At the Globes: It's over. At last.

As the Golden Globes were announced during the live press conference, the biggest cheer from the crowd of publicists and reporters came, perhaps, for Californication's David Duchnovny in the Best Actor in a TV Comedy category. (That also could have been because his win was an upset over 30 Rock's Alec Baldwin.) Otherwise, the room stayed mum during the presentations, other than reporters granting occasional laughs to emcee Mary Hart's "jokes."

Now the media have nothing to do but photograph each other - literally. TV personalities got that rarest of gifts this year - the opportunity to do live shots from the Globes stage. (No one else was on it, after all.) A team of photographers rushed the stage to get shots of presenters such as The Insider's Lara Spencer. Curiously, the photogs didn't seem to be shooting E!'s Giuliana Rancic, who made the jaw-dropping declaration that she supports the Writers Guild of America. Meanwhile, Hollywood Foreign Press Association President Jorge Camara was doing interviews with anyone who would talk to him. An Extra correspondent annoyed all those around him by continuing to shout "The Winners Celebrate With Extra!" into the camera, even though there isn't a Globe winner in sight. Presumably, Extra, like the rest of the media, will interview winners tomorrow. At least the champagne is still flowing at the Globes, even if only reporters are drinking it.

I was watching the "live" fest, and, as always, could predict most of the time who was going to win. It's the Hollywood FOREIGN Press, so you've gotta think "foreign" - aka. Extras, anyone not originally from America for a winner (yes, David D was a surprise), and then, of course, any person nominated for a mini-series ALWAYS trumps a person in a regular show. It's a joke.

Cohen's accent wasn't British, it was Italian.

The whole thing was depressing but the low point was Billy Bush proclaiming that winner Cate Blanchett shouldn't have won because she was "just imitating a man" and not acting after her name was announced as winner. I hated it.

Duchovny is a bore. Alec Baldwin is sooo good it hurts!

I started watching it on NBC, but Billy Bush and Nancy O'Dell became so unbelieveably annoying (as they always are), I switched to CNN and watched it on Larry King Live. Which wasn't much better because Mary Hart is almost as annoying as Billy Bush....But Larry was quite funny actually. After each winner, Larry tried to put his two cents and give his thoughts, but they were so quick he kept getting cut off by the next award. It was very strange.

Geez, if the Oscars do get to go on, that Barbie & Ken pair from Abcess Hollywood would be GREAT as hosts, dontcha think!?! They could be a metaphor for all that is PLASTIC in Hollywood, all that is FAKE and EMPTY. And spray-tanned.
BEST. GLOBES. EVER............

How can they rebuild the economic disaster they cause by this strike? I don't know what to comment to the entertainment unions and the studios because there's just no use to all of them not talking to each other like mature adults to these childish demands and complaints and not make an agreement.

I loved to see David Duchovny won. Duchovny is onee of the best actor in the world.

All the entertainment unions and the studios are right now "A DISGRACE!" This is a comment to all of them and especially to the WGA, I think you're ALL a total embarassment to entertainment as we know it. This writer's strike has been reeling on for 12 weeks and you don't have an agreement. That's why I'm saying right now, "YOU'RE A TOTAL DISGRACE!" No wonder the entertainment industry is losing millions and millions of dollars and it's going down the drain. A WASTE! This strike has wasted so much and it will probably take at least 8 months to bounce back of what was lost! Is there any hope to this strike ending soon? If I had anything to say it's "I DON'T KNOW!" I wish you end stalemate now.

I think this was a sorry DISGRACE of an awards show with just journalists instead of the stars. The magic of Hollywood has disappeared because of those no good striking writers. I've lost faith to Hollywood and the glitz to me is totally DEAD to me. The WGA,AMPTP and the Studios better get back to the bargaining table or else they're just invisible to us. It's no excuse to make the stylists and everybody else cry to tears making the entertainment magic just disappear in front of everybody's eyes all around and have this strike be like a monkey on your back. How can they rebuild the economic disaster they cause by this strike? I don't know what to comment to the entertainment unions and the studios because there's just no use to all of them not talking to each other like mature adults to these childish demands and complaints and not make an agreement. I've boycotted myself from watching those so-called new episodes on TV and those new movies that are playing. I've stopped. NO MORE!

Cohen IS British!

How LAME was NBC's coverage? It said "Live" in the upper left corner--Yet over on the E Network, they were 5 minutes ahead, actually giving the announcement truly "live". Who was the hostess/announcer for the E broadcast anyways? Shame on NBC for defrauding the viewers!

Boring considering that the GG’s are the loosest and booziest (i.e. funniest) awards of the season, but let’s make it clear that the actor’s boycott was to stand WITH the writers in solidarity, not because they were forced to or for any other reason. They could definitely have chosen to attend. Frankly, I think half of them are happy not to have to deal with all those annoying entertainment “reporters” shouting “What are you wearing???”

It’s only sad for people like Nikki Blonsky and Ellen Page and even Rumor Willis for missing their first big Hollywood awards event. At least Michael Cera got to attend a few of these things when he was on Arrested Development (god I miss that show, thank god I have cable, which apparently has all the good T.V. shows anyway).

Hairspray did not win...I am shocked. Though Johnny Depp deserved to win, he was the only thing I enjoyed from Sweeney Todd (besides Cohen's British accent).
