A few weeks back, we let Taylor Hanson guest blog on Hollywood Insider, and he used the opportunity to promote a cause near and dear to the band’s heart: AIDS in Africa. Since then, a lot has happened and many thousands of miles have been traversed. After taking to the streets (barefoot) in several U.S. cities, the sibling trio recently returned from Africa and provided us with this exclusive report:
Our second trip to Africa was again an eye opener. It was such a fulfillment of our mission to encourage action to see thousands of shoes be delivered to children in need. We were all struck by the daunting sight of five-year-olds whose feet were calloused and covered in a small lifetime of earth from the miles walked each day. Thankfully for many, that is no longer the case. Thank you to everyone that has helped fight poverty with TOMS, giving 50,000 pairs of shoes, and to everyone who is helping fight AIDS by purchasing the tune Great Divide… simple actions are changing the world. — Isaac, Taylor and Zac Hanson

The Hanson guys are probably the nicest, most sincere people in music today, not to mention talented. They own their own record label, write, perform and produce their own music in their home recording studio, sold out concerts over and over, and have dedicated this year to helping out so many poor kids in South Africa.
It’s amazing everything Hanson has done over the last few months to help this issue. They’ve certainly opened my eyes as well as so many other people’s who’ve helped out by buying a pair of Toms, the song Great Divide, etc… it’s an amazing thing and the world can only begin to be a better place by recognizing a cause and helping, even if it’s only spending $.99 on a song.
they deserve more then then people give them credit for these men really have an awe inspiring passion and talrnt and fire hanson have such bright out looks on ther elife and lives there really truly is none other more strong and more powerful then them i am honerd to have them in my life esp what they are doing for kids in africa to hanson i will take action to for them.
These guys are really smart. They’ve done their homework and they know exactly what they are talking about with regards to the AIDS issue in South Africa. What a brilliant idea to team up with Toms shoes to send shoes to children in South Africa. I only wish that Hanson had done the walks during the UK tour also and brought some Toms shoes as well so the UK fans could have helped the cause. At present Toms shoes don’t ship internationally but I am hoping that will change before the next shoe drop.

Hanson are wonderful men,not only multi-talented musicians but especially nice guys; kind with good, caring hearts. They embarked on their African cause with the same passion they have for their music and everything they do in life. Their fans love them not only for their great music but also for the strong, characterd gentlemen of integrity that they are in their life.
