The Recording Academy released a statement today on behalf of the "music community" addressing speculation of who may or may not perform at the Grammys should the WGA decide not to sign an interim agreement for the show. The Foo Fighters, as previously reported, were the only act confirmed to play, and indeed, singer Dave Grohl says his band will be at the Feb. 10 ceremony. As for Beyoncé, her father/manager Matthew Knowles is quoted in the press release saying, "Beyoncé, as well as my other artists Solange and Trinitee 5:7, have been asked to participate and will do so. We have an incredible Beyoncé performance that will be announced soon. We wish the Grammys the best."

The full release after the jump.

Statements from the Music Community regarding the 50th Annual GRAMMY® Awards:

In response to press speculation regarding artist attendance at the 50th Annual Grammy Awards, The Recording Academy has received the following statements from friends in the music community declaring their support:

"The work of The Recording Academy is vital to the music industry, and we have every intention of being with the entire music community to celebrate the Grammys' 50th birthday in February. Beyoncé, as well as my other artists Solange and Trinitee 5:7, have been asked to participate and will do so. We have an incredible Beyoncé performance that will be announced soon. We wish the Grammys the best."
— Mathew Knowles, Music World Entertainment

"We're participating in 'My GRAMMY Moment' because it creates opportunities. Opportunities to write, compose, play and study music — skills that absolutely need to be passed on to generations to come. And thanks to 'My Grammy Moment,' a musician from that next generation is going to get the chance to audition on YouTube to play with us at the Grammys as part of our orchestra."
— Dave Grohl, Foo Fighters

"We're looking forward to attending this year's Grammy Awards as we do every year. We are hopeful that we will see a resolution to the current situation affecting our entire industry, as Foo Fighters have always had nothing short of amazing experiences with the writers, producers, fellow artists and audiences at the Grammys and every television show the band has ever played. There's no question that the Grammys are a highlight of every year for the industry and audiences alike, and we're thrilled that the Foo Fighters will be performing on the show."
— John Silva, SAM Music Management

well as for beyonce i know she's always creative.she can bring out something from her presently new album project and perform.but foo fighters, they don't have a classic earthshattering performance taste.so back them off.

Suppasredy Fri, Jan 25, 2008 at 12:54 PM EST

The purpose of the writers strike to bring attention to the fact these studio owners are a bunch of greedy pigs.Maybe we should boycott the Foo Fighters and Beyonce. I mean Dave Grohl has enough money to give every writer in Hollywood a 40% raise.I say we hit him where it counts in the Wallet. Boycott Foo Fighters and Beyonce's Music

Since Beyonce is so bad, why haven't any of you said who is better. Such jealousy! Stop hating a rich, hard -working, talented beautiful female! You haters are good at throwing good people away. I'd hate to work for you!!!! Obviously, alot of people admire her or she would not be in such demand. Stop hating and appreciate!

It's not like Beyonce is respected as an actress, so I don't care that she's crossing the picket line as I don't consider her an actress anyway. She's a singer that luckily got into a good movie. I just hope this means that she's done trying to act and she'll turn in her SAG card.

Nya Mon, Jan 21, 2008 at 12:12 PM EST

*sigh* Dave Grohl is losing my respect here....

As for Be*yawn*ce, now I *KNOW* I'll be avoiding this BS -- she has nothing new to sing and all she'll do is riff and run through whatever she has to sing. Boring and OLD. I can think of much better singers....

lolo Mon, Jan 21, 2008 at 04:26 AM EST

Does beyonce have anything new to sing at the grammys that we do not know about, the last time i remember her album was realeased in a 1820, as for the remake of the 2nd album all the songs sound cheap and they suck i do not think she has anything classical to sing at the grammys. She needs to chill seriously.

Lori Sat, Jan 19, 2008 at 04:15 PM EST

I've been a long time fan of the Foo Fighters and their talented leader, Mr. Grohl. But he got it wrong this time. If he truly wanted to support a "next generation" artist, he would honor the picket. Also, he could easily give this "next generation" musician a moment to shine at one of his concerts or at a different venue, especially when the strike is settled. I guess I can delete the Foo Fighters from my iPod. As for Beyonce...well, she's never been included in my musical collection.

Leisah Sat, Jan 19, 2008 at 01:15 AM EST

BEYONCE IS OVERRATED!!! Yes, I said it and I could give a damn who disagrees. And I'm certainly not "anticipating" a performance by her. We've had enough of her already!!

Nikki Fri, Jan 18, 2008 at 01:55 PM EST

I am a Beyonnce fan. I enjoy all of her performances, but feel she should boycott since she is also an actress. I think this will be something she will regret in the future.

SMILEY TODD Fri, Jan 18, 2008 at 12:22 PM EST

ANTHONY C AND KRISTEN NEED TO STFU!!

YOU OBVIOUSLY HAVE NO IDEA WHAT YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT AND YOU SPEAK SO CONFIDENTLY AS IF YOU DO.

NOW THAT'S DESPICABLE AND A DIGRACE TO EDUCATED MUSIC FANS EVERYWHERE. WHO THE HELL ARE YOU PEOPLE?? OH, THAT'S RIGHT... NOBODY! lOLOLOL

CJ Fri, Jan 18, 2008 at 12:20 PM EST

TO SAY THAT BEYONCE IS A DESPICABLE PERFORMER AND POOR EXCUSE FOR AN ARTIST MEANS THAT YOU OBVIOUSLY DON'T KNOW A PHENOMENAL VOCALIST IF HE OR SHE SLAPPED THE HELL OUT OF YOU THREE TIMES.. THE ENTIRE MUSIC INDUSTRY SPEAKS VERY HIGHLY OF BEYONCE, HER VOCALS AND HER PERFORMANCES. AS AN ACTOR, MYSELF, TO SAY THAT SHE CAN'T "ACT" WHEN SHE ACTS EVERYTIME SHE'S ONSTAGER PERFORMING IS JUST PLAIN IGNORANCE.

SOME PEOPLE THINK THEY KNOW WHAT THE HELL THEY'RE TALKING ABOUT WILE ONLY PROVING THEIR BLATANT IGNORANCE AND DISCONNECTION WITH TODAY'S POP CULTURE.

YOU MUST BE OVER 5O... NO DISRESPECT, BUT GET A DAMN CLUE.

Jackson Fri, Jan 18, 2008 at 12:18 PM EST

We all need to get a life since we are commenting on Beyonce's impending Grammy performance. At least she's busy gearing up for an event. What are we doing? Commenting about her work...

Muzik Fri, Jan 18, 2008 at 11:49 AM EST

Beyonce is a great vocalist and dynamic performer. I can't hardly wait to see what she'll come up with.

Kristen Fri, Jan 18, 2008 at 10:04 AM EST

Beyonce's first and foremost responsibility is to her music career, and participating in the Grammy's is part of that. I don't think any "actor" whose main bread and butter is their musical abilities should be expected to turn aside that loyalty for the writer's strike- the writer's strike should have nothing to do with music, period. Besides, homegirl can't act.

Anthony C. Fri, Jan 18, 2008 at 08:40 AM EST

Beyonce is a no talent hack. She is a poor excuse for a female vocalist. I am not surprised that she would not support other creative artists (even though she is far from an artist herself) in their quest to be paid fairly (i.e. the writers). Boo Beyonce. You are truly despicable!
