Bravo's 'Top Design' getting an extreme makeover

Last winter, viewers tuned in to Bravo’s Top Design expecting a Project Runway and Top Chef-esque (read: classy) reality show about home decorating. Instead, they got an hour that was about as thrilling as staring at a beige wall. So if news that the series will be back next year surprises you, take heart: Bravo has hired Magical Elves, the production company behind Runway and Chef, to give Design a head-to-toe makeover. “We want the show to be everything it can be,” says Bravo programming exec Andy Cohen. “It was a show people rooted for — and has a ton of potential.” Elves’ Dan Cutforth and Jane Lipsitz say they plan to feature “more accessible design” in season 2.

They’re about to start contestant casting but have yet to decide if underutilized host Todd Oldham and judges Jonathan Adler, Margaret Russell, and Kelly Wearstler will return. (Says Cutforth: “I’m sure there will be some changes.”) How nervous are they about the new challenge? “Ultimately it’s a simple format,” says Cutforth. “It’s not like the wheel has to be reinvented.” But it could certainly use a new coat of paint. —Jessica Shaw

I`v lost alot of weight very quickly do to depression that lowered my self asteam and there for costed me to lose weight quickly. This left me with alot of excess skin that just hangs and looks ugly.I would like to have it removed but I can not afford it,also my skin is very oily so therefore I have a blemish problem that makes my face and back look bad. I also need help with that, my chest is larger and saggy at my age of 22 and gives me alot of back problems. I need help and can not afford to have these things corrected myself.
Sincerely Megan McCord

You've got to keep Jonathan Adler. Mayor of excuses village? One of my all time favorite quotes.

I watched all of last season but only because I felt bad for the show! It was really ... not good. And the annoying catch phrase was "See you later, decorator!" Total. Cheese.

They have to change allthe judges and the host. Todd sounded ike a muppet that did not care (in my house we called him Janis) and Jonathan Adler was annoying, especially his "see ya later decorators"...being a good designer does not give you a personality

Why isn't this on the Popwatch Blog where people will be more likely to read it and comment on it? Why have this kind of stuff in two separate places, EW?

Those judges were absolutely horrible, especially the main guy. What was it he would say to the losers when he said goodbye? I can't remember right now but it was something stupid and annoying. Oldham didn't seem comfortable at all, though he did have some good tips when he was allowed to give them.

No! They can't get rid of Todd Oldham, Kelly or Margaret -- they did such a good job and Oldham had the best outfits of the season.

The show was a little slow, granted, but I loved it. I hope they don't change too much.

More "Top Design"!

Thank god . . . I couldn't make it through a single episode of this show. Shear Genius was even worse.

All the judges were lame and annoying. Oldham is an awkward host -- but at least he's likable.
