffers who heard the record at a listening session last month describe it as "very now." Says an insider: "For the first time, [Madonna's] not chasing the next new sound. She's embracing what's happening today."

Yes, her Bedtime Stories album contained her biggest hit...but it wasn't "Secret," it was "Take A Bow" which hit #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and held it for 7 consecutive weeks.

ain't no matter... Tue, Jan 29, 2008 at 08:12 PM EST

The album may not be as mainstream as we all think. Madonna has already got roots in RnB with Erotica and Bedtime Stories...I still think she will release a calculated album that will explore outside of the USA comfort zone. The album will not do well in USA market but globally it will be a smash and thats where it counts the most. The only thing good going for the USA music industry right now is Janet Jackson and Michael Jackson's new material...other than than its all sounding pretty much the same. Madonna will rock out as usual and the haters will always hate her but no one cares bout the haters anyways.

Jesus Mon, Jan 28, 2008 at 07:58 PM EST

I'm not a Madonna fan, but just looked up the sales of her last album: it sold 1.7 million copies, in the USA alone. Those numbers are excellent. It's the equivalent of selling 5 million records 10 years ago.

Indianafan Mon, Jan 28, 2008 at 06:41 PM EST

None of Madonna's albums have flopped. Every album she has come out with has gone platinum. Even her lowest selling album "American Life".

"Bedtime Stories" not only had her biggest all time hit, "Secret" went all the way to number 3 in it's 4th or 5th week on the "Billboard Hot 100 Singles"chart, and the album itself outsold "Erotica".

Lastly, Madonna deserves her props for working with Timbaland, Timberlake, and whoever else. She waited this long to go the route of other artists.

I feel a couple of new number one singles with this album. :)

It'll be nice to see Madonna in the mainstream again. I'm sure her music will be much better than what Mariah, Beyonce, Janet, Rihanna etc, etc, are putting out. Madonna's last 2 albums were not mainstream at all, she released what she was feeling, whether or not it was popular. Madonna doesn't need the money. You watch, 2008 will be Madonna's year. Let's not forget, her last 3 tours were SOLD OUT all over the world. Mariah Carey who sold "millions" of records? How many sell out show's did she have? Madonna is about as irrelevant as oxygen. Rest my case.

So, tell me... how does it feel to have such a pathetic excuse for a life that you have to troll message boards to bash an artist you claim to care nothing about?

T Mon, Jan 28, 2008 at 03:28 PM EST

ironically, 'Bedtime Stories', the 'flop' you guys have been dissing, featured Madonna's biggest US #1 hit 'Take a Bow', and was her first album to be nominated for a Grammy Award. Some flop that is!!!

Flea Mon, Jan 28, 2008 at 02:44 PM EST

mmasmusic: And Debbie Harry of Blondie used a rap singer on the song "Rapture" back in the late 70s or early 80s, before Madonna ever started her career.

Pubala: Nobody wants to touch her; they might get some kind of "social disease," if you know what I mean.

Leo: Sorry, pal, but Europeans and the Japanese tend to favor untalented or bizarre entertainers. Long after Michael Jackson fell out of favor in the USA, for instance, he still has a fan base in Japan. The French dig Jerry Lewis movies, and the Germans love cheese-ball singing by David Hasselhoff. Many Europeans and Japanese continue to follow celebrities that Americans realize are has-beens: it's the same thing with Madonna.

mmasmusic: How funny you should call Mariah etc. sluts, when Madonna was far more slutty than all of them put together, and not just in her public life, either, but also in her private life.

Flea Mon, Jan 28, 2008 at 02:37 PM EST

nilito: Madonna's American Life album was a total failure. Confessions did not do well in the United States - so yeah, Madonna is desperate. Just because she has been forcing herself on the public for 25 years doesn't mean she's talented or relevant.

YEAH!!!!!! Can't wait. Love the Mo'!

jason Mon, Jan 28, 2008 at 02:02 PM EST

it sucks that she has to conform to the current music scene to have a hit record these days, but hey if she wants to get her music out there a little selling-out never hurt i guess. i still think she is one of the most important artists of our lifetime.

Pubala Mon, Jan 28, 2008 at 10:50 AM EST

Madonna is the queen!!!!!!
NO ONE CAN TOUCH HER.

mmasmusic Mon, Jan 28, 2008 at 07:39 AM EST

Music was her last nº1 in America and that was 2000 its not that long and Hung up was on the top 10 so wasnt that long. And then Madonna is not jumping in anywhere. She used rappers and R$B before Moriaah,britney,janet... and all those slutties...Her very first time using the was on the Erotica album on 1992. You can listen at Did you do it? so she was the first one so shut the eff up.

simba Mon, Jan 28, 2008 at 04:26 AM EST

1) Confessions on a Dance Floor is the tenth studio album by pop singer Madonna, released on 15 November 2005 by Warner Bros. Records. It sold 2 million copies in its first week of release in Europe. The album went on to sell 8 million copies worldwide. It debuted at number one in 29 countries, a world record for a solo artist. The album won the Grammy Award for Best Electronic/Dance Album in 2007

2) "Take a Bow" is a song by American singer Madonna from her 1994 album Bedtime Stories, and her longest running #1 hit ever in the United States.

3) Hasn't she still earned your trust in terms of knowing what she's doing? I've got no idea what's her new status is gonna be like and I've got no but one expectation - it surely will be fun. The rest matters not

leo Sun, Jan 27, 2008 at 10:30 PM EST

Madonna continues to be No.1 in every other part of the world - and it's a BIG world - except in America. It's not Madonna that need re-invention; it's America.

JP Sun, Jan 27, 2008 at 08:35 PM EST

Madonna has not always been on the cutting edge of new music. I'm sure her detractors will accuse her of being desperate this time and jumping on the bandwagon. There's truth to this, but it's not like Madonna is the only one to do this. But it's also important to realize that Madonna has worked with very well established producers before, such as Nile Rogers, David Foster, and Babyface. "Bedtime Stories," by the way, is an excellent album.

Derek Sun, Jan 27, 2008 at 01:19 PM EST

I hope her album doesn't sound like Justin and Nelly Furtado. Those albums are good with their Timbaland touch, but Madonna would just look like jumping on the hot Timbaland bandwagon....

Delon Sun, Jan 27, 2008 at 09:10 AM EST

I'm not liking that Madonna is following in the steps of Nelly Furtado, but the two leaked songs, Candy Shop and especially The Beat Goes On, are quite good. Bedtime Stories is one of Madonna's most underrated albums which had spawned the biggest smash of Madonna's career Take a Bow. Looking forward to the album.

At least her hair looks really nice this time. I just hope Justin does not pull her top down. Lets be real here: Madonna is a business woman who knows how to rake the bucks in. Her voice is another matter.

LOOKS LIKE I HAVE 2 WAIT 3 MONTHS 4 THE NEW MADONNA NEXT MUSIC PROJECT: GIVE IT TO ME.. COMING THIS APRIL!
I CAN'T WAIT BUT I SHOULD ANYWAY EVEN THOUGH I CAN HEAR HER OLD SONGS UNTIL APRIL COMES... ROCK ON MADONNA!!!

MadonnaNation.com Sat, Jan 26, 2008 at 11:23 AM EST

The album will be a SMASH. It doesn't matter what genre Madonna is involved in, it will still be very Madonna and pop. She will deliver. Madonna fans are very excited for 2008: the upcoming album, upcoming tour, her 50th birthday, Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction, and 25th anniversary in the music industry.

Thataboy Sat, Jan 26, 2008 at 10:08 AM EST

Wow, some people don't seem to remember Bedtime Stories, her last awful attempt at R&B (which the quoted insider must forget... she was "embracing the sound" of 1993/1994 with producers like Dallas Austin and Babyface).

nilito Sat, Jan 26, 2008 at 08:18 AM EST

Oh, yeah, David. Poor poor Madonna really NEEDS to try the current sounds that are out there now. She hasn't had a number 1 record since the 80's, right? Stick with what YOU know, OK? Girlfriend's ALWAYS been on the cutting edge, and has never had a problem hitting number 1. (How many is that again?) Will you be able to say that in 25 years about your Mimis, Beyonces, Rihannas and Ashantis? Probably not. Madonna's "trying" what's current now, just because she freaking likes it. And again, I highly doubt that she'll fail. :)

David Sat, Jan 26, 2008 at 07:49 AM EST

Puhleez! I smell signs of desperation here from Madge since her pop albums are not selling as well so she might have thought "hmmm, why not dabble in RnB instead and compete with the Mimis, Beyonces, Rihannas and Ashantis of the word" How original. Stick to pop Madonna... some of us still love you for that even if that stuff doesn't sell as much as RnB nowadays. Okay?! :)
