In a significant move designed to further strike-proof its schedule, CBS will begin airing repeats of Showtime’s cult hit fave Dexter on Feb. 17. The show just wrapped its second season on the CBS-owned premium cable network. The Eye says it will edit the first season of the series — a graphic drama starring Michael C. Hall (pictured, far left, with C.S. Lee) as a forensics expert who moonlights as a serial killer — for broadcast at 10 p.m. Sundays. By opting to air 12 episodes of Dexter, CBS will become the first broadcast network to program an entire season of a premium cable series.
There has been speculation for some time that CBS would call up one of Showtime’s buzzworthy shows to help fill the void on its schedule while the strike looms large. Dexter, with its roots in the crime world, made the most sense for the network home to the CSI franchise, Cold Case, NUMB3RS and Criminal Minds. On the other hand, Weeds, though an award-winning critical fave, could be difficult for the Eye to air because some viewers have suggested that the drama about a suburban drug dealing mom promotes marijuana use.

This is one of the best shows on TV, but I can’t imagine it edited for Network TV.
I’m excited to see something good and worth watching on CBS. I just hope they don’t edit the good out of it.
at least something good is coming out of the strike for my viewing pleasure
KEEP IN MIND IS IT A MADE FOR T.V. SHOW OR NOT , IS THIS A FAMILY SHOW
I guess Dexter’s sister will be edited out of the show entirely, because I don’t think she’s ever spoken a single sentence without dropping the “f-bomb”.
I love Dexter, but seriously, people are really clueless. Dexter promotes killing, a much higher crime than smoking weed. The viewers who would rather watch murder than pot are silly. If that’s the logic they’re using, they’re very selfish.
Dexter promotes justice because the people he kills actually deserve it.
I love Dexter but they will probably have to filter out a lot of content. Plus it’s just the first season, not the most recent. If you wanted to see it that badly you could just the season on DVD.
I love it! This can only spread the word about a great show, and maybe more people will tune in this fall to Showtime to see the show as it is meant to be seen. I am interested in seeing how drastically the edits change things.
Rent it on DVD. The editing is going to mash this show up!
Best show ever. I’m totally floored by Michael C. Hall’s talent. Here is hope he gets more recognition.
censoring (editing) will really really mess up this show…language, nuditity and gross blood and dismemberment has a lot of screen time
They’re going to have to edit it so much that it’ll become a half hour long show. And Debra will be MIA. I love Dexter but I don’t see how they can pull this off without taking too much away from the storyline and characters.
I cant wait to see the whole 1st season of Dexter. I’m not too worried about them editing it to much, remember sometimes producers will film a clean version of a show in order to show it to certain audiences or as clips on late shows/ or commericals.
Ugh
I loved season 1, but can’t afford Showtime anymore, so I’m psyched about this!!!
I LOVE DEXTER! I can’t imagine them being able to edit the show though. Michael C Hall is phenomenal. This is easily the best show on television, far surpassing Law and Order, and all the CSI poo. The character development and story lines are superb, I hope this creates more of a buzz for the show!
Hey! BUT it is NEW YEAR now, how to enjoy the wonderful day? you love to try something new? interracialsinlgeonline.com you will be surprised there…
Promotes KILLING? LMAO!!!
OMG this must be the funniest thing I have heard in a long time, it lifts my spirits that were down a bit, THANK YOU!!!
I cannot wait for this! I live in a rural area and do not get cable and won’t pay for satellite so this is perfect! I have read about the show and always wanted to see it, how cool! I find it humorous however that marijuana is more taboo to TV execs that murder. I really want to watch Weeds too.. guess I will have to buy the DVD’s.
It won’t be the same great series, edited, interrupted by noisy and nauseating commercials. Any one who has not seen Dexter on Showtime could very well wonder what all the well deserved hype is about
No, No, NO! They will ruin it! Seeing Dex in it’s full glory, on cable makes Dex fans feel elite and special. You’re in on a really good secret. Now… editing, and then commercials! Dexter goes mainstream.. what a shame.
Dexter is one of the best original series I have seen to date. CBS editing will remove the morbid, violent aspects present in the original transforming the show into a soft, family version of Dexter that we’ve all come to appreciate.
Dexter is amazing and interesting, an edited version is certainly better than none !!!
This program doesn’t belong on the air. With all the violence that is happening in real life it is inciting it Wait until some slick lawyer uses this TV show to get a criminal off or someone sues CBS because they saw it on TV
